I'm 32 years old, and starting my Microstakes journey the odds are stacked against me with so many sharks in the water.. But i know deep in my heart that my abilities, and belief in myself shall prevail against these fine young aggressive players.
My motivation for playing is to create a second income at the moment, I'm currently doing online arbitrage on Ebay/Amazon. It's not only the slow season, but I absolutely hate doing it. A lot of people think that its fun to work at home, or be your own boss.. Well its nothing like people think its a lot of stress, and responsibilities.. but I been hustling since I was in my early twenties, and now have a house, and a wonderful family..
Poker is a very entrepreneurial field, which is why I absolutely love it. Yes there's stress, and tilt involved.. However at the end of the day I'm falling in love with this game.
My goal for the end of the year is to move from 10 NL to 50 NL, and be good enough to play 1/2 Live. I'm very lucky to live in Florida, and it is the host of some really great casinos.. Online poker is a great learning ground, provides great competition, and also can put in sick volume.. But in the end I'm a old school geezer, and want to have my fun with the boys on the felt.
Mix of 6Max & Full Ring
Also my volume is extremely low i started off playing just one table to fully concentrate on the game.. and moved up to two, I tried playing three while I could play three I'm not quite there yet.. I'll only add a third one if its a extremely juicy table with some bad fish, and I have good position on them.. I'm very selective on my tables.
I started by playing one hour a day, than moved it to 1.5 now two... I had a couple of four hour sessions one was extremely good, one was extremely bad.. but I was in the zone... Typically I get tired after two hours of play, so my goals by the end of next month is to make it a consistent 2.5 hours of play to add in more volume ill work on that gradually.
Last thing I think its great to express my feelings about certain hands, goals, and motivation.. It will help me look back on this down the road to work on myself, and my game..
Just about to finish reading the mental game of poker by jared tendler on the last chapter this will be fun
