I have no intentions of jumping stakes anytime soon. If you’re looking for poor life choices and degeneracy, you’re on the wrong thread (bang bang). Although I am looking to upgrade my IPhone 6s+, any suggestions?

Played my B game today -600 in 6 hours
Played a little too loose preflop, auto piloted a lot of spots where I either checked when I should be betting, and just calling river bets without too much thought in spots that I just convinced myself were “must calls”. Played on my phone whilst on the table and just didn’t pay as much attention as I should have in general.

Bricked a massive three way all in with KJhh on JT2hhQ against AQ and AA which was lame too. But after the sun run I’ve been having, kind of expected haha.

Will be on the study grind until next weekend. Interested to understand why I didn’t play my A game today, not sure if it’s the back to back sessions as I normally only play once a week.

THE. THE. THE. GREAT. GAME

I've been dabbling in some 2c/5c PLO on Ignition for a few days now because I've been seeing how soft the online action is in the new private Malaysian games. I have no idea what I'm doing, and I'm learning by battling in the jungles blind, and it has been ridiculously fun.

Played in a live 1/1 PLO game today and this is what I can only imagine 2004 NLH was like.... People have absolutely no idea wtf they're doing. I saw someone limp call with A67Thhhh, and that was like one of the 99999 stupid things I witnessed today. Not sure how to best invest my limited time to play/study poker, but it may involve spending some time learning PLO

Armanian Mike Joke bet for stacks +1k weekend

Had a wild weekend of poker, played in table with a lot of splashy fun players that ended up being a 2/5/10 for some parts of the night. A funny hand happened:

Hero racks his chips and is about to leave.
New player (V) sits down with a short stack of $400 and posts $5.
EP raise $20 ($400)
V calls ($400)
Hero calls with 9Tss on the CO ($400 eff)

Flop comes J78cc
OR bets $20
V makes it $50
Hero makes it $150
OR folds
V tank calls

Turn is a 2
V checks
Hero joke bets his whole rack
Gets a snap call

River 8
Hero holds

Everyone laughs and I add the newly acquired chips into my rack and leave

Running bad in very favourable situations -$800 week Bankroll: 24k

Played in some ridiculously good line ups this week, convinced a bunch of splashy recs to turn a 2/5 game into a 2/5/10 game, with half of them double straddling to $20. Creating a fun atmosphere to be able to get recs to do this is an underrated skill imo. On this topic, if you're ever in this type of game, please don't be that guy to refuses to straddle and kill the vibe of the game. It happened last night and the recs felt the vibe was very predatory and they picked up and left after some people stopped straddling. Rich recs aren't stupid, they may be bad at poker, but they're usually very intelligent successful people in life who don't like being taken advantage of. #rantover

The run bad hands:
- All in on turn for 2k TJcc vs AQo on TA2ccJ for a rivered 2. The rec player snap called my massive check jam
- All in on turn for 1.2k QQ vd AKo on 8257 for a rivered King, guy 3b and then double barrelled huge
- All in in a double straddled pot for 1k QQ vs AK, although it was a flip the dealer ran out a beautiful flop of TT23.....K

Not feeling too demotivated though, still currently up 4k over the past 30 hours #sunrun.

On a side note, started dabbling in the online asian apps again, not sure how much I'll be playing, but the games are still very soft.

Potential Melbourne Poker Vlog / Instagram? +1k weekend

Only played 3 hours this week, spent the majority of my time arbitraging on the World Cup. Ran QQ vs KK vs AK in my first orbit for a buy-in, but managed to find a few favourable spots and ended up booking a 1.1k win in 3 hours.

Been playing around with instagram lately and posting pictures and videos, thinking of potentially starting a vlog if I can make the time. Not sure what the rules are about advertising on threads give me a follow on my insta at the_wholesome_reg (admin pls let me know if I have to delete)

Update: Month of July/August

Cash games
It’s been a fun month of poker for me! First half of the month I continued to run it up on the 2/5 streets and managed to finally be in he green for the first time this year (poker roll $29,000, up $1000 for the year).

Melbourne Poker Champions
The MPC was on and I fired at the $550 deep stack which I bricked, the $550 bounty which I busted but won $500 in bounties, and the $1650 main which was a sad story.

I managed to find myself on a table of Australian sickos including Kahle Burns, and somehow survived day 1 to bag an average 32BB stack. I entered day 2 only to have a tougher table draw, and ultimately busted 84/530 with 63 payouts. I had QQ into JJ pre for a 40BB pot and they got there for all the gold ):

Went on a small cash downswing towards the end of the month and my poker roll currently stands at $24,000.

Sportsbetting streets
I’ve picked up sportsbetting again with the EPL starting and the AFL/NRL wrapping up. The markets too lucrative atm to be sitting out, so probably going to take a month off poker to grind the SB streets.

Thanks for checking in!

Thanks for the kind words haha. I will probably squeeze in a session where I can this month.

Tbh I don’t update that often because I felt that people weren’t really interested/lack of responses, so sort of made this become more of a personal journal / place to reflect once a month.

Update - Month of September - bankroll: $27,500

Hi All!

The sports-betting season is going to finally be over after this weekend, it has been a long and successful grind at that front. I'm looking forward to getting stuck back into the poker study/play grind. I managed to squeeze in 20 hours of live poker this month and booked a small win of $600. However I did manage to bink a MTT on PPPoker for like 2k which was nice!

I have a bunch of content to choose to study from, I have the Upswing Educa poker course, Nick Howard's Poker Detox Nightvision, and the Jnandez PLO mastermind to get through. Very excited!! Let me know your feedback on any of those if you've gone through them.

Thinking of dabbling on apps again maybe once a week (potentially PLO?), and putting in some live volume at the 2/5 streets once a week or so.

I've been posting regular updates on my poker instagram and growing that platform which has been exciting. So if you would like more regular updates of my poker grind, DM me and I'll shoot you my instagram name!

Stay wholesome,
D

Sun running 1st week of Oct - Poker Bankroll on $32,600

With the sports-betting season officially over, I have come back firing and putting in as much volume as I can (10 hrs a week). I've been on a recent sun run, and managed to run up about 5k in the past fortnight, officially ending my horrific 10k downswing and making me +4k for the year.

Played a short session where I was getting berated and needled unnecessarily by an angry MAWG who didn't like the way I played poker. TLDR, I managed to stack him TWICE, which was absolutely satisfying. Check out my poker Instagram for the full recap (DM me for username)

Hand 1:
2/5
MAWG limps LP
Hero raises to $25 with A5dd on the BB
MAWG calls

flop ($57) comes 529ccd
Hero checks
MAWG bets for $25
Hero calls

turn ($107) comes a 6d
Hero checks
MAWG checks

river ($107) comes 8d
Hero leads for $100
MAWG jams for $450
Hero snaps
MAWG says "I have the nuts" (he had a straight)
and hero tables the cards without letting him know, and the look of confusion, and then disgust on his face when he realised the pot was going towards me rather than him.

Hand 2:
Hero has J9hh OTB and overlimps after several limps

Flop ($20) goes 4 ways to 7108ssc
MAWG leads for $15
Hero snap raises him to $75
MAWG snap raises to $155
Hero snap jams to $650
MAWG snap calls with 69o

He smirks and slams over his cards confidently. I quietly table my cards and watch him realise he doesn't have the nuts.

One thing I find is that, if you make any comment at all after winning a pot like this, they blow up straight away. It's hilarious. For example:

"What can I say, I'm a lucky guy"
"Yeah you play f**king awfully kid, you just get lucky, you're... [tilted MAWG rant]"

Nah I won these pots AFTER he was giving me grief. It stared because I tanked in a gross spot. He kept saying I was hollywooding and wasting everyone’s time, even though it’s a turbo and I paid for two time banks..... LOL

I usually just say “unlucky” after I win these kind of pots. I feel that it makes them hate you less for taking their money HAHA

Yeah but I mean, sometimes people give you sh*t throughout the night, but then they go silent for a little bit, kind of like a dormant volcano. You can cause an eruption if you know someone is mad at you, then you make a cheeky comment after they lose a pot.

This is only if you want to make them more tilted though haha.

Month of October update - TOURNAMENT BINK! - bankroll: $40,000:

So this month the Victorian Poker Championships was on, and I have been 0/6 in tournaments this year.

I fired into the following events
$450 satellite into the main - bust
$400 deep stack - bust
$550 freezeout - bust
$2300 main (sold half) - bust
$550 short deck - bust
$550 deepstack - 3rd for $11,590

It was an extremely rough tournament, I lost 60% of my stack in the first orbit. I was grinding a 30BB stack for the entire mid portions of the MTT, and then a 8-12BB stack pretty much during the entire bubble stage (24 spots paid)

Manage to really run it up after the bubble and went from 8BB to 45BB after a few favorable run outs. Went to the FT with 2x average.

Managed to get my AA cracked by KK for 40% of the chips in play with 8 players left. Somehow managed to grind an 8BB stack and watch everyone else commit absolute ICM suicide. Laddered to 3rd place, where the two big stacks (30+bb eff) got it in with AQ vs AJ pre whilst I had 10bb. Unfortunately that ended in a chopped pot and I busted out the very next hand. Locked up 11.6k for the 3rd, 2nd paid 18 and 1st paid 27. Ran decently well during the tournament and won 2 flips, and 2 70/30’s and a cheeky river 4 outer so I cant complain.

Feeling extremely blessed that I managed to turn the last planned tournament of the year into a win. I was stuck around 7k in MTT buyins this year being 0/10.

Put in some small volume on the cash grind during the series and pretty much broke even.

Not sure what the month of November will be looking like. Tossing up between continuing to play live, jumping back on the apps scene, or taking a break to do some sportsbetting (horse racing season in Melb atm)

On a bright note. I’ve managed to negotiate a four day work week beginning next year. I plan on taking every Friday off and spending those hours playing poker and sportsbetting. The current plan is to make Senior consultant by the end of next year and then taking a gap year to travel and then re evaluate lifestyle.

Thanks for checking in,
D (:

Thanks! Our KPI is based off utilization rates (ie how many chargeable client hours as a % of total hours worked), so they will pro rata my total hours worked to 30 hours instead of 37.5. Shouldn’t be too detrimental to my promotion chances, as long as I build a good case around it. Think it’s a +ev choice overall because 4 days a week of work makes life a lot more enjoyable (:

KPMG might project and promote healthy work/lifestyle balance and reward high achievers with flexible working hours, but they are notorious for doing back flips and reneging on handshake deals. Becoming a more frequent Crown patron might not fit the business image KPMG want you to project. A quick look around Glassdoor might highlight how quickly the workplace can change for the KPMG contractor.
From what I have gleaned for KPMG HR staff, they monitor all social media, and that includes this forum. Tread carefully - you never know who is watching and reading. (they really do know a hell of a lot more about you than what you realise)
