My live tournaments recently have gone pretty poorly too. Played an HPT event over the weekend that paid $45k for 1st. Played 7 hours, and was all-in only 4 times: doubled with AQ vs. KQ post-flop, chopped AJ vs. AJ pre, chopped AK vs AK pre, and busted 99 vs. 22 pre. Lol live-aments.
Anywho, had a question for you about the DONs. Did it take you very long to detach yourself from the individual wins and losses? I'm closing in on completing my first 1000 games, and I'm still getting irked here and there by some losses, whether it's by getting it in good and being sucked out on, or massive chip leaders acting stupid vs. short-stacks and basically costing me a coasted win. Is it just something that will naturally go away as time passes and I put in the volume?
lol liveaments
it took me awhile to become detached because i was pretty stubborn when i was younger, im 28 now so im still young but i have alot more experience in poker and in life in general. I've changed my view on dons, i use to look at it strictly by the $ swings. As i became better i realized that wasnt optimal. What is optimal for me is knowing how much i make per game, at $50 dons it was around $2.75 a game longterm. So i started to approach my sessions knowing i make over $2.50 a game. Now i just focus on how many games i played daily rather than how much $ im up or down any given day. It helps keep my emotions in check and it motivates me to put in volume. Since i make over $2.50 a game i tell myself playing 50 games that day ill earn over $100 no matter what the short term results are.

The final table was pretty tough but its nice playing against solid players as it makes the wins that much more appreciated
