3 Month Challenge Summary Update

RB is an estimation as I don't want some people knowing my exact rb %. I can say, I have HEAVILY raked more than my rb.

Jan Profit: $10,100
Jan RB: $9000

Feb's Profit: -$25,692
Feb's RB: $10,000

March's Profit: $36,522
March's RB: $14,500

Total Profit: $20,930
Total RB: $33,500

$21k poker profit in my stakes isn't impressive at all tbh after 3 months. But at least it's profits. I'm really a #rakebackpro

Though my win rate is being eaten up by the monster rake. So without it, I guess I'm relatively crushing.

It Looks Bad, But It Ain't

Yeah looks like I got lucky against him, but range wise, this is the bottom of the barrel for me, pun unintended. I 3bet him pre, I have all the AA. If I even had AJ with a decent backup (it is 6 card after all), he's really in tough shape. If I have AA, he's almost dead to me.

Anyways I have this weekend kinda off, my gf took 2 extra days off. So going light on the volume to avoid any big losses so I can enjoy the time together. Instead of thinking about a huge loss over my head. Always plan for the worst.

I did play a bit in the AM, and just locked it up now. Was stuck a few thousand earlier.

Small Fish Is Still Fish

The high stakes were running, but no good table/fish on them, so I avoided it for most of the day waiting. I did get some hands in, but just broke even for the most part (generated rb). Ended the night with grinding 2/4 and 5/10 5c PLO. Game much smaller, but you'll still have a buncha idiots. Free dinner money I suppose (if luck allows you to).

You can dissect the hand yourself, but I went full pot flop and turn. And somehow both managed to call/get it in.

Tough Day

Started the day at 8am, took some breaks here and there, naps. Lunch. Dinner. Many restarts at different tables. But essentially was down fast and vicious. Was never positive. Peak down was around -$18K if I had to guess (almost erasing yesterday profit, omgah)

After many hours back and forth, with some complaints, calling it quits at.

It's My Birthday

So no joke, it really is my birthday. I played in the early AM because I couldn't sleep. And just finished locking the session in, simply because my gf and I both agree, the goal today is simply to be happy. And not give it back. I know, fish mentality, but it's also reality of risk aversion in regards to happiness.

I played some bigger pots obviously, but this was the highlight of how I simply couldn't lose today, on my BDAY!!! All-in pre, and I just bink that sweet sweet 2 outter, when it looks like im just flat out dead.

I know I haven't been grinding the past 3 days, been busy hanging with friends and whatnot. I don't want to pollute and transfer it over, but Literally went hiking yesterday, into the late night, where the stars were seen. Saw the question mark star constellation?

Yeah it really turned around in the last 1.5 months, Feb was just endless beatdowns and some complaints from me itt. I'm sure for the last 3-4 weeks, I've forgotten about "how bad I run compared to the fish". But I'm trying to honestly know/remember this is the good side of variance, acknowledge I'm having/had it, and be composed/ready when it swings down again.

I don't warm up for my sessions, but I'd generally fire 1 table in the beginning. And then slowly max it out to 3 over time. This is just due to my process of table-selection as at times I can come out with 2 or 3 out the gate.

However I do really relax generally after each session, even if it ends in a loss to "wind down" and reset the mind for the next day. A routine of sorts after the sesh, go on YT, watch starcraft/scammer-gurus/irs-tax-codes as of late. On "big" days, like today, I plan on taking it a step further, bubble bath at like 3am while reading a psychology book. I generally don't drink solo, but would take a glass if my gf was awake. One of my rules is, everything must be done in a celebratory manner. So I don't drink/drugs to relax, but only to celebrate. I know, its weird. Most people take a beer to kick back and enjoy.

Yeah it's still stressful having the swings, when you're down $10K, knowing another $15-20K could be relatively possible. I just try my best to "pray" and play my best. It helps to have a close private group of friends sweating, swinging in their own games, so it feels like we're all in it together. One of our generic mottos coming onto discord is, "is everyone winning today". Though it tilts one particular friend when he's stuck lol.

As for that two outter, once the flop hit, I was resigned to losing - sometimes its just your day

Birthday Luck Over

Started early in the AM, got crushed fast. At my worst point, was almost -$20K, completely erasing my monster session earlier, with a monster loss. Somehow managed to crawl back to -$6K at one point, but then couldn't hold on. Eventually started getting a headache, from lack of sleep, hunger maybe, not sure.

Went out to play tennis after a 30 minute nap (didn't want to), but ended up hitting one of my best days out of the year so far. Kinda weird.

Remaining Happy

Locking it in today for $1605, was up about $8K at peak, then I swung down into the negative and stuck almost $5K, give or take. Managed to crawl back into the positive, and chickened out. Generally I'd battle into the AM (sometimes), but really want to just watch Tv (umbrella academy on netflix) and video games.

Recently I've been thinking on the best way to future-proof myself in tax-sheltering. Whether jamming in pre or post tax. Without specifics, it's basically, do you think your income level is going to be higher now, or in retirement. Generally retirement income is lower, so you'd want to tax-defer it till then, but for poker players, it's quite a different story due to their, let's call it flexibility.

I MISSCLICKED INTO THE NUTS FOR $1400

What a freaking awful session. To be absolutely honest with myself, I'm not sure if what 50-90% of my A game I was today. I slept very little, about 3 hours of sleep, went out to do the covid-vaccine, my gf has a light fever from it. Idk about me. I'm questioning myself.

Then I straight up miss-click (not in a horrible way), but the ***** app put the call button in a horrible spot (BENEATH THE PLAYER PROFILE STATS). So after I exited the PLAYER STATS, I DOUBLE CLICKED INTO CALL. WITH Q HIGH BASICALLY. Goodbye $1400.

I also ran pretty bad, hero called incorrectly I think 3x, which costed close to like $5K. And overall, just kept losing over and over. Also lost a $15K pot, with near perfect realized equity, but didnt hit.

With all the being said, I hope I didn't play tilted/horribly, without realizing it due to the side effects of everything from today.

Was it coincidence that I did this poorly today[?] Probably. NOT!

My Temp Solution In Being A Mental Game Fish

I've always considered myself a robot, maybe others may share the same view. It takes a "relative" lot to hit my tilt-threshold. I've walked from some great games, on occasion. And because of that, I never tilt. I never spew. At least that's what I thought. Though according to that Poker Book from Jared (I read like 20 pages every bi-weekly), that in itself, is tilt, since I'm logging far less hours than I possibly could. A band aid to the problem. An effective one at that, for nearly 10 years.

So I basically didn't play any poker for the past week. Since my spiral from covid vaccine, tiredness, miss click of $1400 goodbye! and what not. I went out to the woods, had a cabin trip with some friends, got a taste of racism (been a year since my last fresh experience) - apparently my English isn't good enough, so a dude and his girl felt I was too "god damn chinese people" as he walked by.

I did play a tiny-tiny bit in the cabin, in the morning. Just to have that feeling, of trees, coffee/energy drink and a poker grind.

The KK442ndfd is just free money to me. Literally blocking everything from the other guy

2 Bullets, 2 Hands, $10K, I'm Out

Technically I'm not supposed to play today since I went out and had drinks (although light), went to this hotpot called Heidi something. First time ever seeing, ROBOTIC MACHINES DELIVERING FOOD TO YOUR TABLE. Apparently this is very common in asia, but first time personally for me seeing it in the USA (or anywhere). Other table had similar commotions about the service AI/robot.

I did notice, there were more EITS/cameras in that restaurant than any casino/bank I've seen (really same amount). Is it to uplink the AI/service robot to know? Or just to record, in case it ****s up, so no law suit. There were plenty of cameras outside too.

On to the poker. Anyways the table was great, people were straddling, I went in just hopes of not getting buried and sad I even started. Luckily for me, poker has been shinning a light on me since that miss click from last week. It actually semi-tilted me even afterwards, that I was kinda grumpy in the cabin trip tbh. Or it was the side effect from the covid-vaccine (was still like day 3 in).

My hand looks werid here, since my FD is dead (I just view it as blocks), and I dont have BDFD as backup. In a HU situation, against the guy on my very left, I'm actually getting it in slightly behind. Interestingly enough (this is why we love 6 card PLO), once the 3rd guy enters and shows up with that kinda holding, we become a decent favorite in a 3 way all-in. 46%,36%,18% estimated. Pretty coolio. What a hold!

Another lucky! Gotta remember these moments, while they last.

From Winning Month To Oopsies Losing Month

Highly don't see myself putting in another session, but if I do, will update. Well this month went bad, real quick. The essence is, I kept jamming 3-way pre, with some questionable holdings, in some questionable spots. But ended up, being slightly favorable, like 39% 3 ways, multiple times, for all the money.

However as I kept jamming this, and ultimately losing, I found myself bluffing a guy who is a clearly a trapper. And he trapped me alright. So I guess we could say, some non-optimal play from me. Anyways, game started to die down, and I didn't feel like playing much more.
