2016 Week 3 Results: January 15-21

If you recall, this was a big broadcast week, and I also lost basically a full day of play yesterday because the opportunity to reconnect with an old friend came up and I couldn't pass on it. Still decent, and I'm pretty sure I'll get to my private monthly hours goal, but I do need to finish strong and hit my weekly goal this last week.

The fitness results are going extremely well, so that's encouraging. I believe I'm now down 8 pounds this month, which is 22 since September and 35 from my highest weight (not sure when the date was on that one).

[32.5/40] Play 40 Hours of Live Cash

[3.5/5] Study Poker for Five Hours

[X] Spend 2+ Hours on Launching an Online Business

[3/3] Lift Three Times

[3/4] Do Something Active on 75% of Non-Lifting Days

2016 Week 4: January 22-31

[ ] Play 55 Hours of Live Cash

I need almost all of it to hit my private goal in the volume group.

[ ] Study Poker for Five Hours

[ ] Spend 2+ Hours on Launching an Online Business

[ ] Lift Four Times

It’s a long week, so four instead of three.

[ ] Do Something Active on 75% of Non-Lifting Days

I need a social algorithm.

Well played.

BTW - have you hit any of your volume goals itt? It seems like you have no problem hitting the vanity and 'meta' life goals. Work volume should be easy.

Followed your thread for a while quietly, really enjoying the read. Gl with future goals!

Thought id pop in on the Doyle stuff. I may be thinking of someone else but I remember reading about a game where a guy raises all in on the river and puts his life on it, literally while putting a gun to his head. The ultimate bluff! Which he lost and paid for with his life.

Poker players tend to disrespect whales as almost lesser people even though they're often the most successful people at the table in whatever they do for a living. Many of them are smart and self-aware enough to know they're the live ones and that we want them to think we don't always have a hand when we raise them so they'll lose more to us. With these guys, the worst thing we can do is be disingenuous in any way. If they whisper and ask if I play for a living, I don't lie to them - it's a mutual respect, they like the challenge and the gamble but they don't want their intelligence insulted.

They also show a lot more cards that don't go to showdown than we do, and the lack of reciprocity is highlighted if we tell them what we had and don't show it. (As opposed to doing neither, which is fine.)

So that's the very long answer of why I don't think he'd ever believe anything I told him when I 3bet him, and might even be annoyed/insulted I'd tell him without showing him.

Solid explanation. Also, story theft is tried and true. Good stories are meant to be retold.

Thanks... I'm pretty sure I haven't hit any volume goals in here. I'm having a decent month so far, though, as far as volume goes. (99 hours and counting)

I've never heard that story... Don't give anyone any ideas!

That's not the answer to the Doyle one.

Yeah, that's not it. I'll wait until tomorrow and give the answer if nobody guesses it. For those who didn't see it before, Doyle has seen five people die at the table. Three were from old age, two were shot in the head for the same reason... What's the reason?

Yep, you can even just say, "My friend was telling me..." We're all friends here, right?

Sorry man, I only played with you the one night, I'll be sure to make myself know next time

We didn't mix up in any pots but hope you did well with the games, cash games were pretty juicy overall

That's the good guess that nobody makes for some reason, but it's not correct.

Nope, but it's nothing suicide-related.

Cheating with some other man's woman. It's the only other logical choice (money, sex, or power).

You guys got it. Both times it was over a woman, not poker related.

So you were the guy on my right in the Red Sox hoodie who said hi when I table changed? Nice playing with you, too... I actually left shortly after table changing. Richard Seymour took off, and I ended my session. I didn't run much better all week at the Borgata, but that's how it goes. At least I was able to get hours in during the storm and show a profit despite running horrible.

For no reason I just tend to run bad against people shoving blind . Variance sucks, sometimes.

Video Analysis

I've decided to start making some videos for this thread and I'll probably cross-post them on my website and in my coaching thread. I'm going to take one hand per week (roughly) and do a video analyzing it... But instead of my own hands, I'm going to take submissions from people who post in the thread. I might occasionally use my hands, but I think analyzing some of yours does a few things... It lets me give back to the thread a little bit, it lets me avoid giving out too many of my own hand histories, and it gives a small sample of my analysis of other's hands for coaching which I can cross-post in that coaching thread as well.

So if you have a tough hand you want some insight on, you can post in here or PM it to me and I'll pick one for each video to break down. The plan is one video a week and I'll start them in February, so hopefully it's something you're all interested in.
