Would be curious to know if anyone on here has played >100k hands at 5/10/20 or higher with 30+ vpip. All the players I know doing well at 102040 and higher are playing closer to 25% than 30. Not saying they're all right, just saying they're certainly doing something right.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a ton of 6max nlh games on the network, it seems like PPP is mostly 6max and PM 8max, and the PLO on PM is 6m. But I guess it just comes down to what clubs you end up in.

I'm curious if guys commenting on 30+ vpip are taking everything into account and have actually played at least a few 100k hands on apps with such vpip?

For starters rake can be from 5% to 7%. In some clubs you also have to buy insurance from time to time, which effectively increases rake even more. People openraise anywhere from 5 bb to 9bb, mostly around 8bb. Isolates are ******edly big as well. Stack depth varies considerably. You've got fellas with whom effective stacks are 400-800bb and than you've got guys with ~100bb who can and will punish extra loose play.

I simply can't see how having a 30% vpip (with the current meta) can be more optimal than 25-26%... (but I might be wrong, sure)

Edit: all "optimal play" calculations I've seen are based on artificial conditions which are never met in real play (like 4bb open raises and static stack sizes).

few 100k hands on these sites takes far too long. its going to wipe off like 99% of people who have an opinion on it.

Rake is on session winnings , not on flopped pots so it doesnt matter if you pay 50% or take 1% rake on these apps when it comes to vpip

What winrates are you seeing from these 25% guys then?

For me there's a sweet spot in softer games between going after optimal wr/hand and not being in a ******ed spot with a weak hand vs a sticky rec all day and burning out.

I should prob be at 35+ vpip at the softer site I play but cutting it down closer to 30 cuts away a significant effort to get that last bit of diminishing returns.

For me that's a very real factor. I might be weird but the more reasonable nitty play at pokerstars let's me play about 3-4x as many hands for the equivalent exhaustion level compared to a site with soft sticky games where you're forced to think on your feet to face non standard stuff all day.

Isn't rake not taken from the pot though? doesn't matter what % it is if it's not correlated to size of the pot.

yeha its the same concept as mtts, you pay rake in mtts but not on the table, so you can vpip a bit more in each respective positions

TBH it's just as easy to get to a few hundred k sample on these sites as any other imo. PM has been around a while.

So with my lease up in a couple months, I've been looking at what options I have re moving. A few of my mates expressed interest in getting a grind house going, and I went today to inspect what might just be THE ONE! Pics below.



So it's a ***** 710sqm 5 bedroom apartment with amazing sea views and a pretty baller jacuzzi... Looking at about 125k a month rent. So far there's two of us locked as definitelys, 1 90% locked in, and 1-2 probablies.

Will not only be a sweet place to live but to be surrounded by very very good poker players will be an absolute treat.

Is that 125k pp or for the whole place?

Heya Meale, thought I better officially subscribe, been following since the sad demise of your Thailand degen thread. Re the degenning, I did my monthly evening out three nights ago but it was somewhat of an anticlimactic night. Just got insaaanely drunk and chilled at gogobars all night with the boys. Will try organise something a bit more exciting for the next one! Which will probably coincide with a visa run shortly too.

I've just finished a 48 hour fast, just did legs as well, and downed 5 bacon rashers, 2 sausages, 6 eggs, and a 200g steak. And boy do I feel good! Gameplan now is to go chill outside for a bit and then get back on the grind!
