I should change to title to 21 year old making a run for it now, turned 21 on sunday

Bad day in terms of results yesterday but I think I played well. Just like one of my viewers in chat said, "Run good starts with one good decision at a time". Down another 1.4k.

After all this, we are back on square 1. Officially breakeven throughout the 90k hands I have played. I think I'm going to try to go back and play the game that brought me up these stakes. Feel like I have been making one too many adjustments during my stay at Ignition.

Haven't been updating because, really, it's just been run bad break even for me. I'll update with an end of month graph when the month ends. I just wanted to make this post because it's just been getting harder and harder to believe that I'm just this unlucky. Either I was on some sort of a 5bb/100 "heater" for the first 50k hands or somewhere in the middle of the April challenge, some adjustment I made screwed me over big time. As of now, I have played 24 days and netted -1BI more or less.

Since this is bothering me a lot, I'm going to be ending the month short in terms of streaming. There's a couple aspects of my game that I really want to work on now that I have a database and look to iron out all the wrinkles. Sorry for the abrupt notice; I kind of wish I mentioned something like this last stream but it was a thought that I came up with after the stream has ended and I started to do my cool-down study session.

I'll still be ending strong in terms of volume in these last couple days left in April as I do still want to succeed in my goal of being profitable in April, no matter how small of a profit it may be.

This graph dates the beginning of April to the 25th of April: https://i.gyazo.com/a48484261db77509...b23243bd71.png

I do have about 5-10k hands that aren't released yet but its just the -1.4k session I had on the 26th and the -200 session I had on the 27th, resulting in somewhere around -200 overall. Also a couple hands missing here and there but not much we can do about that.

I want to take everyone for supporting the stream, it's been such a blast and you guys all have really helped me throughout this downswing. I saw streaming as a way to more record my progress in this challenge for entertainment of others but it slowly became more of a place where I found super cool people to talk with and share a couple laughs.

I don't have a set date on when I want to begin streaming again as it will just be whenever I feel like I'm set on my feet again. Should be back for the first Friday of May. I think this last stretch of 50-60k hands really created some dents in my overall play that I'm not too happy about (ie. over-adjusting, avoiding certain situations, and making fragile assumptions about anything in general). I will give a heads-up though, through this thread and my discord. Taking this time off of streaming massive hours will also give me time to work on improving the quality of the stream, too. Just small things like adding emotes and looking to hopefully get partnered soon so we're not just stuck with 1 emote. I also want to make the discord channel more elaborate so hopefully it'll be useful within the community.

I think that's all that I wanted to say. If you guys have any questions or just want to talk, you can PM me on discord: UpDog#3359 or you can just join my channel and find me there (https://discordapp.com/invite/YfDhPJC).

Thanks again for all the support See you in May!

btw i know you wanna hit that profit goal, but don't be afraid of taking a couple days off. in the past even when i've thought i was mentally fine, taking a few days off improved my play by like tenfold tbh. accumulated fatigue is real even if you feel OK. anyway glgl

Yeah but you only get half price if you were brokenstars' former student and also if you're not one of the coaches hehe

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. I've been planning to come back streaming this Monday but unfortunately something came up in my personal life that I need to attend to. I was really excited due to the amount of support and interactions with people that I got through the month of April. However, it feels impossible to be streaming during this time. I will still be playing a couple hands every other day though. Currently, I can see myself coming back during the start of the 4th week of May (around the 20th or 21st). Again I apologize to everyone that has subscribed and supported me by either following, watching, donating, etc. I'll try to find some way to make it up to you guys.

As for April results, here they are: https://i.gyazo.com/67f6d9de30853bc3...1694f92001.png

I really wanted to believe that the stream wasn't affecting my play but having played these couple days off-stream, it made me realize that I just wasn't playing my game. I would just in general play too conservatively. To give one example, when a spot comes up where I can either just triple off or give up, I'd choose the latter more often than tripling. Having said that, it instantly felt like a breath of fresh air during the first session off-stream where I started to make plays I would steer away from unconsciously on stream. Now knowing this, I think I'll be able to come back with a high quality of play on stream (hopefully).

Results for May so far:
https://i.gyazo.com/c56d8ab8b4117cac...120983d93a.png

Missing about 3-4k hands from yesterday (Friday) when I got my soul owned by whales. Down 1.1k. Will make sure to download and update when those hands get released.

Not a lot of volume so far because I'm mainly focusing on database analysis and improving my game. Definitely going to be fixing that though once everything in my personal life is settled. I'm still keeping the year long goals that I set in the back of my mind.

As for my stream schedule moving on, it will probably look something like 5-7 days a week starting at around 4PM PST. Ideally I'd like to end somewhere around 8PM-10PM PST but I can sometimes see myself going longer because I'm either stuck a bunch or I just feel great and the pool feels nice and warm.

An extra short-term goal that I want to set is to be winning at 5bb/100 over the next 100k hands. Ideally I'd want this goal to finish under a month and a half. Let's pick the end of June to have played 100k more hands on 200nl (both zone and regular tables included). Also to get partnered with twitch within the month of June would be sick. I'm one requirement away and that is to have 75 average viewers for 30 streams in a row (or 30 days, I don't remember).

Anyways, I think that's all that I wanted to share with you guys. Til next time

Anyways, here's a monthly update:
https://i.gyazo.com/b5164037947069ca...e670ef6b91.png

Still running pretty trash in terms of setups and below around 5 BI under EV. However we got a better result than we did April in a shorter amount of time so I can't complain lol. You can see the dip in the graph where I started to put in more volume on stream. However, I think I got the gist of it and as a result of running pretty well the last couple sessions, we ended positive for this month. I've been putting in a lot of volume mainly on global and have been running well there. I don't know if I'd be comfortable releasing global results but this month has been a top 5 month in terms of $$$ on global. I don't know if it's all the studying Ignition forced me to do or me just running hot I feel like the games definitely got easier after focusing on winning at Ignition April.

I'm not sure how I want to continue with streaming as I do want to stream a lot more often and for a lot longer but my game does deteriorate as much as I'd hate to admit it. I guess I just gotta git gudder on Ignition if I want to stream more.

Speaking of streaming, the lease for my current place ends at the end of June and the lease for the new place starts either the start of September or October. Which means that my PC/streaming set up will most likely be in boxes unless I want to move all 3 monitors with mounts and my desktop back home in LA for 2 months, only to bring it all back and that's relatively difficult since I don't have a car. Maybe I'll get a car during the summer. I've put getting a car off for so long as I'm pretty paranoid about contracts. I don't like the thought of totaling a car and having to be stuck with that car loan for the next 3-4 years at such a young age. Read lots of stories like that online, don't know if my paranoia is justified/rational. I also don't know if I want to get a used car that I'm probably going to have to end up selling or face the fears of said car breaking down; but that topic is for another time. Anyways, I might just end up streaming on my laptop and buying a monitor to be able to manage the stream in my home in LA. However, the stream might be on an inconsistent basis which makes me sad. Really wanted to get that twitch partner. I'll try to have summer plans in regards to streaming before I gotta move out of this place.

Anyways, I'll hopefully be sober enough to give updates on the Vegas trip this weekend via this thread. I'll probably be writing my 'about me' that I've been putting off for so long on the train to LA and the flight to and from Vegas with a good amount of memorable studies and my experiences climbing up each stake.

Thanks for all the support for the stream! and thanks for reading!

Long story short... I'm going to become a live reg now and streams are going to be converted into youtube vlogs. Rebranding to UpNeeme and already sorted a rakeback deal at the Bellagio.

lol jk

Real long story short: Up +1.1k from poker, could have been more had I stayed away from drinks and poker tables but still a great weekend.

Friday: So, the airport is an interesting place. Had the opportunity to fly for the first time (that I could remember) and I didn't like it lol. I'm not a fan of roller coasters and man did it feel like one. Or maybe it was cause I chose a cheap airline to fly with. Either way, I slept at midnight and woke up at 2AM for nothing because I was sitting at the airport at 3AM waiting for my flight to depart. (This becomes relevant later) So much for the email telling me that I should be there 2-3 hours early because of expected delays at LAX... Anyways I land and get to where I'm staying for the weekend (Planet Hollywood) and fire up a game for an hour til I wait for my friends to get here. $1/$2 game, bought in for $300 and left +$150 richer. No hands that I remember, just a bunch of calling stations and one "reg" that would always bet big when checked to. Wanted to push around the new Asian kid in town I guess lol.
Chip porn #1:

Onto the next session at the Bellagio once my friends came in. Made about a buy-in at their $1/$3 game. Just basically checked KK OOP in a SRP on a 7 high board multiway. Checked through blank T turn where someone bet pot and I shoved and he called with probably a pair, he didn't show. This game was also an hour as we were hungry and were just waiting for restaurants to open. +$400 and some change this session. So far my hourly is amazing hehe.
Chip porn #2:
Bonus pic:

So we ate at Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips, and I unfortunately didn't get the fish and chips. I got the lobster and shrimp with truffle parmesan chips and I wish I had gotten the fish instead because the size of my lobster was looked like it was portioned by someone that has never been to the US. Best fries I probably ever had though!

Going to go check into our room and got distracted by the casinos we went through. Played a lot of blackjack and roulette and lost a couple, yada yada..

Then we ate at the Bacchanal and holy ****... Best food I've ever had. Never tried lamb but man do they make some good ass lamb. Definitely going to be coming back next time. Or every single time...

Session #3: late at night at the Venetian
Ended the day here playing til 3AM cause I was card-dead and stuck. Was about a 6 hour session. My first $2/$5 game here at Vegas and my VPIP was probably 5%. Every marginal hand I opened faced a 3-bet or just didn't hit a flop 15-way. The only good hands I got were KK, twice. One I lost the minimum as a reg opens $20 and we 3-bet with KK to $75 from the SB. 9 high flop and I bet 33%ish flop and x/c a double on a runout like 6 turn and 3 river, no flushes possible (98263r was the board I think). He shows flopped set of 8's. We were 1.2k deep so was pretty glad he didn't overbet the river vs my capped range. Lost around $500 there. The second time I had KK, was just a 3-way all in on the flop with a maniac that jammed over my c-bet with 88 on J92 and a recreational player that called the maniac's jam ($400 eff with him) and then called my re-jam ($1.1k eff with him, he covered me slightly). Unfortunately, he binks his flush on the river and we need to buy in again... First bust of Vegas and certainly not the last lol. As you can see, I was very excited to play this session: Due to my lack of sleep throughout the weekend and before I got on my flight, me trying to stay awake is going to be the biggest challenge. Down -$1.1k and -$550 for the weekend.

That was Friday. And Saturday was more degeneracy but this time at the craps table. I do have to say that was my favorite table game to play though. Spent the day sight-seeing and drinking my day away and slept at midnight only to wake up at 4AM to squeeze in one last session before my flight leaves at 1PM. Quick side-note: Go to Nacho Daddy and get their Surf-N-Turf Combo. It's just 2 tacos and a side of rice and beans for $20 but it's not just any two tacos; it was a filet mignon taco and a battered lobster tail taco. Size was decently large and my god were these the best tacos I have ever eaten in my life. Both tacos just melted in my mouth and they were made with mango salsa and your typical cabbage and tartar sauce combo, respectively. Absolutely perfect. I wouldn't eat this everyday because $20 is a high price to pay for 2 tacos but man it's worth it for the experience that's for sure. I was disappointed at Vegas lobster because of Ramsay's restaurant but this one, more than enough, made up for it. Good portions, amazing taste. Was extra exciting as that time as that would have been my 3rd time having lobster, the first being when I was in a restaurant for a special occasion in middle school. I always missed lobster after that and was glad to fulfill that craving at that Mexican restaurant. Will definitely be adding this to the list of things that I need to get every time I'm in Vegas. Additionally, if anyone has any food recommendations on the strip, feel free to share. I'm definitely going to be returning and trying out more foods!

Session #4: early mornings at the Bellagio
Pretty good session $2/$5, game was alright. Met a guy that vlogs, but don't really watch besides Owne and Neeme. Up around $300 one table because I 3b AA and x on some flop and he barreled twice because he hit a pair of 6s with A6s on the turn and put me on AK. I thought these stereotypes of Vegas regs putting people on 1 hand was exaggerated but I got to experience that first hand lol. Table broke and I ran well in the draw, had the first pick and luckily I picked very well. 1 whale that was running hot with any two cards (about 5k in front of him) and a bad reg that was tanking for an actual 5 minutes every decision against me. Hand against the whale was pretty boring. Just went for value once with AQ after he 3-bet me and J high flop went x/x. Turn I hit a Q and he just called a double barrel. The interesting hand was with the tanking reg. Hand that made him it think it was okay to tank for 20 minutes every hand afterwards went like, I open UTG+1 or something (lol fr positions) with A8dd $15 and he 3-bet from maybe the CO to $40 and I call since he made it so small and we're about $1400 deep. Flop comes T96hh with a backdoor flush draw for me. He bet $80 on the flop which I thought was really weird. There was a couple hand before this where I think I had a value hand and he tank folded the river which makes me think he was just trying to attack me in pots and 'outplay' me. He reallyyyyyyy hated being wrong. Can't catch every bluff in poker. Anyways, because of this and us being deep, that made me lean towards a x/r and I made it $200. He tank for an actual 5 minutes and makes the call. Kd came giving us more equity with the flush draw and I barreled about $350, leaving about a $900 shove on $1200 pot river (I recall at the time of doing the math. I'm too lazy to do the math now). Tanks literally for 10 minutes, I really didn't want to be rude and call the floor and as I nearly got fed up, he finally folded. Pretty happy with the result as I was probably going to have to shove river given his tanking... Maybe would have been the biggest trap in poker history lol. After this hand, every hand just played itself and we're able to catch hands vs random calling stations. Ended the session up +$1612 and obligatory chip porn:
That picture shows 2.4k but I lost a hundred or two in pots by just x/folding.
At the cage:

Went to Ramsay's fish and chips restaurant after I ended the session at 10AM only to find out they open at 11. That was a bummer and wasted 30 minutes walking from the Bellagio and back to Planet Hollywood and that about ends the trip report. Was pretty hungry and even sadder as I found out I won't be able to fit one more Vegas meal in but ended the weekend up 1k while being able to have fun and eat amazing food with friends so I can't complain. I hope this wasn't too boring to read.

Overall trip thoughts: Definitely returning again but not as often as I thought I'd want to. Might be just a twice or three times a year thing during times when the poker tables have the most traffic. But I plan these trips to be a lot longer than 48 hours. If I do go next time, I'm going to look to stay a week at least so I can get a proper grind in. I think this weekend was good in that I got to not be miserable on the poker tables and did a lot of sightseeing. Great 1st Vegas experience. Having said that, with most of the sight-seeing done, next Vegas trip will be poker oriented and might add a tourney or two in cause why not. Would be pretty cool to bink a live tourney since there's more fame and action compared to an online tourney lol. Thanks for reading guys and expect a stream in about 12 hours from this post. Back on the grind and hoping for another positive month in June. I did play some global poker today and man I feel so spoiled after live poker. I didn't have to deal with people 3-betting so much in live (or at all) and having to play more than 2 hands a minute made my head hurt lol. Live poker was so slow but I tried to inject logic to get rid of some card-dead tilt issues I had. Worked well and was patient, didn't deviate to opening super loose because "bored" and "it was sooted" and the conclusion I came up with really helped for any future live poker play that I'll do.

Any questions, you can ask me on stream (twitch.tv/updogpoker) in 12 hours (3PM PST) or PM me on discord, links in twitch description. That'll be it

For those of you that joined me in the stream yesterday, we all know that I was up 1.2k at one point and ran KK into AA three times in a row. Ended the session around -300 but I felt obligated to make this mini update because I decided to squeeze in a short session before Iggy decided to crash for whatever reason.
Here's the session:

Here's yesterday in total:

Plans came up for the weekend so I unfortunately will not be able to stream after tomorrow. So I'll be starting the stream up at around 2-3PM PST June 6th and this will be the last stream for the week. Will be back hopefully on Monday next week. Additionally, I think I want to incorporate 2 regular tables again so try and increase my volume because it doesn't feel all that great to play 4 hours for 1500ish hands. Maybe it's not worth it, maybe it is. But only one way to find out. I don't know how realistic it is to hit the volume goal I set for myself a little while before but I'm either going to have to give myself another week or two or just scrap it.

Thinking about it more, I still want to be able to reach the goals that I have set for myself in the very first post in this thread but I'll also give myself some leeway by setting lower goals. I think I'd be very content with myself if I'm able to beat the games for 5+evbb/100 after having played at least 500k hands in 2018.

Hope you guys continue to follow my journey on Ignition! GL at the tables everyone!

Going to be streaming actively for the month of October at least!
In the club that I play in, there's a promotion going on where you get basically get a "raffle ticket" for every X amount of hands you play with lots of prizes at the end of the month so I thought it'd be good to be able to put in volume and stream so I don't get bored out of my mind 3 tabling.

Thanks guys for returning to my stream and making the first day back very very enjoyable. New schedule for the month of October is going to look like: Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday Saturday, and most streams are going to be starting more or less 30 minutes to an hour from this post!

Having said that, I'm going live in about 5 minutes so day 2 here we go
