Flat broke atm with a 159£ in my total life fund, lots of reasons (tl) but no money for much fun stuff but on the plus side i just passed my lifeguard training an got a great new gf who's lovely + hot. Wanna take her out and treat her right so need to get to work.
Will be starting at lol burger stakes again. maybe 5 / 10NL i guess. Am actually not to bad a player but we shall see
Goals:
* Turn 159£ into £10K.
* Get to 100NL
* Stop being broke at the end of every month and getting hundreds of £'s bank charges.
* Swim a 400m in under 6min (current PB 6:14).
* Go Glastonbury.
* Become a RNLI beach lifeguard. (Just passed RLSS course which allows me to apply.
* Get down to 84KG / 20 chinups unaided / 6 pac
Thanks all for now, will post HHs regularly and berate regfish.
So decided to quit my stake at end on last month and go it alone (was playing 50 and some 100NL). Overall i didn't like not being in control of my BR and also have been working a bunch on my game so feel really positive about my expected WR. Have played a bit in last few days at 10NL and some 20NL with good results. Few hands:
Preflop: Hero is BTN with 7 8
CO raises to $0.40, Hero calls $0.40, 2 folds
Flop: ($1.10) 6 T 9 (2 players)
CO bets $0.20, Hero raises to $2.70, CO calls $2.50
Turn: ($6.50) K (2 players)
CO bets $0.20, Hero raises to $5.70, CO raises to $11.20, Hero raises to $23.17 and is all-in, CO calls $8.41 and is all-in
River: ($45.72) 7 (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $45.72 pot ($2.28 rake)
Final Board: 6 T 9 K 7
CO showed J Q and won $43.44 ($20.73 net)
Hero showed 7 8 and won $0.00 (-$22.71 net)
Vs active reg, think i could fold turn here (a friend said to stop being paranoid i4BPs cos people don't bluff enough to make folding ever that bad)...
Been playing a decent bit in last few days, haven't checked results but definitely lost a lot in my last two days worth of sessions. Overallouldn would rate my mental game at 7/10 which is pretty decent for me. I felt very tense at the end of my last session but calmly **** down my tables and shut down my computer which is definitely a good win for my self awareness.
In terms of my play I would have to say my game needs a lot of work when running badly. I tend to open up my iso'ing ranges a little too much and take too many thin 3B spots. This means I lose a ton of small pots as postflop I tend to play fairly solid / passive CB strategy checking a lot OOP. When I run bad it feels like I check call a lot of flops / turns then have to fold turns or rivers more often than not due to devil card runouts. Meh would rate my play at 6/10 today, needs some work for sure !!!
Life is decent apart from that some sun her last few days and waves - scored a new job today coaching kids to surf which starts Monday so that'll be good fun Will post some hands and a graph tomo although it'll be ugly viewing haha, pretty sure I folded 900 rivers today after investing over half my stack. More
Soon GL
So BR is now £177 which is not enough for 20nl so back to 10nl, have decided to cap out my table number at six from now. Starting a fresh DB now since i am so early into the challenge and my DB is like 8GB cos its got all my old hands in it, think it causing my computer to mess up, and HUD to run slow.
So gonna delete my results tab from the HEM tables, have a postit note over the top corner of my screen so i can't see the cashier.
Goals for next 2 weeks:
* 25K hands at 10NL
* Not check results not even once So hard for me - but great mental game exercise.
* When playing only think about making the best decision possible in each hand. Try not to even think about pots that just went down bc they take focus away from the job in hand.
* Rate my play in terms of mental strength / focus / awareness, strategy out of 10 each day.
So decided that given my small BR not checking the cashier isn't gonna work too well for me. Will be posting results but trying hard not to check them in session.
River: ($18.40) Q (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $11.65 and is all-in, SB folds
Spoiler:
Results: $18.40 pot ($0.92 rake)
Final Board: 3 7 T 8 Q
SB mucked and lost (-$9.10 net)
Hero mucked A A and won $17.48 ($8.38 net)
not sure on my line postflop here, overall i think its good. Some things i wanted to consider are:
Should i have a raising range on this texture given how tight ranges are preflop?
No i think flatting is better bc thats how i would play sets, flush draws and JJ-AA
Should i call down if villain triples?
Don't expect villain to 3B TT or 77, we block nutflush and board blocks a any suited connectors with an 7, so (worst case scenario) villains river value range is goin to be:
KK (6 combo's) QQ (3 combo's) 89ss, 9Tss, 45ss, 78s, T8s, (diamonds and clubs 4 combo's total) J9s (4 combo's) but he will also bluff off missed hearts imo, however board blocks a ton of middling heart hands. So thats just AXhh (will given him 4 combo's A2-A5) and 45hh. Again i don't know what he would 3B given the positions so this is just a quick guessed breakdown.
If he ships its around a half PSB so we need 27% equity to call, hands we beat:
Math 11/25*100= 44% equity so we should call a jam here.
Is 4Bing preflop better than flatting ?
I think i prefer to 4B here readless, i prefer to flat if villain 3Bs too much in these positions for sure, especially if he has offsuit broadways in his range.
Vs reg, felt like a fold at the time, on closer inspection i think calling is decent readless assuming he bluffs with Ad at least some of the time, occasionally is clicking buttons, and occassionally value bets a worse T for this sizing:
Results: $10.30 pot ($0.51 rake)
Final Board: 4 6 T J T
Hero mucked A T and lost (-$5.10 net)
BTN showed 4 4 and won $9.79 ($4.69 net)
Vs fish with pretty tight limping range, i think i have enough implied odds here to call turn and possibly donk on good rivers, but not sure completely:
Been trying to grind volume but its tough when you have so many questions to answer about wtf your doing at the tables. Today played some C-game early on, then some decent enough poker but still many mistakes. Overall i have been working on my overbetting which i found a HEM filter for and its working pretty well so far. Here's a few losing hands though that i found:
Results: $11.40 pot ($0.57 rake)
Final Board: T K 6 T 2
SB showed Q Q and won $10.83 ($5.13 net)
Hero showed 9 7 and lost (-$5.70 net)
Main mistakes are not picking the correct villains to use it on, not acknowledging their flop range can be nutted and also not considering what the river card changes enough.
Overall overbet river results are good and loving the fact its lots of small pots which means in the long run should hopefully be sustainable fingers crossed:
Results from last couple days, running good for sure, need another 25 buyins for 50NL so really trying to work hard atm:
Been playing some dropped a couple buyins trying out some new bet sizing strategies in 3Bet pots but nothing too much to worry about. Just played a interesting hand vs a fish, anyone have any thoughts on river here the fish insta donkshuved
Not played much in last week, been away with gf and stayed in her mums house overlooking the beach with a hot tub spa so was living the dream, we have got the place to ourselves for christmas this yr which is awesome.
Passed my lifeguard exam last thursday so start my fulltime paid training tomo, got some CPR course then i'll train on jetski's and IRB (inshore rescue boat). Also of note was pretty happy to achieve one of my OP goals:

Did it in 5:58mins on thursday as part of the lifeguard induction exam which i am really happy with, although since then i feel like i haven't trained at all so need to regain some disipline tomo and hit it again.
Poker results of late i been trying stuff out, running kinda poorly in setups but very well in EV, so breaking even and winning some rake. Volume so low though that no real indication. Results since i started this thread 3 wks ago:
Hey people, time for a quick update. So i been busy in the real world and haven't played much poker lately - i have made the grade as a fully qualified RNLI Lifeguard (Royal Nation Lifeboat Institute) which is the second largest UK charity and runs an emergency service to help keep Britains beachs and coastline safe. So i have been working on the local beaches as a lifeguard and also doing some surf coaching.
I recently trained with RNLI to become casualty / first aid qualified which has been a great thing for me. I feel much more confident in my trade now, and also will be doing some voluntary ambulance / paramedic work in the near future to gain experience in this area. I plan to carry on playing poker when ever i can but purely as a sideline. I deceided i want to start collecting useable qualifications that i can use for the rest of my life and that means being proactive an disciplined in terms of what i use my time for.
I also just watched a interesting video on sitting down that some of you may find beneficial / scary
Anyway back to poker - so i tried to reload my bonus for rakeback the other day but got denied by my affiliate so have moved skin again and waiting for funds to move over, will be moving as of a day or two time and back into the mix at 20NL games. Results since i started the thread are:
Hands: 14,756
EV €: 122.68
€ Won: 246.79
Total won with RB: €388.51
Will update when i get some hands in - hope everyone is well and crushing - more soon GL
