Hey guys!

Long time lurker zero time poster here. I decided to step up and start posting on 2+2 finally. In order to help that I made this thread for my goal of the year which is to make +60k in profit. Im going to update random stuff here about how my challenge is progressing. I have some other goals for the year as well.

Goals:
-60k profit
-Supernova
-play WSOP plo8 (If not then some EPT plo8)
-Top5 in SC plo8/nlo8 18mans any stakes
-1st in SC in some category
-Win/Chop 530
-Start posting in 2+2 bit more regularly

I've been playing poker since 2007 and last two years exclusively o8 a bit more seriously. I found hold em easy and boring (and I didn't win). This weird game seemed more interesting and I decided to work on it more. Now I'm here playing only this niche game where is not much action available. Last year I made some money from this game and was ranked close to top on SC leaderboards. I think I can't be nr1 this year in any stakes o8 18mans so lets go for top5. I'll make 1st on some other category

I'll be playing all stakes from 3.3 up to 215 regularly. Also sometimes 530s. I think I have an edge there but the variance is just too huge. I have won/chopped all stars weekly tournaments already in plo8/nlo8 except 530, so thats also a good goal for this year. Currently having fun full time and playing poker on the side. Or the other way round.

Lets do this

Thanks man!

So far I have been a bit sick lately but still putting in 6-12 hours a day. Not playing my best but making some money. I had first week of the year off and now im trying to get in all the hours possible. I'm up around 3,5k this year so all looking good but I find it hard to get enough VPPs for supernova as there isn't enough action.

Trying to feel better asap and start crushing again. I will post some random hands later on. Yesterday won a 22 plo8 and got few other good finishes. Today just losing money for a change. I personally don't like looking at the cashier because it affects my play too much so I basically check it only few times a month.

Thanks mate and GL to you too! Yeah maybe that would be appropriate so O8 regs/fanboys/haters can judge/laugh/admire me

Checked before session from sharkscope that I'm 4k up this year but today was big losing day. 0 cashes from MTTs and SNGs didn't go well either. Gotta give money back sometimes to win more in the future. Tomorrow is a new day and weekend starting with all the great donkaments. I hope I can end the month with over 5k in profit (preferably 10k lol). Made some VPPs to catch my pace for the month which is 7,5k VPPs. Starting it easily after a month vacation.

Sunday and 11 days of grind behind. My internet is not working and I gave my back up connection to my roommate as I wanted a day off. Going out with my former roommates to celebrate one of the bosses birthday. Feels great to have a day off after grinding for so many days straight. Probably jumping back to the grind monday or tuesday, depending on how much I drink lol.

I've been butchering all MTTs for the last 4 days but running like god in SNGs helps. Year is currently around the same 4k up than it was few days ago. I will go rest of the month without looking at the cashier/sharkscope unless I bink something nice. On fridays session I actually took some hands to post. After reviewing them later they weren't that interesting.. But here they are.

1. I marked this one because it was the biggest spew of the day. I suck, but the opponent is even worse.

Still got some time to spend before going out so Im going to write some background about my poker stuff. In 2012 I started going for BBA studying finance and economics but still wanted to do something cool while being kind of young. I have always loved poker and played it since 2006 or so. So when I started to win enough I figured out I could take a year break from school and move away from my home country. I thought about it for six months but eventually found my balls in july 2013 and pulled the trigger. Sent papers to school and informed my friends and family that I'm moving out to pursue some dreams. And win all the money. Some where happy for me but others were sad that I'm leaving. Mostly women.

So that's now about half a year ago. Instead of winning all the money I partied a bit too hard but I guess that's fine. After that I worked too much. It was a cycle and I guess it still is. At the moment I'm on the working cycle playing everyday as much as possible. I'm still trying to find a balance between playing and doing other stuff. But honestly this place where I currently live doesn't offer much besides playing and partying. I took a month off December-January and went back to Finland for few weeks to see friends and to Caribbeans for few weeks vacation as well. I was burn out like hell. But now Im loaded with energy again and hopefully find the balance.

I think I will play only till september professionally. I can't quite make as much as I want to justify playing full time and in my opinion there's no longevity in poker for a dude like me. I'm just not good enough. But it was always my dream to do this and I enjoy it. On september I will go back to school and play semi-professionally. So living will be dependable on poker for a long time for me anyways. I hate 9-5 job with a fixed salary where you're not pushed to give your best because your salary is not dependable on how good you do your job. So it's basically just looking for what is the miniumum to do to keep the job. Poker is great because you win what you deserve. …If you play long enough time.

Most likely if I go back to school this year I'll keep the focus on the grind and school on the side. Because there's more money to be made from pokkkers than there will be from my job when I graduate. And a job is not guaranteed while this thing is haha. For this year I set my goal to 60k because I wanted something that is doable and I can achieve with high probability. Ultimate goal is to buy a studio/1-bedroom apartment from Helsinki/Espoo in Finland but that's not achievable for me with 1 year grind. Needs some more time because apartments are ******ed expensive there.

Ok now Im running out of time. Challenge CLIFFS:

-Profit for the month still 4k
      -VPPs 4,7k
      -It all looks good
-Hero is not good at poker
-But 99.81% of the O8 field is worse

Aannnndddd it's gone. January, I mean. Achieved all my goals except not drinking too much. Got on piss twice and the other time way too hammered, like I always do. Degens will degen. I try to update more regularly this month, it's going to be a hard grind again. So what we had on january:

-Over 5k profit (more than I set as goal)
      -8,7k VPPs (again more)
      -1,504 games
      -Over 20k in buy ins
      -188 hours
-chopped weekly 55 and daily 109 (last time was in june lol)
      -Sobriety is not for me
      -Eric Clapton is God

It all looked horrible when I was downswinning after the first week but then I got the miracle on last day of the month and turned the ship by chopping 22 plo8, 26 nlo8 re-entry and 109 plo8 in the same session. Nice to have some of that heat. Okay so it's time to look what february is going to be. I will continue sick grinding because it's winter and I will have some people visiting me during march-may which means less grind then. And obv WSOP or EPT Monaco on May/June. Let's see how it goes. Goals for february:

      -200 Hours
      -$24,000 in buy ins
-6k profit (Don't like profit goals but 25% overall ROI seems ok, lets see)
      -10k VPPs
      -Don't blackout
-Do non-poker related stuff on days off
      -Update more

Not easy but life aint easy. Already started February grind today (or yesterday dunno it's like 7am the 2nd? im about to pass out) with a nice 13 hour session.. 560 VPPs and +1k in buy ins is nice. Dunno about money and don't care, it will be in my bank account sooner or later ready to be consumed in unnecessary things anyways, let's get back to that part in the end of the month

Now some sleep before next session. GL all and remember to enjoy life and love others

Hello and thanks, Jesus! Lifetime graph.. I've had few computers and few tracking softwares for my games and obv all data disappeared when my laptops hard drive went broke Even my present database is only from July. I suck with computers But I guarantee you its not cool, it's just 1M cash hands break-even and then some winning. Actually while writing this I found my bad beat post with cool graph. Here it is

      Spoiler:

Solid -3bb/100 loser but runbad made me -10bb OMGLOL. I had like infinite bankroll back then to my levels and this didn't kill me or anything but it sure did something good. I took my head out of ass and invested ****load in coaching and stopped degening in higher stakes + reg only tables. Month or two and I started winning +5bb/100.

Back to the grind stuff. Second day of february behind. Grinded a solid 14 hour session this time. Just finished my last mtt 11r plo8 in 3rd place. blah should've won but can't win always. Games were kinda bad in the night because of sunday, more regs than usually and for some weird reason there weren't much games going so I watched SuperBowl first time. Huge disappointment but definitely cool on the side of the grinds. I meant to write something deep or clever but nothing comes to my mind because I'm so tired. Maybe I'll find it next time!

Took a graph from my o8 MTTs/SNGs @ stars since last year. Not a lifetime graph, but something!

Yesterday I won like +$800. Today has been ok too, I chopped 5r 3ways for $585 and I think sngs went well. I currently have #1 score for bop venus high division. The week is just starting but anyways HOLD one time! Would mean $500 of free money. I still have few tables for the day.. 3.5 sngs and 11 rebuy which forces me to stay up early in the morning everyday. VPPs are at 1,6k after 3 days so going for 10k this month obviously. Still 3 days on the grind before the big day off. It feels like these 10-15 hour days are getting easier and easier

Hey Waltiph, thanks! I usually play at least 9 tables so I don't get bored. If there's not games running enough i just fill the screen with lower stakes that are running. I actually haven't played those 200 hour months, Im just currently trying to get there. But I was impressed myself how I could play almost 200 hours last month with one week off.

Ok. Now when I think yes I do get bored sometimes and start to punt in stacks and flip for fun. Not good but still better than not playing.

Bossfishbro thank you. I think you have received your part in sngs by winning 93.4% of flips vs me I wonder how I can still win so much from sngs.. Took the lead again in 18man O8 leaderboards at any stakes & 5-15 & count & avg profit per 500 games. Running like god and being one of the best is a great combination. Although I feel like others are seriously playing better than me last few days.

Today/yesterday was a sick day. I just clicked buttons but turned everything into gold what I clicked. Ended up winning 33nlo8 and 11r plo8. Also chopped 27 omania. I think I made money from sngs too, at least I won the only $60 that run haha. +1,5k for sure. Now some sleep, Im about to pass out. Played 14 hours or so. GG.

Took a check where I'm at for the month. It showed that profit is already at $4,100 or so. VPPs are at 2,800. So everything looking good and im now going to have a few days off to enjoy the hard work.

I heard graphs are cool so here's mine for the year:

      Thanks guys!

Yeah SNGs are included. And blakkman solid read, no wonder you crush so hard

Took those few days off, mostly drinking and sleeping during them lol. I'm getting old since I need 2-4 days to recover. Still not fully recovered from fri-sat but pushed myself to play 10 hours today. Obviously got owned everywhere. Didn't cash a single MTT. Beside a $60 9man didn't cash anything over $15 etc etc. Nice reward after playing when feeling like ****. Wanted to quit every second first two hours but didn't give up. Obviously didn't play my best game but not playing when you aren't capable of playing your A-game is rubbish in my opinion. Just play until you can't beat the field anymore. Never give up.

VPPs at 3,620 for the month with two days off. I'm in a good pace of getting +10k VPPs. Profit is probably at 3,500 or something. So profit goal of +6,000 seems possible if I just don't get doomswitched for the rest of the month. If I do, I probably just grind it up anyways. Honestly I hope to make +10k this month after such a good start. At the moment I'm planning to play at least the rest of the week 10-14 hour days. Probably will play 7-12 days straight now to make some more money. I'm thinking about not updating after every day because it would probably get boring with my text only updates

ooooopppsss i have forgotten to update.

I went to play live this weekend in a local casino. There was a no limit hold em 550€ re-entry. Six hours to day two and I finish 50/329 with 45 paid KK vs AA. Live poker is a joke. Hold em is easy and stupid. Never again. End of story.

Nah it was fun to play other form of poker after playing only high low omaha for so long. I have played some nlhe/plo live in Malta but that has always been drunk and for fun. I played couple nlhe tournaments in Aruba around last christmas but that was also just for fun and I was fairly drunk all the time. This time I actually tried to play and drank just water and coffee and it was cool and I enjoyed it, except last hours were pretty tough. I thought some practice for EPT/WSOP is good too to have an idea how the long days feel. Or something. I think I'll do EPT plo8 championships anyways and then WSOP if I run good enough.

I'll update how did in february tomorrow and obv the march goals too. Here's a sneak peek for anyone who wants it

Well it didnt go as expected. Goals were realistic but I won too much early to the month and took it easier for the rest of the month and then I broke even for like 1k games. I'm lazy.

      Goals for March
      -Weekly update at least
      -200 hours
-One more try - 10k VPPs
      -$24,000 to buy ins
      -Sober two weeks

In march i already have 12 hours in and 1,7k in buy ins. Profit is around $800. No profit goal for this month because short term profit goals are stupid. My ROI can be anywhere around -10% - +50% after one month and I can't affect that as I can affect on hours played etc. Just be honest and evaluate the level of play and the level of opponents skill. Last month I mostly clicked buttons without thought and ran like god and won (almost) all the money. At least in SNGs. There were also more regs in the games so I'm obviously not happy with that and I try to care more this month because I want to succeed and be the best. Currently easy lead in all my leaderboards of 18mans. Two days ago I was even 2nd for profit in 18mans 7&15s all games for the year. Sick.

I booked flights back to my homeland in may because my lease is ending. Going to take a quick stop at Monaco and try to win some money there. I don't know if it was a good idea but it felt like a great idea at 5am. I need to go to sleep and evaluate tomorrow again the greatness of that

Ugh I couldn't sleep last night but played 10 hours today anyways. Made two final tables (obviously from the smallest donkaments I played, $11 plo8 and 13.5 plo8 KO) and both ended without decent money. Lost around $250, bad day and was tired all day. Now some rest and better luck tomorrow. I think I need a day off sometime soon, I've been grinding 11 or 12 days without a day off. I'll play the weekend and take probably next tuesday or wednesday off. Atm I feel like Im doing good and I have sick drive to grind and don't need days off but from past I know that i have to take those.

Rough week behind. Lost money there but turned it all around by winning ~all moneys in hilo field today. 2nd in 26plo8, chopped 55 plo8 with o8 superboss trelskig and won 11r. Also made some money in sngs, enough to piss off one of the regulars so hard that he had to make a thread on me. Solid.

I've been playing 16 or 17 days straight now without a day off and just finished +13 hour session without breaks. My brains feel fried and I think I'm going to boot the system today with a day off and some fine dining accompanied by unnecessary expensive (but super good) drinks. Also I have had a lot of fun nights out even I'm playing like every day. I found the balance that I've been looking for a long time! 1/3 of the month behind so good spot to see where I'm at for the month.

      -71 hours
      -$8,500 in buy ins
      -3,500 VPPs
-Soberness goal done with bunch of extra days!
      -1,4k profit

I feel ****in great about myself. Let's keep the good times rolling. Love and success to everyone

I really admire people who put in the serious amount of volume like you. I play 8-10 hours for a few days at a time, 4-5 tables per session, and then I am burnt out.

I can really relate to the soberness goal. Poker drives me to drink. I was doing pretty good with staying sober until I moved from the US to Mexico and started the online grind.

I hope you enjoyed your time off and expensive drinks. Sometimes it's worth it. I am visiting my sister in Vegas right now and I took her to a fancy Wynn restaurant after I busted a live PLO8 event last night and it the bill was a joke. But worth every penny IMO. There are more important things in life than poker and money.

      See you at tables.

Yeah I agree with the part that there is more important things in life. That's actually one of the things I've discovered while living abroad. I'm not as happy here as in my homeland. Poker really drives me too to drink lol. Had fun night out with friends. Dinner was awesome and drinks weren't even that expensive. Was definitely worth the day off + the obvious hang over day off haha, I drank till like 10am. Standard.

Games haven't gone well after that. Played today like all the mtts $11-$215 and ROI was around -96% or something as stupid haha. Was pretty bummed and had to skip the late night/early morning tourneys. Well, better results tomorrow! Five days to go and then I'm taking a week off. Have some friends visiting me so no pokkers. I think I set the goals for the month too high because of that but we'll see.. Going to push hard now for five days and then the last days of the month. Results compared to volume are so far weak sauce for the month. I hope I can make some $$$ before my week off so it would taste better
