Had a pretty busy weekend so didn't put much volume in or update the thread. I had my BR a little bit over $5K so I took shots at 200NL today. Up about 1.5bi over 1500 hands, ran well in that I won two flips but I also got coolered a few times so I guess it evens out. Need a lot more volume to see what my winrate will be like but I don't think the games are much tougher than 100NL.

Hand 8: I really hate it when they do this lol. On the flop and turn I just treat his bet as a check and bet my normal size. On the river I call getting 36:1 since I figure he's not folding.

Didn't post any updates the last few days cus I hit a really bad downswing at 200NL which took a sizable chunk of my roll, then I moved back down to 100NL and the run bad continued. Been trying to work on my game and stay focused. Anyway I need to regrind for a while at 100NL and hopefully have enough to move back to 200NL by the end of the month.

Haven't updated in a while. Been busy with a lot of things so didn't put as much volume in as I liked to. I'm a little behind pace for hands but I should have more free time in the next week or so to make up for it. Gonna see if I can get my roll back up to $5K so I can take another 5bi shot at 200NL, and hope not to run as bad.

Could have put in a little better volume the last few days but got kinda lazy. Still got 6 days left for about 18,000 hands shouldn't be hard if I put in an extra session here and there. Here's some interesting hands that I can remember.

Hand 12: Dunno what's he thinking with that call, I have basically no history with this guy, guess he's just a spewtard lol.

Down a little but still got a few days left for the month and hopefully some run good so I can go back to 200nl next month.

As suggested I will post graph instead for updates and just keep the monthly updates in text. I'll post the monthly/yearly graph when the month ends. They're running ring game happy hours this week so it might be better if I schedule my play during those times.

You're getting 4 1/2 - 1 on a call here. You don't think you have the best hand 18% of the time with the second nuts here?

I mean, yeah cold 3-bet is pretty insane, but since you lead and BB is a fish, if BTN knows BB is a fish also then...

couldn't BTN be thinking, 'ok another good reggish player leads out here, since we all checked turn, he doesn't have to have a flush to lead here, since BB is a fish he could easily be overvaluing a straight or two pair with his raise, so I should re-raise for value with my Q high flush here."

Unless BTN has uber nit stats, I really think 18% of the time, the above could be the situation and your K high flush is the best hand.

I mean your probably not going to listen to me here, since results oriented wise you turned out to be right, but that still doesn't mean that 18% of the time he couldn't have had the Q high flush, and BB be overvaluing a straight or two pair as fish are want to do.

I don't know man, folding the second nuts when one other player in the pot is a total fish (by your words,) and you only need to be good 18% of the time, I'm not convinced.
2012: Supernova, Zoom, Volume, and Profit Quote
07-26-2012 , 11:27 AM
Yeah I'm getting a pretty good price, but given I have the second nuts, he'd have to be 3bet jamming the 3rd nuts in order for me to call this, and that just seems a little over the top given the amount of strength I show with my raise and esp the large size I made it. I just really don't think he can be shoving a Q high flush here, at least I know I would never do it in this spot. Would be interested to hear other's thoughts though.

Oopps, yeah, I mixed up the river play in my response. For some reason I thought you were the one to lead at the river, and the fish was the one to put in the first raise.

If that was the case, I think you'd have to call, as BTNs 3-betting range should be wider when you lead, and the fish raises, then when the fish leads and you raise. I think in this situation he could be 3-bet shoving a Q high flush.

Since the fish lead, and you raised though, I do agree that BTN's 3-betting range is much tighter, and assuming he is a solid reg is probably only the first nuts.

So if BTN is a solid reg, I like your fold, that means my only remaining question is...

What are BTN's HUD stats?

Yeah if I was making the bet and fish raises and reg shoves I'd probably have to call K high flush here cus then I do believe he could have the Q high flush. I'd probably have to fold the Q high flush though because then he'd have to be shoving the J high flush, but it's close.

BTN is like 22/17 over a small sample, don't have any reads on him.

Yeah that's the main reason, I struggle a lot getting volume in. And also I find it hard to mass multi table, but I am very comfortable 4 tabling zoom, but I would need like 12+ tables or something to get in the same amount of hands/hour at regular tables. And I don't like to stack my tables so when I tile it I can only fit like 6 tables at most. And finally I think my game is better suited for zoom. I kind of spew off a lot when I play regular tables cus the action is so slow.

Well this month was quite disastrous. Went on a huge downswing after my last update, so I waited til the end of the month to post cus I couldn't even bear to look at my graph. I'll prolly be staying at 100nl for quite a while longer, and might have to move down if things don't turn around soon. Here's some random hands I picked out, some of em are just bad beats.

Hand 15: Don't think I can really fold here only quads and QQ beat me and he doesn't have too many 7's in his range and I've seen people shove a Q here.

BTN shows Q A (Straight, Ace High) (Pre 46%, Flop 3%, Turn 9%)
BTN wins $158.70

Hand 19: Here's an actual hand. Villain seems to be a weak TAG and a bit stationy post flop. On the river I bet for thin value since I expect him to call with all his J's here. When he shove the river his hand seems polarized towards flush or air cus he's not the kind of guy that would shove anything else. I call cus i have Q blocker so there's not as many flushes he can have.

July 26-31

Well, that doesn't look very pretty. Here's the monthly graph and my results:

The first big swing is from the shot taking fail at 200NL, second one happened at the end of the month when I can't seem to win a single hand.

Monthly (Yearly) Results

Hands: 70,516 (145,602)
VPPs: 19,390 (30,662)
FPPs: 48,475 (70,366)

Winnings: -$1,011.41
Stellar Rewards: +$150.00
FPPs: 48,475 * 0.016 = +$775.60
Profit: -$85.81

Bankroll: $2,679

It's not all bad though, now that the Stars deal with FTP is settled, hopefully they'll be able to give us money back soon, cus I still have ~$10K stuck there, could probably use some of that... I'll keep playing 100NL at the start of the month, and probably move down if my bankroll gets to $1,500 or less. Hoping that doesn't happen.

And reviewing my goals for the month:

July Goals

1. [/] 75,000 hands

Failed, by a little bit. I ended up with 70,516 hands, which is pretty close I guess. In the last few days I couldn't even get through a session without having to quit early to prevent myself from tilt spewing all my money, so I put in a lot less hands than I could have.

2. [✓] 15,000 VPPs

Success. It's actually not that hard if I can keep playing 100NL. I got 19,390 VPPs this month. So I'm still well on track to Supernova.

3. [✓] Start a PG&C thread.

Success. I already completed that at the beginning of the month.

4. [ ] Update PC&G thread at least once every few days.

Fail. I could have updated more, but I didn't because updating involves looking at my graph, and it's something I prefer not to look at when I'm on a big downswing cus it just makes me tilt.

5. [/] Watch more training videos and take notes.

Fail. I watched some vids from DC and Leggo but not too many, I just wasn't very motivated here, and I find it really hard to pay attention to vids.

6. [ ] Participate more often in discussing hands on the forum.

Fail. Although I don't think it's too bad. I do read threads on the forum a lot, but I don't post very much unless there's something that everyone seems to agree with that I don't.

7. [✓] Expand my list of poker contacts.

Success. I got to discuss a lot of poker with people playing around the same stakes, and also got in a Skype group with a cool bunch of people and that has helped me a bit.

August Goals

1. [ ] 65,000 hands

2. [ ] 15,000 VPPs

3. [ ] Stay at 100NL or higher by the end of the month.

I'll be a little busier in August due to exams coming up, so I'll have to study hard for those cus I've been slacking off, hence the lower volume goal of hands. For VPPs I keep at 15,000 which shouldn't be hard if I'm staying at 100NL. And for the 3rd goal I'm hoping my downswing doesn't hurt enough that I have to move down in stakes, but if it does I still hope to be playing 100NL+ by the end of the month.
