Didn't realize you were playing 45's too, would I recognize the SN?
Nice one! I was mixing the $1.50s in with my 180s in times of low traffic - but I think I only played like 20 of them over the past weekend.

Nickname is the same as here

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

, come to think of it I do remember that SN but from ages ago in $2.50's or something..

You going to stick with the 180's on your own roll? Not sure what i'll be playing next, if i run good enough to move up.

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

I've played 180s in fits and spurts over the last 12 months so it was probably there you seen me.

Yes, going to stick with 180s ($2.5s) partially on my own and sell some in the MP.

The 180 fields are probably softer than the $3.50 45s, def worth considering

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

Main reason i chose 18's/45's was due to only being able to part-time grind.. Might look into adding some 180's on weekends

Refresh my memory, how long do they run on avg and how long to ship one?

Anyway, might be seeing you more on the tables. GLGL

1hr 30 - 2 hours best and worst case scenario so there isn't a whole pile of difference between them iirc. Definitely worth considering imho.

Nice thread - following and interested!

What's your general review process - how do you decide if you're making the correct plays?

Hey Gary, good to see a fellow Irishman doing this.

What sort of starting roll do you need for these games? Considering where to focus heavily next with my poker goals and sng's are part of this.
Do you play live at all?

Subbed and best of luck

Hey and thank you for the kind words.

I usually open HM2 and look at the hands where I've won/lost in big pots. I'm happy enough with the early game plan which is pretty much folding all hands except for premiums and decent playable hands in position.

If there is hands that I am unsure of if I shove be shoving/calling a shove I use SNG Wiz - most people use ICMIZER but I have to admit it's not something I use (am able to use properly)

I also have a decent amount of Skype contacts/poker friends who I discuss hands with/review games/talk poker in general. That is probably the best way forward IMHO.

Hey mate,

Must say your screenname here doesn't sound very Irish

For 180s I'd recommend 150 buyins at the minimum, 200 is standard though and if possible I'd strongly advise it.

Live poker is something I barely do to be honest. I've played in a couple of pub games but not very often.

I did qualify and play in a Betfair Live Main Event in Cork back in 2012. I managed to chop a side event for 1.1k

I had intended to play some events in the Full Tilt IPO in Dublin this October but that will depend on how my bankroll is around the time!

What are your plans mate?

Back home after the nice few days away and back on the grind from tomorrow evening at the latest - may even get a few games in during the day.

Feeling refreshed and glad of the few days away.

Also, playing events 97 (Storm) and 98 (Main Event) of the MicroMillions on Sunday

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

So it seems that the bad run has followed me back from holidays!

Pretty turbulent night from start to finish. Don't think I won a hand/flip for the first two hours. Took me like 30 games to get an ITM and to a FT. First FT finished a disappointing 6th and I didn't improve on the 2nd time of asking when I bust 8th.

ITMs were few and far between and for a session of 50 games it was a bad night results wise. Once again, very happy with volume and I was consistently playing 12 tables for more than 2 hours which goes to show that I can play longer sessions than I first expected

EDIT: Took the last game of the day to the FT and then to the win to end the day +$32nny

It's a funny old game sometimes.

Post Re: 180 to 1 Part II

Very happy with how last night finished up but I played pretty bad on the FT making some bad decisions. I'm far too tight in certain spots and it's going to cost me money in the long run if I don't cop the **** on!

It was an interesting FT as there were two funplayers there they begun the FT uber short but they got lucky and built up some stacks. Made a hero call vs one of them with KK on a J55 board and didn't look back after that. Got lucky in the end binking a 2 when dominated by AK to pick up the win.

Looking forward to playing the end of the MicroMillions and spending one final day with the ladies before I go back work tomorrow.

Gl at the tables today everyone!

Doesn't sound like much of a hero with kings versus a rec on a super dry board

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

Gave the MicroMillions a decent attempt but didn't last an hour in the Storm.

The Main was much better and I chipped up to 45k without winning any showdowns and losing quite a few KK < AQ, QQ < AK for small pots (3-6k)

Was doing OK, 20BB about 2k people away from the money when the BU shoved his last 10BB and I called with 99 in the BB. He turned over JT.

Flop: x9x and we were 95% favourite
Turn: 8
River: Q

Down to 5BB but we doubled when we open shoved QTs and beat AKo.

Unfortunately, it was gg shortly after when our JJ was beaten by 76o - runout was something ridiculous like 35xx4

Back to 180s now, thankfullly - I don't miss MTTs!

Received some tragic news in our extended family last night so things have halted on the poker front.

It's amazing how things can change with just one simple phone call. Life is so short guys. Don't waste it.

Apologies for the delay in replying.

Yeh, haha, true... not sure where I was going with the Scandinavian screen name take on Mick (more like it) given I'm a northsider.

Not sure the turbos are for me though I play the odd few. Generally I like a longer format.

I like to play mtts and nlhe. Have picked up stud recently and really enjoying it.

Will continue to follow your thread

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

I'll be back playing tomorrow but here is the end of month review for July

Games played: 512
Winnings: $1,433.95
Net winnings: $153.95
ROI: 12%
ITM: 15.2%
FTs: 29

Giraffe:

Started out the month backed and continued to run pretty well. Unfortunately, after the initial good start things started to go a little pear shaped and I ended on a bit of a downer. Happy to be in profit though and 12% was my targeted ROI.

Off the tables, I did a lot of review work with other regs so I am very happy with that side of it. Playing well, studying enough and getting some good volume in. I'd be happy with the same again next month!

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

34 games today, the Mrs was out for the funeral and I spent a lot more time with the kids than usual which was nice.

Ran pretty **** in most games but did manage a couple of FTs along with an 10th and 11th. I had an 8th and a 1st.

The game that I won was pretty sick - had a huge stack (37K with 20 left) that I kept pretty much all the way to the end. With 6 players left I had over 1/2 the chips in play. From there on it was a cake walk and got there FTW.

Hoping for 50+ games tomorrow

Re: 180 to 1 Part II

Review of yesterday is complete and I'm happy with how I played. Missed a couple of shove spots though which obv needs improvement but all in all don't think I could have done much better.

Getting very near the 2K lifetime mark in the $2.5s and happy to see my ROI is still above 25%

Lifetime graph:

Graph since June 13th:

Proud of them giraffes - let's keep them going UP UP UP!
