Re: 2019 - BALLZ TO THE WALL

In relation to high carb intake I have always found this more beneficial after training than before and I have gone from 78kg to 98kg at peak (around 93kg now) at 6'3.

I generally go for:

High protein breakfast (normally eggs based cos morning and I have to work).

Training around lunchtime

High protein and high carb feed just after.

Evening meal high protein low card.

As your body is working harder to digest at this time you limit the risk of eating too carb heavy and storing unwanted weight. The basic principle is carb cycling I believe although I have not kept up with much diet stuff over the last few years for bulking as I am trying to reduce body weight... (It is hard to shift 98kg around a football pitch for 90mins on a Saturday afternoon and I don't fancy wrecking my knees).

I am sure there are people ITT who might disagree but over the years of eating high carb before training and after training this is what I found had the best result.

Delighted to know that. A lot of them (not all) typify the IoT bottom feeders I was referring to.

Here's a ton of stuff on chiropractors from QuackWatch

Ultimately, I guess it depends where you want to get your information from. I'll stick with qualified medical professionals (I mean real ones; not shonky made up ones with fake degrees )

But like I said, I'm open-minded...and educated. I've read my Foucault

All truth is illusion...all knowledge is written for a purpose...yada, yada, yada

time to move on...

PS I did go to chiropractor once...he did that neck thing...**** that

Yeah makes sense re the carbs. I actually just read a study last night though that said there was no difference in protein synthesis whether on a high carb or low carb diet. Have you tried OMAD? :')

I have not tried OMAD but that is mostly down to the fact I often do multiple sessions a day, i.e. weights morning, football/cardio afternoon or evening. With work being quite hectic and my days not having a structure where I can plan to eat at a set time I generally have to balance quick fixes with preping meals. Recently I have also slipped into some bad habits like snacking which I had been avoiding so trying to kill that off at the moment.

I.e. breakfast is usually OK but lunch can be anywhere within a 2-3 hour period depending on meetings and dinner can be the similar/longer period depending on if I have training or a match as I tend to eat sparingly before and after rather than having one large meal.

For reference I do not think what I am doing is necessarily perfect but my lifestyle differs to you in the fact that I cannot often have a set time for work outs/meals daily.

Ideally I am looking to move the gym to mornings every day but being in the middle of redecoration/moving into my new flat getting to the gym for 6am is proving a struggle...

Yeah having a day job is the biggest fkaround for naailing a diet imo. I rmeember when I worked in a factory for 8 hours doing heavy lifting stuff mostly, up at like 4am, home at 2pm, only get 1 20 minute smoko break. How tf am I supposed to eat properly with this going on???

IMO quit your job so you can eat whenever you like.

Re: 2019 - BALLZ TO THE WALL

Tomorrow we break the fast (for real)

So it's currently been a little over 5 days since I ate last iirc feeling great but have decided to break the fast tomorrow. The reason being, I want to get back into a proper routine, up at same time every day, bed same time everyday. That sort of thing. Plus I want to start grinding properly again. I've decided the best way to get my 30 hours of volume each week will be to do 2x2.5 hour sessions each day, 6 days a week. This leaves me with plenty of time to muck around in the gym and plenty of time for studying after sessions. I'll look to do 2 hours in the books after playing for the next wee while because I'm making drastic changes to my game as of tomorrow. Having one meal a day will also free up a bunch of time which is nice too.

So, tomorrow is going to suck. I woke up at 4pm today and I'll be forcing myself to get up at 8am tomorrow as it's the easiest way to fix my bodyclock. 8am start, gym fasted (which will be rufff) - I've also got some creatine, glutamine, and preworkout which I'll all be taking for tomorrow's session. Then after the gym well break the fast finally with some bacon and eggs and steak. I'll keep an eye on macros and post em here. Next will be to go outside and lie in the sun for 40 mins. It's been pretty overcast last few days, which is good actually as 40 mins in super hot sun rn might kill me lol. After the sun, we do our first 2.5 hour session, 10 minute break to foam roll/stretch, second 2.5 hour session, foam roll again, and then I'll look to do 2 hours review of the session which will include gathering hands and pre-analysing them and putting together a collection of hands and analyses before my next coaching session in a week. After that I'll have 40 mins or so to take care of any businessy type stuff, and then I'll update 2+2 PGC, then it'll be wind down time. After 9pm I'm not allowed any screens and will likely just go out for a walk somewhere and then write in my diary. I imagine I'll be exhausted so ill probably get in bed fairly quickly but the idea is lights out by 11pm. The idea is to fill that 9 hour gap between 11pm and 8am with as much quality sleep as possible.

Looking forward to it! Super stoked to cook up some ***** eggs and bacon my gawd. Super keen to get back on the tables and try implement some of these new things I've learnt in my first coaching session. Dreading getting up and going to the gym fasted on the back of no sleep but LETS GOOOOOO

Daily Update - Tuesday 8 Jan

Today was a ****ing good day. Got out of bed at 8:30 pumped for the day, despite getting absolutely nil sleep the night before. Downed my BCAAs and creatine and headed to the gym. Did a bit of foam rolling and then drank my pre workout and was insanely fired up and energetic, despite not eating for the previous 6 days.

Absolutely smashed a back and arms session, felt ***** fantastic. Got home, cooked up an absolute storm,

Spoiler:

I cannot express in words just how ****ing delightful those eggs were. I need to buy a bigger pan so I can cook more bacon though. I had 6 fried eggs, maybe 7 bacon strips, and a 200g steak with cheese. So much for breaking the fast easy :')

Poker went pretty good today as well.

Great day on all fronts. I'm going to head to the shops now to grab some supplies for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be chest and shoulders and pretty much a repeat of today, hopefully I can repeat the 10 buyin day as well!

you re not afraid of having digestion issues with this kind of meal? there is zero fiber in everything you ate, maybe you have an insane genetic but it seems like a sick amount of stress to put on your body after a healthy fast

Yeah don’t skimp on the veggies. The fiber and micronutrients will do you well, and there’s plenty of research that confirms it

If you haven't eaten for 6 days you shouldn't be surprised that things like caffeine hit you a lot more. Most drugs would do the same so just be careful on that front until you're eating again.

Don't skimp on the superfoods either! I recommend a nice acai and maqui bowl with kiwis and chia seeds on top, then spritz on some probiotic water.

No trolling, serious question: why a 20 minute feed window? Seems excessive by any standard. Is a 23 hour and 40 minutes fast any difference from a 23 hour or even 22 hour fast? (or even a 20 hour fast, but let's no get crazy)

Yeah I was soooomewhat worried that I may get a little plugged up, so today I fried up half a cauliflower and had that with melted cheese. I wanted to keep the carbs low and cauliflower has pretty good fiber for low carb veges.

Will flick in the occasional acai bowl for ya m8

The 20 minute feeding window wasn't serious, in reality I'm probably eating for an hour start to finish just because cooking everything is taking quite a bit longer than expected. The point is I'm having one meal a day atm.

Daily Update - Wed 9 Jan

Another reasonable day in the books. I ended up doing legs this morning and had another fantastic workout. Study was somewhat rushed today because I had like 18 unread messages on Skype and had to attend to a bunch of that ****. Back at it again tomorrow.

Also, for those of you who miss the girlies, I've just made my guest post in Gazzy's thread: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...postcount=7832

GL all and until tomorrow!

Don't your tastebuds scream for a large crispy green salad dressed with some zesty lemon or vinegar after downing that heavy plate anyway?

Not at all lmao :') it's good actually, one meal and no cravings for rest of the day. Tomorrow's meal will be my final one before doing another 48 hour fast.

Re: 2019 - BALLZ TO THE WALL

im a little late to the party but that video with the dude dryfasting for 7 days reminds me a lot of an exposee video of sorts that goes behind the scenes on this stuff. basically they infer that a guy who is jacked basically bloats themselves to **** over a course of a week and does everything possible to make their water weight/bloat huge. at that point they take their "before" picture. then by just not being a moron, they get back to their normal jacked physique. and thats how they sell people on the fads, like the "before" picture was somehow rooted in reality.

i'm sure that's not 100% what this dude is doing, its just what it reminds me of.

I heard him say on a livestream that he's just standing relaxed in the first one and did his best to do the same in the second. Granted, he did eat quite a bit before the challenge but he needed to otherwise he'd be too lean for the fast. But yeah, your point remains.

Daily Update - Thurs 10 Jan

Still waiting for this sleep thing to sort itself out. Got fkall sleep last night and felt very tired this morning when the alarm went off. I'm out of ideas as to what can be done differently.

Poker wasn't so good today.

Levelled myself in a number of spots, lots of small mistakes and some carelessness.

Also will be on my 48 hour fast as of midday today when I had my final meal. It's also rest day in the gym tomorrow so I'll have plenty of time tomorrow - I want to have a wee sleep in since I've been waking up so tired lately and I also have a few errands to run/food shop. I also wanna get a minimum of 2.5 hours study done too and catch up on some of the stuff i've missed today and yesterday.

Until next time!

Not sure. I've recently made a lot of drastic changes to my vp/pfr and winrate is hard to say because it doesn't account for rake. I think it's at least 6bb/100 though.

Re: 2019 - BALLZ TO THE WALL

Daily Update - Sat 12 Jan

Last two days have been alright. Some good poker and some good study reps, getting it done. Coaching session again tomorrow which I'm hyped for, but even more hyped for leg day tomorrow.

Bought a couple books yesterday, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People finally, I'm going to have a read of it in the bathtub now.

Not much else to report. Two days left on the grind and then Tuesday I will have the day off to do whatever tf I want, eat whatever tf I want, it's my 1 day a month so I'ma go ham. My buddy's visiting from Australia so should be some antics too.

Until next time!
