Hey guys, most of you know me by now, and I fig'd I'd make a seperate challenge thread for August since I'm going to be going for the Merge SNG LB playing $2-5 super turbo's. Here's an overview of the payouts for the top 5 on the LB.

Introduction:
For those who don't know me, my name is Josh and I'm 20 yrs old and have been playing poker for a living since I was 18. I was living in Vegas pre BF and moved home the day after as I had just turned 20 and therefore couldn't grind live games in LV. So I returned home, was playing in some big (but kinda tough) home games and ended up just grinding on Merge again as live wasn't for me.

I don't have a big sample of ST's yet on Merge, but I'm not really worried about that, I've been mostly studying this week and I've got a decent sized sample of ST's played on FTP in the past. The toughest part will obviously be the volume . According to Rusemandingo, who btw will win the LB this month so I really trust his opinion, congrats Ruse btw , I'll need to play about 200-225 hours this month to achieve 12k games and I'll also have to hope that someone like JordanEbener doesn't grind hard because he plays way higher stakes and therefore would likely beat me out for 1st .

I got new shove charts and a new spreadsheet to study last week, and they've really improved my game imo, here's my LOL small sample of ST's since then below; I've been taking a break this week and mostly studying to rest up for August.

Setup:
Anyway, I kinda want to talk more about my setup, so here goes in that regards. Basically I'm going to be running StackAndTile and Mergekeys (my hotkeys) together to help make my life easier. SaT truly is awesome, it lets me stack all my tables in my normal stacking spot and it'll only pull out tables to the "grid" if I manually hotkey it there. I'm one who usually just stacks all my tables and doesn't worry about it, but this is a sick program for using on bubble spots when it's actually helpful to see an opponents shoving range or w/e it may be that makes you want to pull the game out of the stack. It's super easy to setup and use, and the way it works in game is so easy, I'd highly recommend it to any grinder out there on any site because afaik, it's setup to work on any site which is one of the best/most unique features about it. And the support is awesome, Greg Nice is very proactive in helping and has helped me out a ton in regards to helping me set it up. Well, this should be a fun month, whether I get 1st or not on the LB. I plan to give it my all, hit my volume goal of 12k games and give it my all.

I have the following propbets with friends as ways to increase motivation
-My 12k games against Gimmitheloot's 105k hands in August, $50
-My 12k games against Upgrayedd420's 6k sngs in August (hes behind in SNE pace), $50
-My 12k games at 1.25:1 odds in my favor against MCC2005, his $50 to my $37.50 (straight bet of me hitting the volume)
-My 9k games at 1:1 odds against MCC2005 (he rlly doesn't think I'll get anywhere near the goal ), his $50 to my $50
-Most volume against Aph0ticLife on Merge for August, $50.

I'll try to update after every session during the month as I doubt I'll be playing more than 3 hrs at a time without taking a 20-30 min break.

I'm heading out with a buddy for the day, gotta go sell some tires with him, grabbing some lunch and then gonna grind out some CoD at his house. I'll probably put in a short session tonight when I get home though I may just relax.

GL with this. We know you have the discipline to grind for a extend periods like we saw with the 2/180 prop so I think you can handle the volume. Would help to run good as well. =)

Definitely agree, it's weird that my buddy MCC2005 thinks i have ZERO shot to do this, might be because im down heaps to him in dumb props lifetime .

My most memorable prop win against him would be one day I think like 3 or 4 yrs ago, I was working at the Alpine Bank still and it was a saturday, and we're texting back and forth and come up with this prop bet. I have from the bank's closing time at noon until midnight EST to grind out 310 $5 DoN's on PS and at least B/E, $100 prop. Shoulda seen how fast I flew out of the bank that day, was pretty much undressing while running up my driveway, was pretty hilarious . Obv shipped the prop with 2 hrs to spare by 35-50 tabling and playing pretty terrible .

Thanks for the support guys, appreciate it. Gonna prolly need a lot of it during the big downswings I have during the month. I think if I can get off toa good start like I did with the $2 180 prop last october theres almost no chance of me not winning....it's tougher when you start off bad and have to grind it out while down.

Anyway, hungout with my buddy GB today, we took about a 45 min roadtrip to go sell some tires he had for $300 then grabbed lunch and came back and crushed at CoD for about 4 hrs . Seems like a good day of relaxing imo. Got invited to go see Transformers with GB + like 8 other friends but politely declined, kinda tired and mehhh, didn't really wanna hangout today anyway.

Prolly get in a small session tonight and other than that just sit around and relax.

Is the leaderboard based solely on volume?

Is this all under your backing to grind out of MU?

Nah it's based actually on buyin + finish position, and it adds in what is called a "streaker" bonus which is just the biggest number of games you've won in a row, so I'm at a disadvantage since I play lower stakes.

And no, I bought out of that stake agreement (paid MU back at X%) and am on my own for this since I can afford these (obv signed with the 1st backer under an MTT contract) and I don't wanna have to deal with his BS during the month

Yea the lobby filters are horrible, I've heard they will be improved in the next update (don't have a date for that). I use Mergekeys which handles the buyins for sng's and is also my playing hotkeys and then StackAndTile for my table setup on screen. SaT especially is an awesome program as I usually stack but if I wanna watch a hand play out/see a spot, it's 1 key to snap it to the grid outside the stack, and 1 key to snap it back in place...so ez .

Well played 2 mini sessions on my 4th to last "vacation" day before the big grind. Ran ridiculously well, I'm obviously using up all the run good in July so I have none left in August .

Did a HH review with a friend, went over some more hands myself and then ground out some NHL 11 since my PS3 is taking a month long vacation, aka staying at my buddy GB's house so I can't have the urge to quit loading to play CoD all afternoon during August.

Looking like it might be super tough to win the LB, there's quite a few guys putting up a tough fight at the end of this month (Gogogo ruse! Hold em off!) plus I've heard of more guys trying next month. Should be pretty fun.

Gonna head to bed early tonight, prolly watch some south park and fam guy and be asleep by 2 or 3. Gonna try to get in similar volume Friday as I've been getting the last few days, just been loading as long as I feel like it and snap quitting as soon as I wanna do something else since it is my vaca .
