Any particular 'aha' moments along the way when you were studying? Also, did you structure your study in any particular way?

Re: 2016 PCG - MSNL and HSNL

Pretty broad question, but do you think that it's still possible in today's games to get to high stakes NL from the 500z pool, without the help of a massive heater at midstakes/tournament bink? Very few people have made the jump in the past 2/3 years (off the top of my head; you, 1nvoker, cipple, bit2easy? to some degree).

It was HU and my opponent was not a reg.
You can fold rivers that complete his most obvious bluffs, but I had only seen craziness, so I can't fold this hand on a brick river. He may play a counterfeit two pair like this.

Until I settledm into 500 zoom after about 230k hands, that is when I became a lot better.

No moments in particular, mostly learning stuff from Sauce and Galfond, and talking to other players.
There was no real structure. I just watched a video after dinner time or before I went to bed.

You can definitely do it, as long as you play enough, put in the work and have a bit of talent maybe.
There is a big difference in regulars at high stakes. There are players who could not beat 200NL zoom there, as well as the world's best players.
I am not a top reg and I play more volume at 500 - 2k than 5k.

Isn't cipple a fishreg on a heater who randomly shows up?
And are you taking a stab at Linus there?

Appreciate the response bro. Interesting that you use the word 'talent' - is that something that you still think is a factor in the world of PIO/RIO/crEV? Or do you more mean having the right kind of mind to really get into poker.

It wasn't intended as a #shotsfired post at anyone, really. Cipple may well be a fishreg, but he beat 500z for something absurd like 18bb/100 over half a mill hands last year (can't remember exact figures, cancelled my rPTR when they stopped tracking zoom).

Who's the best 6-max 100bb NL player in your opinion?

Talent is a big factor imo and shouldnt be underestimated.

Also how u think about money.

Im quite sure i could still succesfully bumhunt til maybe 1k but dont have teh balls to do so.

Especially today alot of guys who debatably could play higher choose not to in > sacraficing EV for lower variance and peaze of mind.

If you cant stand teh heat you have to stay out of teh kitchen and i dont cook anyways

agreed with timstone about peace of mind thing, when you've reached all your monetary goals from poker you kind of just keep playing in a stress free environment if that makes sense... different for everybody though, some people handle big swings better than others

Talent is much less of a factor than it must have been years ago, but simply running sims won't get you far if you don't know how to approach the game.

I was kind of trolling about Cipple. He doesn't play much anymore.

And OTB is by far best. Any other answer is ridiculous.
Even a guy like Kanu admits it.

Re: 2016 PCG - MSNL and HSNL

Last couple of days have been hectic again. I won and lost a bunch, so I am taking a break today. I have been running too good, which makes me lazy and spewy.
I deservedly lost a lot yesterday, and it will bring me back to normal again.

I tend to wake up and play within 10 minutes, which is really bad for someone like me, who is a zombie for the first two hours after waking up.

I'll be doing a lot of studying today, and play again tomorrow. I want 70k hands this month, and I am a bit behind pace.

Did you play the games with Fedor(Crownupguy) like 2 days ago?
How does he think he can win playing 6 tables 10k deep against the best.
You played with him yet? What do you think of his 6max game?

I haven't played him at 10k, just a bit at 2k.
But I have seen a lot of hands, and he is pretty good.
He doesn't claim he thinks he's winning, but I know he's got some tricks up his sleeve, let's just say that.

Are you the only poker player in the UK who is actually English, and always has the nuts? Or someone else?

Re: 2016 PCG - MSNL and HSNL

More hands coming soon.
I have not been motivated at all lately and I clearly see it hurting my grinding approach and level of play.
Games have been amazing lately, though it is fairly hard to get into them.

I went on a nice trip to Gozo yesterday, which is a small island belonging to Malta. It's basically Malta but with less traffic and more scenery and food.
At the end of the year, I will be taking a long vacation trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar, as I haven't had a break longer than two days in the last 6 months.

Today was a long day; I played for 6 hours, but only got 2000 hands in.
Went from -8.5k to + 2.5k, so all in all fairly satisfied.
