The end time

After the dust settled from the high school expulsion I had to make plans for the future. My grades had declined so much in high school that my only option was the local community college with plans to transfer after completing some credits. I signed up for a couple classes and my mom wanted me to get a job as well if I was going to continue living at home.

Once I turned 18 I had a different outlook on the type of risks I was willing to take. As a minor I had no qualms about doing the things I had done because the penalties were much less harsh. I decided I would no longer sell any drugs and would try to go to school and take it serious. My family was putting some pressure on me and I felt ashamed for getting kicked out of school and I think a part of me wanted to make things right.

With Tom's passing I started spending all my free time with Will. During these years we became so close he was like a brother to me. I still smoked all the time but around the age of 17 I started drinking the whole day. Me and Will preferred beer but we'd drink liquor when we were going out usually. Being around him all the time made it really easy to not deal anymore. He couldn't help himself, he was just like a leech that had to attach himself to anyone who had anything going on and feed off of them until he had completely sucked them dry. If I really wanted to be the man it could never happen with him around so it was kind of easy to stick with my goal of going somewhat straight. Unfortunately this also lead to my reputation being further tarnished. With me and him being together at all time we were basically treated as the same person. Even if I wanted to get back into things it would've been much more difficult because people would be very wary of dealing with me for anything significant. It seemed like we were just always getting drunk and hatching plans and our list of people who we wanted to get would just grow and grow. We had gotten accustomed to smoking the best weed everyday for so many years that it just turned into a vicious cycle. We'd find out who had it, we'd get mad because they'd try to charge us sucker prices, we'd plot on them, sometimes get them sometimes not and then that whole circle would try to hide from us that they had anything going on. We'd burned so many bridges in that area and everyone Robin introduced me to from her school that it wasn't even funny. I think I just felt entitled and if I couldn't live my lifestyle by selling drugs there was just no way I could give it up.

Will had a couple scores during this time. Someone had pissed his brother off so he sicked Will on him and he was able to walk in and out with 10 lbs+. Another big timer got his house robbed and Will was immediately flush the next day and I was able to put that together easily. We had a guy that would sell us eighths and sometimes more and we would go play pool at his house and drink beer sometimes. He was renting a room in his house to a guy Will knew and he mentioned how they grew everything there. Me, Will and another guy ransacked the place for all the plants. Eventually the well ran dry and literally no one would deal with us. I'm sure he was getting blamed for robberies that he wasn't even involved in. It got so bad we'd have to drive into the closest major city and buy drugs from people on the street corner just to get high.

The next few years of my life were pretty happy. Me and Robin had been dating for a few years and when she graduated high school she decided to not go away to college and went to a local school instead so we could still be close together. I didn't complete any college credits but I felt like I had turned my life in a better direction and didn't feel as bad about myself as I had when I was younger. I never knew who my true friends were before and who was close to me just to get something from me. For the first time in my life I felt like I had people around me who really cared about me and I wasn't completely focused on money. Most of the time I didn't have much and it didn't even bother me. As long as I had what I needed and could do what I wanted to do that was enough for me.

I ended up having to move out of my moms house and dropped out of school. At first I stayed at a friends house that was very close to Robins house but that didn't last long. Once she started college I found a place to rent that was close to her school. It was affordable and I had just met one of the guys who lived in this townhouse and he told me they needed a roommate. There were two guys living there a couple years younger than me and they loved to drink. This place was in the county I was born in and the money around here was flowing. I mean it was a whole new world, in comparison to where I went to high school me and Will had been fighting with wolves over scraps. These kids around here were just lambs being lead to slaughter. Being distanced from Will and being set up in a whole new area where no one knew who I was made resorting to my old ways far too tempting.

Moved out

So I had moved out of my moms house and was finally on my own. The townhouse I moved into with my two roommates seemed like an ok place for me and I liked living in this area. The owner was my roommates dad and he would never come to the house. His son was kind of a pushover so our place became the hangout spot for neighborhood kids. There would always be people over and every time I walked in the front door they were hanging out in the living room, drinking and smoking. I'd sell them weed and they'd bug me to get them beer all the time. It didn't bother me much, there was a couple times me and Robin were trying to sleep and there was loud partying going on but it was still better than living at home.

There was public housing within walking distance and some of the kids from that neighborhood would hang out at our place everyday. Pookie was either mildy ******ed or had a speech impediment and was always ****ed up. Rob was like the neighborhood bully and had knocked out all the teeth of this other kid that would hang out there a lot. Hector didn't live in the public housing but in the townhouses right next to it. His family was from Honduras but he'd grown up in the states. Mitchell would come over but he hadn't started playing poker yet and I just knew him from partying, he lived in the mega rich area within driving distance.

Robin would come over all the time and it was only a few miles from her college. I'd mostly take her up to my room, if we sat in the common area these guys would ogle her and it made her uncomfortable. One night my roommates and some other guys had some high school girls over and they'd smoked some PCP. They got these two girls ****ed up and ran train. Me and Robin had gone to sleep and one of the girls knocked on our door in the middle of the night. When I opened it she asked if she could come in and I said no. One of my roommates came to the door high as hell and said something like "yo come on she wants to ****, she's ready" I closed the door and crawled back into bed and Robin went crazy. It took weeks to convince her that this wasn't a regular occurrence and I wasn't doing that kind of thing with girls my roommates had over.

One day I was in my room cutting up weed and I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I covered it up and opened the door and Rob was standing there. I'd heard stories about him robbing people for money and drugs so I immediately felt uneasy. I had a good amount underneath the blanket and he weighed about 80 lbs more than me. He asked if I had anything and walked in and sat down on the couch. I decided it'd be better to tell him I did since it was common knowledge that I always had it and I didn't think he would believe me if I said no. I asked him how much and we talked about price and then I pulled the blanket back and gave him what he wanted. He'd seen everything I had but he left and that was that. Within a week or so the house got broken into and the thieves went into my room by breaking the lock on the door. One of my roommates was home when it happened but was passed out drunk with his girlfriend. I suspected it was Rob but it could've been any of those kids who knows. I didn't have anything stashed there when it happened but they took my PlayStation and some CDs.

One night me and Robin were at the house and Hector and one of his friends were at the house drinking. They asked me if I would drive them to get some weed and I told them no. I guess I didn't have any or something. They insisted and kept offering me stuff to drive them and finally I broke down and said fine. We pile in the car, me and Robin in the front with Hector and his buddy in the back. He takes me to some ghetto neighborhood and we pull up to a guy standing on the corner. Hector is drunk and doesn't buy whatever the guy is trying to sell and tells me to pull around to the other side of the block. Some other guy comes to the car window and Hector goes through the same thing with him. We pull off and I park down the street. They start arguing in the backseat and Hectors friend tells him to give him the money and he'd handle it. He gets out of the car and starts walking back towards the dealer. I watch in the rear view as he walks up to them. They start arguing and then swinging at each other. He's outnumbered 4:1 and within seconds he's on the ground getting stomped. Hector starts yelling we gotta get out and help him. Robin is screaming for me to drive off. I chose the middle ground and just sat in the car. Once they were done with him he pulled himself up and made his way back to the car, beaten bloody. Hector wouldn't let up all night about how I didn't help him. There were rumors going around about how Hectors friend and his brothers were coming after me because I let him get stomped and sat and watched but nothing ever came of it.

Me and Robin were out one night with friends and we came to my place to sleep. I opened the front door to see quite a scene. There was a few girls running around frantically, screaming and yelling "call 911, call 911". My roomate was fumbling with the phone and didn't even notice me and Robin. I walked in the kitchen to find Pookie slumped on the floor leaning against the stove, clutching his stomach with a knife protruding from it. I grabbed Robin and we left immediately. I returned the next day and my roommate told me Pookie was drunk and got mouthy with some girl that was over and she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him with it. He was okay after being taken to the ER. I let him know that I was going to find a new place to live.

Played atrocious, deserved to lose. Continuing trend of losing or breaking even in biggest games I'm able to get into. At this point I just expect to not win a lot every time, I'm snakebit.
