January recap

It was a slow month without many games, until 200 400 popped up.
I ran pretty well everywhere but got crushed every time I played nosebleeds.
The 40k games were insane fun though, as we usually played with 100k+ stacks and we had to show every hand.

January graph

I will go on vacation soon, and I'm really excited. No laptop, no skype, just nature.
My friend sent me a video about how close animals can get to you during safari.

We have to get all the way to the top of this beast

I did Killimanjaro/Safari before and it's epic. The hike isn't actually that tough, it just comes down to whether your body adjusts well to less oxygen or not. Make sure you leave super early/hike at a faster pace on summit day because you'll catch the sun rise at the top if you do (and you don't want to miss that if you can!) If you're in reasonable shape have decent WIM should be good to go. Anyhow, the reason I wanted to give you a heads-up before you left is to tell you that Tanzania is THE spot to buy Tanzanite. You can go into the town and find good jewelers and buy it for much less than say walking into Tiffanys on 5th Avenue New York. Plus you'll actually have a story about how you got it. I regret not buying more and I'm a nit for purchases (just take with you on plane, can be made into rings/necklace for significant others down the road or whatever). But long story short its a super rare beautiful gem found only in the world in this specific area you're visiting. Way way more cool than diamonds, other gems you've heard of etc and more beautiful. Highly highly recommend looking at purchasing something like that because it's epic/unless you ever specifically go back to Tanzania you'll never be around the inventory & pricing they have there. Just something to think about. (and haha side note: I'd be super grateful if I could somehow give you pre x-fer you $ on stars and get you to pick a stone for me I would [being serious!, let me know, I'd obv send first based on your rep])

Enjoy the trip!

PS - one more thing you should do is if you have more room in your bag I'd recommend bringing some American/Canadian candy (that won't melt) that you can give away to the children when you go into town/see a village (if you do that, which you should). The kids/people there are amazing and stuff like that they never get to try. It's an amazing experience to give something away so trivial/something we take for granted in our culture (say candy/whatever else you can fit in your bag) and see how genuinely excited they are to receive it. They're just awesome people I remember thinking I wish I had more stuff for them. So yeah if you can, jam some stuff into your bag to give away you won't regret it.

Thanks for the awesome advice.
I never heard of these gems, but I might buy some for the future.
If you live in Europe, I could send one to you if you like.

And I will definitely take some small presents with me, even though we won't spend much time in the city.

Even if you're not much in the city.. last day of hike, all the guides etc at the base of the mountain you could drop 'em off with them. They'll have friends/family and you can just tell them to take for themselves/family and they will love it . I left them most of my gear (some of these guys were doing the hike in bare feet, its nuts)

I'm in Canada! does that still work for you?

And yeah, anyway, enjoy the trip/survive the safari! Super jealous.. Going to have to take my gf and go back one day!

I ended up not buying Tanzanite because I don't know enough about gems and I was afraid I would get scammed.

It's been a long time, but I finally made it back to this place for an update.

Most of february was spent on an unforgettable trip in Tanzania and Zanzibar, with my friend Svansa.
I'll be linking a more detailed trip review soon.

In short, we spent almost week in nature, on a fantastic safari trip. We saw hundreds of thousands of animals, a cheetah hunting a baby antelope, tight forests and savannas stretching beyond our eyesight.

Then it was time to pack up and start climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
It was for sure the toughest challenge I've faced, especially after getting sick. But, somehow, we made it all the way to the summit.
Going down was no pick nick either. Speaking of food; the altitude destroys your appetite, and all you want to do is fall asleep. Which happened many times. Even standing up.

Back from the mountain, we flew to the beautiful Tanzanian island of Zanzibar. Our plan was to eat, sleep and swim, and we accomplished just that.
The island was disappointing at first because the capital was uninteresting and there isn't much to do on the island. But our opinion made a 180 degree turn, once we arrived at Nungwi beach.
That little piece of sand was magical; White sand, accompanied by azure colored water, full of fish.
Almost a month of vacation is more than enough, and I was happy to finally go back home.

Back home, poker welcomed me with open arms, as I've run great since coming back.

February and march graph

No more vacation until summer. I'll be doing a lot of grinding, coaching and I've got some new projects lined up.
One of them is putting together a grind house, built for poker players to live and work in, and help each other improve.
I'll post more information about it very soon.

My buddy, and Twoplustwo whore, GazzyB will be asking me some questions on our Twitch channel, live at 7 PM this saturday night.
It won't be replayable, so don't miss it. No nits allowed.
