i am adding one more to the countless threads of turning 100$ to 10000$

Actually i am not doing it for the money, i have a decent paid job in high tech and play poker mainly for fun. Of course 10000 would be a nice extra, but it is neither life changing nor even having and influence on any extra spending i would use it for. So i have a bigger bankroll, but like to play pretty low stakes and only slowly increase the stakes. So don't expect any quick or spectular stuff hear, i just will grow the bankroll i am counting for this thread, step by step.

I will run the whole challenge entirely by hyper-turbo satellites. So not much hands to share, but rather only stats and progress. Will start very low with 16max satellites for tournaments between 1,10 and 5,50 (so buy in for satellites just 0,15 to 0,75).

So to not get you totally bored i will share couple of stories about my private live once in a while and also what sort of things i do to improve my game in that format.

Work in high tech development, pretty much like my job, so Poker is by no way any dream to get out of my job...like i read it so often here.

Have been married , two kids. Divorced already about ten years ago,
After my divorce i behaved two years like a teenager and there has been lot of come and go, though i always have been faithfull. Then one long 6 year relation. That i broke up because iof another woman. That new relation has been both very intense and good feelings, but also difficult and ended about 2 month ago. Now i am single, but definetly comfortable with it right now. Yeah i do not want this to be forever, but for now i am happy that summer is starting here (i am based in germany) and that i have time for myself.

Health, weight etc.
I have been very sporty during my school and university times. Playing semi-professional badminton and doing sport every day (at least once, some days twice). Nowadays i do less sport, but would need to do a lot more to keep my body in shape. It does not come as natural as when i was in my 20s Anyhow i always take care i not get to big, doing regularly some sport and especially also doing intermediate fasting (i can just cope with that easier then any other form of fasting).

That's it for now. I am aware that this blog is far away from main stream, and neither the stakes nor the poker variant will catch that much interest. Nevertheless hope i find some readers here to follow my block.

My kids are 16 and 12 years.

After my divorce my ex-wife went with the kids back to her hometown that is about 220 km away from place where i live and worked that time.

Anyhow the international company i worked for ramped-down the research center i worked after 18 years. And after that i had to look for new work anyhow and found it exactly the home town my ex-wife

So now i am during the week again in the same town as my ex-wife and the kids.

Poker: +6,13$ now (161 games)

My challenge had a good start. First two days at the weekend i played quite some volume for a hobby player.
Overall 164 games, getting my first rake back chest with a whooping 9 cent.

What else, forgot to mention that i did some challenge myself (without post) 2016. That year my target was to reach in lowest level 6 max Hypers the sharkscope leaderboard. And indeed i got there. So for low stakes level i have decent knowledge of push fold ranges and ICM aspects. However that time it was for 6 max hypers (the 25BB, not the Satellites), so the structure is different and i still need to run several simulations to better understand some of the spots (especially the second table).


What sort of woman i fall for:
I am myself very talkative and love joking around (in mails, chat, phone calls whatever). I easily fall for talkative , clever woman that have sense of humor. That just makes it more interesting...

Running overall very good, however i had my first loosing streak of 17 games in one row. Well pretty normal for 16max with just 2 places paid. However i still need to get used to the variance again after quite some break with poker

Some general things about my strength and weakness concerning Poker:

+ Im totally tilt resistant. Has been different when i started playing about 10 years ago. But nowadays i know that variance is sometimes on the rainy and sometimes on the sunny side. I just try to make the best decisions and stay focus.
+ Very disciplined when i play. Fully focused, no destractions.
+ Good grasp the mathematical aspects. I am not memorizing spots, but understand the maths behind and love using simulation tools to analyse different spots

- Way to conservative bankroll management. Even i have lot bigger life roll compared to what i have on my poker account , i play it always totally safe. Even i have no real financial target, i consider that as limiting factor , as something that keeps me away from even trying to reach my full potential in poker
-Too much result focussed. Not in terms of result, but maybe some ego thing that i want to rather have constant stream of small winnings then taking risk and going for gold. That is why i guess i have limited potential in MTTs unless i find the switch in my brain for this

serious that is my best game

However i am basically beating all sort of games that are on the super duper lowest peanuts level.
Cash i beat it up to NL10 (roughly 10BB/100 for about 15k hands)
Even MTT which i guess is my worst game i had couple of wins like 3rd out 5000 in 0,55 (roughly 150 $). I am pretty sure i beat it up to like 5,50$ buy in.

I have however never tried anything above that. Anyone having an idea how big are the jumps if i would go bit further ?
Would be glad if someone could give some feedback based on his experience.

NL Cash: Beating NL10 for 10BB/100 , very likely to beat NL25 ?
MTT: Beating up to 5,50$ (hard to estimate by what ROI as my sample size clearly below 5000 MTTs), most likely beating MTTs up to 20$ or so ?
Hypers (my best game) beating 6-max (25BB) for ROI of 6-8% (which is significant in that format and the reason why i made it to sharkscope leaderboard in the smallest stakes < 2$). Likely to beat 7$ ?

I see you're not doing a speedrun and you clearly stated it, but how long do you think the $100 to $10000 in poker will take you and are you serious about really going for completing it?

Your question about how hard the game is. Depends on the field, it's still the same game. Dunno about cash, never climbed high there. In spins people get more capable to fold to 3bet the higher you climb and limp trap / limp defend more, but again really depends on the players you're up against. You can still be put against fish in $500 spin & go, if you're lucky, for example, but you can also get put against 2 good regs and then get chipped away and maxvalued from like a grape.

Yes i am serious about completing all the way from $100 to $10000, though i agree it is some risk it take "endless" if i not move up in stakes.

The $17 i made so far are even a total sick heater
But serious, the buy-in on 16max formal is like bit more then 1:8, so my average buy-in at the moment is about 45 cent. Therefore my ROI so far is about 20% which is in hyper format totally not reachable long term. If i am really good, i might make 6-7% ROI = about 3 cents per game. That would be 330.000 games on my actual stakes to complete it !

Even with a volume of maybe 20000 games a year that would still take me 17,5 years, LOL.

So only chance that i will really make it is to climb up the stakes. Which is bit behind my question about how fast the skill level is growing.

Taking the comments about increasing level in Spin into account i might make same experience in hyper 16max sats. That more and more capable players in higher level, but still some that have no clue about the format and bleeding money. If that is the case then i should still beat it, but with lower and lower ROI when climbing up. Well let's see, i hope i can climb up till at least the buy-in of $7,5 (Sats for $55). Otherwise really i have no reasonible time frame to complete it.

Not because of results, 250 is totally no sample in that format. But because i see soo many mistakes in my opponent games

To the question if i can complete my challenge. I think yes, concerning the speed i see two major impacts. The two "W" Woman and Wheather

Woman:
First time since long that i am single, if it stays like that, i will have more time for poker.

Wheather:
I will be a lot more outside and enjoy nature if there is nice and sunny wheather. So the wheather this summer has significant impact on the time i devote for poker.

Any suggestions how i can make the blog more interesting are highly welcome. Both private or poker.

I planned to play quite some volume this weekend, but real life get's into the way.
Played just about 50 games roughly break even (running bad, normal run defintely some profit).

So this update about real life,hehe.

I just recently noticed that the way i deal with my ex woman has significantly changed during my life. I am in my late 40s now and till age of around 25 (before my marriage) i never was able to keep contact, when it was done it was done. Starting with my divorce it changed (i was the one deciding to go). After the emotional hassle of the first month i managed to keep good contact with my ex wife for sake of the kids, but also in general we could go on well on another level.

And same then after my marriage, when now some relation broke up i still kept contact. Important still in my life are both my last two ex:

ex1: From 2011 to 2017 i had six year relation and it was a good time. Last year before broke up things has developed not too well. Anyhow the break up occured when i met my last ex, call it ex2. Before i have always been faithfull. That time it was first in my life that i ended up in bed room with ex2, while still being together with ex1. Ouch, i felt happy and excited and first time very guilty. Then about 2 month ago i broke up with ex2 (after about 15 month).

Well a lot more details to tell. But the main point is that, they both play some role in my life still.

ex1 for whatever reason, even she know that i have not been faithful, she decided that we can still be friends. We just go on well in communiation and even we both know that we not be a couple again i am happy to have her in my life.

ex2: Well all is very fresh and after we borke up we not see us 5 weeks. Then we met at her appartment to exchange all the sort of stuff that we had still from each other. Both we had no expectations before and had in our mind that probably this is last time we see each other for at least the next time. However that meeting we felt surprisingly well and spent 6 or 7 hours talking, bit hugging us sometimes and feel well. Now yesteray she sent me message that she will bake a cake and if i would like to join her to talk. I did that and we go on well again. Then in evening she asked me if i like to join her go dancing with two her friends. So yup we went dancing. And as the story goes after dancing she asked me if i like stay. So this day finally ended up staying over night. Anyhow we just felt like hugging and kissing and fall asleep arm in arm, no sex....i know not an original story happens similar things to many here....just want to share it as i am confused now... we both know and talked about it that we not sure if we want to give relation a try again....for now we just want to enjoy that we feel good with each other and still give us something..but wee, i know that it can not be like this for long.....either we start again, or will maybe completely loose us out of sight

Fells strange to share that things in some anonymous blog like this. Anyhow i can't talk that with lot of people and it feels good to tell it, to voice out my story. So never mind for all the readers just interested in poker here, hehehe

I have started to slightly increase the buy-in. Now playing 16 max Sats for tournaments $2,20 to 7,50 (before 1,10 to 5,50). On 7,50 i saw first players that multitable and play higher volume, however they are not that much better then the lower stakes. Still i see lot of mistakes on that level,so i am confident i will continue beat the stakes. But yub, will be more swingy bankroll, some more ups and down, but i still will continue to grow it hopefully more or less steadily.

I am happy with both the quality of my play and as well the volume. 444 games does not sound much for hyper sats, however i have a quite demanding job and additional last weeks that stuff with my ex-girlfriend, so really not that much time for poker. Still feel totally no difference in the skill level of opponents after slightly increasing the rake. Of course way to small sample to tell anything. In that sort of short stack hypers 470 games could still just be a total upswing. Nevertheless i feel confident that i beat the games i currently play in the long run. I just see too many mistakes of my opponents, especially at the FT.

RL:
Story with my ex-gf will continue. She contacted me again and we agreed i visit her tomorrow late afternoon in her flat and that we decide later if we boith feel that i stay over night or not. Really sounds weird, but it feels like totally relaxed between us now, i mean we both don't want get back into relation, but still we like to spent time with each other and no one pushing the other towards either directlon. Even staying over night, sleeping in same bed, it seems ok for both of us. And it also totally feels ok if either we just cuddle and hug and she falls asleep in my arms of if we have sex. I know that this will not be for long, after some weeks it might go back to that point that we almost not having any contact. But for now i enjoy it and especially that i can feel that she like it too and is relaxed about it too (by the way , she has been the one to break up).

Spent again lot of time with my ex-gf including staying over night in her flat again. And will do the same tomorrow evening/night again. Still same, no sex, which is totally ok. We both feel still well with each other including still cuddling, hugging a lot and also kissing. Nevertheless it feels both sides that we not want to go back. No idea what is going on here, never had something so weird in my life yet, hehehe

What are the most common mistakes i see from my opponents.

first table:
Push ranges relative ok for many players. Some does not have a clue.
Call ranges, most players not have a clue and even thoose that have some idea are still not adapting enough to the position of the pusher and the stack sizes.

second table:
overall very bad adaption to the specific payout...
will not tell more about that, many hours of simulation work behind and i not want give that know how for free here, lol
Anyhow i believe that here many many players make terrible money sucking mistakes

which results in making in 10 minutes about 30$ on total peanuts stakes, LOL
but after that then 20 games with no score, getting one cooler after the other (like loosing AA vs A3 and many 70% favourite situations)

so even when the figures i report look like a steady slow increase of my roll,the real graph of all games is a lot more swingy

real life:
Situation with my ex-gf still try. Stayed last weeks 3 times over night cuddling , hugging,talking, but no sex. Anyhow we got also more closer and she mentioned something like that we might think about being a couple again. To remember,she was the one to break up. Weird thing, we have lot of happy moments now, both at home or also when go out dancing or so. Still it not feels like good to start it all over again.

Had lengthy communications with my ex, guess we come to the point that we both think it would not work to start it over again. Still emotional as we currently have good vibes, but there does not really seem to be a way back. That is pretty tough for me as i am working around 45 hours and it is really nice wheather outside now. But yeah i try to make it.

It shows that games played on my home computer. Bit more then 400 out of the roughly 600 since start of the challenge. The remaining 200 i played on my laptop. That's why roughly 30% of the profit missing in this graph, hehehe
