I'll try to figure it out the next time I'm there and there's not a blizzard going on. Hopefully this storm is not as bad as predicted or the games may suck this weekend.

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

I'm trying to play online, and there are no games running online. This is brutal. There's a 100NL and a 10NL, but I want to play 20NL or 50NL. 100 online is too big for my online roll, and 10 is way too low, but that's what I'm on the list for.

Man, Delaware's lottery people are doing a terrible job promoting and running these games. Brutal.

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

So I managed to get 4 50NL games going and crush them for a few hours, +372 including some bonuses cleared. The hilarity of some of the hands is amazing. I feel like I'm printing money. I got coolered a couple of times and still won over 7 buy-ins.

This was my favorite hand, though - only because of the villain's comment afterward.

.25/.50 NL

Preflop (.75): CO posts, BTN limps, I raise to $2.50 in the SB with AJ. CO calls, BTN calls.

Flop ($7.85): 765

I bet $5.75, CO calls, BTN moves all-in for $27.04. I call, of course, getting more than 2-1. He has 89o (no hearts). I turn the heart flush.

His comment, with spelling errors preserved: "call it ona draw u must be in bred"

Another favorite hand, villain has $127 (254 BB) and I cover. I'm in the BB. Villain is the SB. Folds to the villain, he limps. I raise to $1.50. He moves all-in. Sadly, I did not wake up with a real hand. I had like A8 or something. I got called all-in on the flop once by AKo for a full stack, so that was nice. I had him drawing to a non-spade K and he bricked. The play is SO bad. I love it! Just wish there were more games.

Live Roll: ~$3,600

Online Roll: $573

Old Online Roll on Black Chip I need to withdraw: $500ish (I'll stick 200 back in the bank to account for the deposit)

Total Roll: ~$4,473

As far as those short-term goals go?

1. Process the withdrawal of the $500 on BlackChip Poker - I've submitted the documents they need, so I have to wait on them now.

2. Lose 17 pounds by end of February (from 242 to 225). - I'm down 2 pounds so far.

3. No fast food or soda between now and 2/18. - So far, so good. I'm currently enjoying a carrot-apple-ginger juice.

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

So I got a little afternoon online session in before work. Played about 150 hands, won almost $80 at .25/.50. My favorite hand...

We're 3 handed. I raise 9T to $1.50 on the button. SB calls, BB calls. SB is new, the BB is god awful. Effective stacks are $50.

Flop ($4.28): T95

It checks to me. I bet $3.37 by clicking the 3/4 button. The SB min raises me to $6.74. The BB folds. A pot-sized re-raise would be for like half of his stack, so I just jam. He snap calls with QQ.

The board bricks out, ship it, and then he takes to the chat to say: "pathetic"

God, I love these players.

Live Roll: ~$3,600

Online Roll: $652

Old Online Roll on Black Chip I need to withdraw: $500ish (I'll stick 200 back in the bank to account for the deposit)

Total Roll: ~$4,550

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

It's tough to track stats on Delaware's online poker because you can't export hand history, but I've gone through by hand to get my 50 NL stats. They may be off a little, but it should be about right.

Profit: $393.93
Hands: 3,134 (this includes hands I sat out at the table, so it's actually lower)

$/100 Hands: $12.57
bb/100: 25.14

Dare I say it's sustainable? These games are REALLY soft.

Just arrived to my home away from home for a weekend of grinding. I'll be doing a marathon session tomorrow. Very interested to see how well I can maintain my focus and such over 24+ hours. If I run good, the bankroll could be surging.

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

I'm just getting crushed tonight. In for $620 and I'm sitting on like $120 or something. Took a break to eat. Basically picking up a ton of hands preflop and either whiffing multi-way or getting drawn out on. Also picked up AKo against a straddle in the blinds, button makes it $20, I make it $65, he jams like $70 more and has AA. Just had to lay down KK on a QJ3 rainbow flop when I got check-minraised by a guy who was mediocre, but tight and hadn't raised pre-flop without a monster. He also winked at me, and I believed him.

It went... A few limps, I raise to $15 in the CO. He calls from SB after seemingly contemplating a raise. Two other calls.

Flop ($60): QJ3 rainbow.

Checks to me, I bet $50. A little big, but I had like $170 and thought 50 and a call made 160 and a 3/4 pot shove, as opposed to like 40 making it 140 and a 130 shove. He minraised to $100 and I knew right away I was screwed.

I'm thinking of trying to play a shorter session tonight and crash early, because I kind of want to get up and watch the USA/Russia hockey game tomorrow...

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

February 14 - Valentines Day - "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City, Aint No Love in the Heart of Town"

On the way to the poker table, I saw a guy with his chick going to Wolfgang Puck who was definitely NOT getting any tonight. How do I know a guy dropping coin on a fancy dinner on Valentine's Day who's already with a girl is not getting laid? Easy. She was wearing a dress. He was wearing a Derrick Brooks Pro Bowl jersey. On V-Day, that's not the Tampa 2, it's the prevent defense. I bet that s*** will come back to bite him in the ass on Steak and BJ Day, too. It's going to be Chick Flick and PB&J Day for him.

Anyway, I got one of the best 1/2 NL tables I've seen in a while, but I couldn't do a damn thing with it. In the beginning, I was in the 7 seat and the 9 seat was a really cute girl who is a dealer at another casino in AC. She was GREAT for the game. Really LAGGY, but also friendly, talkative and keeping all of the guys entertained. She knew how to play, but was too loose and the more she drank the more that was emphasized - but she seemed to just be having fun.

The best way to describe her was pretty, not in a girl next door sense, but in a cool chick sense. Not glamorous, but a girl that you could tell would be cool to hang out with and still had the looks. Normally that'd be a type I'd be interested in, but I make it a point not to try to pick up girls at the poker table. I'd give you some speech about focusing on the grind, etc, but in reality it's because I'm a pussy. That, and if you get shot down in general, you walk away... At a poker table, especially a good game, you're going to wallow in the awkwardness for a while if you try and fail.

Anyway, the table conditions were almost perfect. When other people are talkative, I'm really good at cracking some jokes, playing off of them and getting other people in on the fun mood. I'm not as good at being the one to start all that, which I'd like to improve.

Regardless of the conditions, I'm basically just bleeding money at this table. I kept picking up KJ+ in LP or AJ+ in MP/EP, raising, getting called in 3-6 spots and whiffing. Or I'd 3B AK, get cold called and whiff a JT9ss flop and get donked into. This was a table you were going to have to make hands at to win pots.

Then I pick up KhJs in the CO with 3 limpers and raise to $12. The button calls and two other players call.

Flop ($46): KJ8 rainbow

It checks to me and I bet $25. I'd normally bet 30-35 here, but it's a rainbow and there aren't a ton of draws - really just QT and T9. The BTN folds, one of the limpers calls.

Turn ($96): Q, putting out two spades

The other guy bets like $70ish and has about $90 behind. I'm like, WTF, because it seems like that card hit him, why else would he rando-donk the turn? But he could very well have any two pair that hit the Q, flopped two pair afraid of the 3 straight trying to charge draws, as well as T9, or even QT still. If I give him KQ, K8, J8, QJ, Q8, QT, T9, 88, I'm pretty much not going to fold so I just jam it in. He snap calls, T9 is good, sir.

I already told you about the hand I folded KK on and the AK vs AA. There were a couple others where I flopped decent and had to fold to aggression from the wrong player. Lots more raising good cards, whiffing like 5 ways and shutting down.

Eventually the girl left, and this guy at the other end of the table went on like super monkey tilt and starting spewing and antagonizing people and being an enormous dick. There was one hand he raised, and I was one of five callers in the SB with 88.

Flop ($55): TTT

I check, intending to raise, and the BB fires $65. It folds back to me and I'm still kind of shocked. What a weird overbet. Obviously he doesn't have the T, but he's not making that type of bet with like Ax. I basically figured him for like 55-QQ. I beat 3, chop with the other 8s, lose to 99-QQ. If we widen the range, I think he's more likely to have KK or AA than 33 or 44. In addition, if I call/raise, he's probably going to shut down with the weaker hands and fire away with the higher end of his range and I'm out of position. Sick spot, and I just folded.

There was also a spot where I flatted AKo on the button with two calls in front for $7. Basically just mixing it up, and was sick of 3betting and whiffing. Should've 3bet it, though. Then one of the blinds made it $67 and got two calls. We were like $300 deep and he had been talking about never 3 betting JJ or worse earlier, and I believed him. I tanked and folded - he ended up having KdQd. The way the board ran out, I would have lost anyway, unless I jammed and he called. Obviously I should have shoved, given his holding. So I was a little off all day, at least in terms of laying down some good hands or being in weird spots.

Anyway, back to that angry/spewy guy... He got two outed on the river, and was throwing chips and cards and whining to the dealer. He rebought up to $300 but they were almost out of reds so he had to take a bunch of whites. That angered him even more. Very next hand...

He raises to $11 up front, one call. I call with Ac5c, basically deciding that he's going to fire three streets and probably end up all-in with any two cards. I have approximately $200, he covers.

Flop ($30): Qs8x5x

He bets $21. Other guy folds. I call and basically decide the plan here is call him down unless it gets really, really ugly.

Turn ($70): 9s

He bets $43. I call.

River ($156): 4s

He moves all-in. I tank a bit and call. He has Ks3s. Nice hand, sir. I firmly believe he was three barreling and all the money was going in no matter what with any two, because he had done that before after losing hands. He called down w/ A3 high in one spot when the other guy clearly had at least trips. I feel like basically raising on the flop or turn does not have fold equity against anything I beat or anything drawing remotely live and costs me some small amount of equity because it might knock him off some bluffs. I'm sure people here will disagree, but I still feel pretty good about the way I played it.

The walk back to my room SUCKED. Walking past all the drunk hot girls on a normal weekend is bad enough when you're doing the solitary grinder thing and single, but walking past all the girls dressed to the nines with their boyfriends on Valentines Day felt like the nut low. Although, the dudes waiting in line with their girls to eat at Metropolitan of all places were really paying the relationship rake. Yikes.

Of course, there's the other perspective... To quote the interlude of a Drake song... "Makin it to the top, all the way to the top. You need to go for the money, and not the honey, you know what I'm sayin? ... Wise words from a decent man / back when I was tryin'a put a ring on Alicia's hand."

I should probably be more focused on making money at the tables, advancing my career, making those tough life choices, padding my life roll, moving out, improving my social life in general, and THEN going after the woman.

I also crushed a bag of M&Ms, which I guess could be construed as losing my no fast food goal, but technically it's not fast food, despite being complete crap to eat, so I'm going to ignore it.

End result: -$750 in 6 hrs, 14 minutes. Back at it tomorrow. The plan is to wake up early, watch Team USA beat Russia and then grind for 25-30 hours and check back in on Sunday and crash. Then I have to be up REALLY early and go work on Monday. Then I'll crash for a couple hours and grind late into the night... Then, because of some issues coordinating a meeting at work that was supposed to happen last week, I have to go back in on Tuesday. I'll probably either play online or at Delaware Park after that...

So my goal is to get 45ish hours in over the course of the trip now.

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

So that sand castle is still in the lobby of the Borgata. (Same pic from before..)

For whatever reason, every time I walk past it I have the same two thoughts. One is totally sensible - why is there a sand castle in the Borgata lobby in freaking February? The other, not so sensible...

I wonder, if I jumped over that little railing and started just going apes*** on that sand castle, how long it would take someone to stop me? Or what if I just threw something at it and took out one tower? Would security converge as if I'd just grabbed a stack of chips off a table and ran for it? I mean, someone pulled a successful smash and grab on the jewelry store a while back, so I can't imagine they'd be to the sand castle all that fast. Would I have 30 seconds? 60? I think I could take the whole thing down in that time.... and what kind of looks would the other people there give me? What kind of horrified faces would be staring back at me? Would I get kicked out? 24 hour ban? Permaban?

Then, I wonder how many other people have had this thought. There are a lot of crazy people in casinos, and that sand castle has been there for a while. I'm kind of amazed nobody has tried it yet.

I kind of think it'd be fun. Psychoanalyze THAT, folks. I blame Bill Burr's muffins routine for planting the thought in my head.

Glad I'm not the only sicko. We should do a prop bet. We each throw a quarter and see who can do more damage. We just need someone to create a diversion!

I'm about two hours in and again I'm running like a cripple trying to go uphill in a broken wheelchair. I lost like 700 in 1.5 hours while dragging a total of one pot. In the last 8 hours or so, I've won one pot over like $50 and the board ran out brutal for my AA so I couldn't even get full value in that hand against a total POW (pay off wizard).

But here's the real bad beat. I'm sandwiched in between a woman who looks about 120 and a man who appears to be in his 70s. One of them is producing the foulest smelling farts in poker history. Like, it's probably 2 to 1 they actually shat themselves a little. It's putrid. My eyes watered a little.

At any rate, I'm fighting the cards and the "elements" and I'm on 355, so I'm -645 at the moment. Lots of session left, though. Maybe we'll just smash the bad beat and I can go sit 2/5.

Just had the fish dead to a 3 outer to chop. Binked it. 3 hours in and I'm still getting murdered. Any other card on the river and it's all going in and I'm winning a $500+ pot. -695.

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

February 15 - How to Lose $700 in 90 Minutes

1. Run TPTK into a flopped set against a guy whose preflop range is ATC and his post flop range is any piece, any draw, or any whim. -$150

2. Run a turned set into a turned flush against the same player. The guy is showing down bottom pair rag kicker against everyone else with 3 streets of value, but he's running like God against you. -$150

3. Flop bottom two out of the small blind against top two and get trapped. -$300

4. Fish limps, you know he'll call almost any amount, so you raise to $20 on the button with AKo. He calls. You whiff and fire and he calls w/ J7 on a QJX flop. Shut it down w/ check-check, check-check and whiff on your 10 outs twice. -$50

5. Limp QJ in LP, flop JT9. Fire at it a couple times, whiff, and see Q8. -$50

Easy as that, boys. Easy. As. That. I'm now stuck almost $800, because after clawing my way back a bit, I got flush over flushed by that fish. He's gotta be like 95/10 VPIP/PFR.... Somehow he's played that way for four hours and not gone busto. This is now a $1500+ downswing in two days.

If I lose the $215ish I have on the table, I'll be down half my bankroll in two days. I've made some questionable calls I guess, but I don't think I've played that poorly. I'm just getting crushed by the deck. I'm not going to lose my whole roll in a week, though... If I lose the last $215, we will hit the low point of this thread. I'll probably end up sleeping in my car in the garage.

This thread is nearly as entertaining as a good Game of Thrones or Homeland episode. Bravo. All of the suspense, excitement, drama, and celebration with none of the production costs!

I'll keep an eye on this one. Go win some money!

Re: 2014: I Ainít Trying to Survive, Iím Trying to Live it to The (No) Limit

Oh yeah, I left this gem out.

Limped 6 ways, I check the BB w/ 58o.

Flop ($11): J64 rainbow

A couple of checks and the fish bets $11. Two calls, I call. We're like 300 deep and if I spike the nuts on the turn, I'm reasonably confident I can get at least $200 out of him.

Turn ($51): 7 completing the rainbow

I check, the fish fires $20. There's a call and a fold. I raise to $80. He contemplates raising and just calls. The other guy tanks and folds.

River ($231): 8

Perfect. Instead of jamming and likely getting called, I'm going to have to bet about 1/2 my stack and hope for the call anyway. I bet $100. He calls. Tables J5. Chop it up. Lovely. Nice 3 outer to the chop.

This is how to not go busto when playing 95/10 VPIP/PFR.

Thanks! Appreciate it, although I was more of a Breaking Bad guy myself. Also, memo to everyone - True Detective is AWESOME. Go check it out. The last 5-10 minutes of last week's episode was the best TV since Breaking Bad (I know, it hasn't been that long). It's a very, very well directed show. Awesome camera angles and creative directing.

OK - what are the veteran tips for that move? Do share. And should I worry about security at all? I actually have a pillow and blanket in there, and because of the snow I took my parents minivan instead of the car because it has antilock brakes. Thus, I have a spacious ride and some of the luxuries needed for a reasonable sleep.

I usually just hung some clothes up to cover the back seat windows and knocked out. Never had an issue with security.

How the **** do you sleep in a car in this weather???

Cuse I might make a trip to Borgata Monday and stay over if you want to share a room. I get 1/week comped.

I'm in the same boat as you. Lost 25% of my bankroll in 2 weeks. 8 BI downswing, but there has definitely been some super tilt spew in there as well - which I guess is sometimes inevitable when you're down swinging so hard.

The nice part is that I'm not hitting flops like you are. I just whiff everything so its been a nice slow bleed of $3200.

That's my main concern. I have a big blanket but it may not be enough. I appreciate the offer but I already have a room tomorrow night and Monday. If you want to grab Noodles of the World or something, hit me up. I'll PM you my number.

That's sick man sorry to hear it. I've done plenty of whiffing too. I don't think I've tilted, I think I've just made tough decisions in difficult/bad spots.

Crazy thing just happened! I flopped a set and got a turn raise called but he folded the river. Still, it's progress.
