Hi,

Decided to make a new thread to track monthly results, post some joke hands and hopefully laugh at the end of the year at the bad mood I'm currently in caused by a measly downswing.

Spoiler:

+3k live

Too many big fields to handle between dec and febr, back on the bowl grind now with a very good grind/study/gym routine.

Ty all, will do my best to keep updating.

Month is over, skipping Sunday as I have been doing a lot the last 10 months. I enjoy watching football and doing social activities way more than playing an average field size of 3000 and whining at 5am with all the other tilted mtters on Skype. Def giving up some ev but making some back by being fresh on Monday and sticking to a normal healthy rhythm.

        Results:

Low volume, even for me, and meh results. Had a 7th, 5th, 5th and 3rd in Bounty Builders, 5th in H33 and some other runs where some winning flips were needed. Happy with the bb/100 and time spent studying.

Played 3 live mtts, bricked them but played reasonably well. Probably my 13-15th live tournaments lifetime and I'm getting to the point where I'm really comfortable at the table, no shaky hands, no misplays only because of the live setting with having to count the potsize, stacksizes etc, not shying away from close spots because it would be the easy thing to do. Especially the last one I was super focused all day, saw 98% of the hands from pf to showdown, thinking about ranges, building player profiles etc which is a huge difference from before and from what a lot of regs do. On their phone all the time, one dude was even reading a **** book and had to be told to put his antes and blinds every time, too rich obv but you're missing so much info that way.

        Few hands:

        1.
        200bbs eff
Asian lady 3x utg, I make it 11bbs with KK in MP (way too small in this setting), she calls.
Flop 982r, she donks 3bbs, I make it 20bbs, call.
        Turn 9o, x x.
River 9, she donks 3bbs, I make it 100bbs, fold.

        2.
        120bbs eff
Fish utg opens 2.5bbs, utg+1 fish flats, foreign reg squeezes to 11bbs in the co, I make it 25bbs on the button with JJ, reg calls.
Check it down on AT7A, he leads half pot on 5 river, fold.

Pre is debatable as is post.

        3.
        100bbs eff
        Sb fish completes, I 4x 99.
        Flop QQ3r, x I cbet 1/3, call
        Turn T bringing bd fd, x x
River 8, sb leads 2/3 pot, I call and get shown the k7o, and "what did you put me on".

        4.
        80bbs eff
Fish opens hj (opens 52s utg, flats 65o otb, barrels everything), I call KThh in sb.
Flop AhQh9x, cbets half pot, I call.
        Turn 8h, x x
River As, I x, he bets half pot, I 3x, fold.

        5.
        90bbs eff
I open QhTd in the co 2x, German (?) reg flats sb, bb folds.
        Flop Jh9s3s, I cbet 3/4, call.
        Turn 5h, x I bet around 110% pot, call.
        River 7h, x I bet 3/4, calls j7cc.

Like my line, could shove river.

        6.
        25bbs eff.
Open Ah4h utg, fish utg+1 calls.
        Flop 2s3s8d, I cbet 2/3, call.
Turn 5d, I x/jam vs half pot bet and hold vs 88.

        7.
        60bbs eff.
Isildurs brother (absolute blaster, flats 92o in BB multiway, raises A7o 2.85x vs a few limps from the BB etc) opens co, sb flats, I call k4cc bb.
        Flop AhKhJh, x x x
        Turn 8o, x x x
River A, x I bet 25% pot, blaster 3.5x, I call and get shown QhTh oops.

River bet might be on the thin side but most random people you encounter in live mtts would've bet Ax, Kx and non nut flushes on earlier streets. River call might be a bit too loose even vs him, even though I felt he will view small sizings as weak and will attack them with random give ups.

I feel like I learn a lot every time I play live, even vs whales which makes it very nice to combine with the online grind that can be kinda repetitive and boring, playing the same tournaments and twitch regs every time.

Discussed these hands with friends and baked them in Pio, will study for another hour and back on the grind tomorrow.
        Spoiler:

Also shout out to Bencb's YouTube videos where he reviews with people that win at high stakes but are worse than some small stakes strugglers that I know.

Looks like a fun thread and I'm happy to contribute for live MTTs:

H1: Raise 20-30bb on the river to get paid

H2: Pre is fine; Lead flop and/or turn. As played probably calling the river, but I do Hero a little too much in these spots!

H4: Raise flop and be happy to try to get it in there (I think you lost a lot of value by just calling)

H5: Don't like the turn bet sizing; keep it consistent otherwise it stands out to thinking players and looks bluffy

H6: Even though it turned out well you simply cannot profitably open A4s UTG at a full table (with any number of bb), and certainly shouldn't in an MTT with just 25bb, where tight play is essential to find good spots to double up.

H7: Don't mind the stab, although size probably 50% is better; fold to the raise unless you're really sure this player has it in him to raise river as a bluff (which is a very small minority of typical player population - made the same mistake myself in last night's cash game after v-betting A7 on T8TT7, calling a raise and getting shown quads!)

-Started 4 sessions but managed to only get in 120 games. One was a Stars restart day and on the other one the apartments boiler caused short circuit.
-5hrs studying done, made some adjustments in my game because of it but the hours couldve been more effective.
        -6x exercise done
        -Ate well.

Watched the Nitsche and Kruk podcasts, it's likely that everybody who reads this watches that stuff as well but if you haven't, I would recommend it.

        Goals this week:

        -Grind 3 sessions
        -Play 1-2 live mtts
        -Study 6 hrs
        -Exercise 6x

Felt ok yesterday after bust but definitely feel a bit sad today. Thing that bothers me the most is that I want to have something to show for so **** bad. Sure my graph is pretty and okish but shipping a thousand bowls just pays some bills. One decent sized score would make such a huge difference, it would give me a bit of financial freedom to have a lot of extra time to to study instead of choosing to grind out another couple 100 in ev. I could tell non poker friends that I have shipped something that sounds like infinite money for normal people when they ask how it has been going lately. I could stop whining about big fields and pick the most +ev games instead of the lowest variance ones for a while.

All the regs that are now considered very good have sun ran at usually the beginning of their career (most of the well known ones still do ) which gives them such a massive head start with a bankroll, no pressure to grind, money to invest in coaching etc. (not talking about withered regfish pre-bf winners, **** them) I just rolled into full time poker when my student job ended and I stopped my studies, iirc up like 5k lifetime at that time, having no money saved up, moved to malta after 2 months into a dungeon with Blakkman and legend Nik and basically chasing monthly money since.

I don't want to sound like I deserve anything, I know reading whines can be very annoying and some people reading this will think 'you're not even close to good so keep playing that 20eu 1k' which is the truth soooo I'll end the ramble here, but I've heard it's good to to things off your chest.

Yeah i still play. Not that much though as i graduated two years ago and have been working full time at a Big4 for two years now, so don't have alot of free time anymore compared to my studying days . I Probably play around 6 sessions a month depending on how much free time i have and some times i take a day or afternoon off to get a session in.
