Hello everyone! I've been lurking on this forum for around two years before finally setting up an account. I've been playing live poker for roughly 10 years, primarily 100-200 cash games NLHE, PLO or ROE along with MTT NLHE. My best game would be MTT NLHE, followed by 100PLO. I have played on and off online throughout my carrier, never really taken it seriously. Therefore, I've decided to start some sort of bankroll challenge from a 200 EUR deposit @ partypoker (Chose partypoker based on research, open to suggestions to other sites tho). I have sound fundamentals and would say I crush live MTT's buy in ranges 50-500EUR in all formats.

My online skills are totally different, and I want to improve. I have deposited 200EUR and started to play MTT's NLHE and PLO from $1.10-3.30 on pp. I do not have any other poker software enabled other than pp when I play (Open for good softwares for $ or free). I haven't set an end goal yet as I want to know what is realistic within a years time of 30hours/week grinding and if my BR is sufficient for these stakes. I can deposit and I want feedback on sound strategies to go about this. So far I've played about 2300hands of NLHE in 3 days and 538 PLO hands MTTs only. Below are some stats if they make sense at all. If interested, let me know what other data would be relevant. My BR is +7 EUR after 2 days play.

Update: Logged about 7k hands. I had to change my approach to this because I can't find enough volume on stakes described in previous post. Play wise I feel like I'm overall doing well. Playing mainly between $1-5 while taken for example an $11 shot in gladiator tournament which ended el busto. Did pick up a huge win in a $2.2 6-max bounty hunter $750 GTD 1/316 picking up a $122 score essentially bringing my BR around breakeven. Another notable win is a $33 KO-series ticket and a big stack going into KO-Series Main Event Final Phase Sat. Overall, slightly down but do have a chance on some bigger wins down the road. Not concerned with being down a bit due to feeling like I play well and starting to learn the field more and more. Might move over to PS to find more volume in lower stakes and stop taking these bigger swings. Below are some stats from the following days.

Here's an update. I've been on quite the journey and played a **** ton of poker lately. I realize this thread is from September, but due to my work duties I've only been home for 2 weeks since then but I have put in good volume in those two weeks. Let me start by saying I deviated a little bit from the strategy as I did actually deposit up to 400 EUR and then withdrew 100EUR.

During this timespan I played 31,6k hands which I am proud of, shows that I can truly grind. Resultswise however I'm very disappointed as I think my strategy failed. I played 521 tourneys with ABI of 18.31 USD. My avg ROI is 20.7% but I have avg profit of 0.67 USD and now I am el busto after being up about 3000EUR. If I read these numbers right I should be a winning player but got wiped out either due to variance or the fact that I took an aggro BR approach to take shots. Can anyone who actually knows what they're talking about confirm this?

On the other hand I'm not giving up, busting my roll is no biggie I can access funds in other ways and start all over but before I do so I need to have an idiot proof plan. If anyone wants to coach for profit, mentor, or even stake if they think I can do higher please do stay in touch with me. I will continue to post here more regularly as I do not have to work until over NYE and hopefully I have a new roll very shortly so I can get back to the grind. My original goal this week was actually to rake 1200 points, making it to 500 points wednesday morning which tells me with a bankroll this would be very easy to complete.

I will keep you posted once I start playing again as I'm sure nobody gives AF how much I study ETC.

Decided to do some work in Excel today with the data that I have available from Sharkscope and Partypoker.

First of all some important assumptions that may not hold true are made in this table and they are decisions/estimates based on historical data.

Assumption 1: I will maintain my ROI of 20.4% from Sharkscope throughout the 16 week time period shown.
Assumption 2: I will either deposit 1100USD or 2200USD.
Assumption 3: I will maintain my recorded volume of play rounded to 525 games every two weeks.
Assumption 4: This is the most uncertain assumption due to not being able to forecast poker profits with only two weeks of play. Therefore, the assumption is made that I will break even every week despite losing -360USD in the first two weeks. This provides a model where rakeback is the only profit adding to the bankroll.

Table I - This is a model where I increase our average buy in to 33USD instead of 18USD and also deposit 2200USD. The result is a bankroll of 4019USD by the end of week 16.
Table II - This is a model where I decrease our average buy in to 11USD rather than 18 USD with a deposit of 2200USD. The result is a bankroll of 2806USD.
Table III - This is a model where I increase our average buy in to 33USD with deposit being 1100USD. The result is a bankroll of 2919USD.
Table IV - This is a model where I decrease our average buy in to 11USD with deposit remaining 1100USD. Bankroll is now 1605USD.
Table V - This is a model where I maintain my average buy in of 18.28USD with deposit again at 1100USD. The end bankroll is 1940USD.

If anyone wants access to the excel file I am more than happy to share it with anyone as I had fun making it. Let me know if anyone would find their own numbers to be realistic based on their own data. Of course there are some big assumptions made but the good thing about this table is that as weeks progresses you can just insert historical data to provide a more accurate image. Once more data is collected, you can estimate profits based on historical results. I personally don't think 525 games is enough to draw a conclusion, therefore assuming I will break even every week sounded more reasonable than losing money every week.

Members that have experience with these type of computations;
I'm pretty confident my work is solid and that all my formulas are correct. However I would appreciate it if someone with finance knowledge can review it and see if the math checks out.

Is this interesting to anyone? Despite having zero feedbacks by members besides one DM, I am maintaining this as a fun log for myself and a place on the internet to keep myself accountable.

Another interesting thing I realized I could do with this model is multiply my count by average buy in and then multiply that by my avg ROI, giving me a profit of 2077.75 USD. Does this mean I ran bad losing my original investment? Phrased differently, does this mean with no variance involved in poker my bankroll should now be 2077.75?

Been playing zero poker but studying a lot. I have started reading Mathematics of Poker, although some of this stuff is really intuitive to me due to my education, +EV is the name of the game of a finance degree. However I have been studying a lot and besides buying Theory of poker and Mathematics of poker I have watched a lot of videos and two of them specifically almost blew my mind.

What a coach Bencb is. His stuff makes so much sense when he explains it and he's obviously a crusher. A lot of lessons taken from these two videos. On a sidenote, does anyone have good free videos like these either on youtube or other channels?

Other than that I watched the Triton Poker SHR Montenegro 2019 Cash game which is absurd, poker at such a high level. I realize I cannot implement a lot of moves made at these stakes (especially not whatever the f Tony G is doing).

Right now I am just watching streams and sporadically reading books in between getting tired of videos. Mentally I am so pumped about poker, I want to give it all this time and using my finance degree applied to the game more have been very rewarding personally and I realize I have to utilize that advantage a lot more and look at each tournament as different financial securities with different variances and rewards. I've never been on such a downswing and still feeling so positive about the game and ready to come back and kick ass. I realized I'm not 100% bust as I do get 115USD in RB along with qualifying for day two of the Phased 109 Day 2 100k. Just maybe I get a score there and I dont have to deposit on Monday? Who knows, either way on Monday we are depositing more money and we're gonna play a lot more volume than this. I realized what mistakes I made back upon reflecting and there are some major ones that I need to fix. First of all staying at ABI which leaves us with at 50 BI is ridiculous no matter what skill level. This time around, it will be much closer to 100 buyins/tourney and I started mapping out in Excel what that might look like and different approaches to that.

Here is another table which shows an example of different risk profiles you could choose if you want your ABI on PP to be between 8-20 USD. These are all just different percentages of your total count that you would allocate to different ranges of buy in if you prefer a low risk, medium risk, or high risk. I believe having a spread at different stakes will be my approach this time and performed very strictly so I stay withing my 100 BI option. After consideration and Excel analysis my approach will most likely be this:

I will invest 1500USD into my PP account, and then I will spend another 700USD on the Tournament Masterclass by Raise Your Edge and proceed as noted in the medium risk profile:

10% of buy ins will be at 2.5 USD, 10% @ 5.5 USD, 40% @ 11 USD, 20% @ 22 USD and 20% @ 33 USD.

The funny part about this is that it is a way more conservative bankroll approach than I applied before because I will have 1100 not 360, and my ABI will drop from 18.24 to 16.18 USD which should would give me a bankroll of 92.7 BI with 1500 deposited. This is a super conservative approach compared to the 360/18.24 (20 BI) approach previously which is not necessarily true. That was what my deposit is divided by my ABI, but my shots usually came during upswings where I was up 3000 EUR, however I admit I didn't perform enough discipline and move down stakes when I went on a swing. That wont happen again and I'm ready to go to war again. Sad I can't get that much volume on Sunday due to BR, but so pumped for next week and ready to come out swinging. Be ready for some big updates.
