There was some advice from Fried Meulders (mynameiskarl) talking about how humans crave linear progression and while poker has a learning progression, the results progression is extremely non-linear in the short term, only becoming linear in the LONG LONG term. Therefore, you need to find some other type of linear progression in your life (studying or improving a musical instrument, working out, some type of sport, learning a language etc) in order to feel more fulfilled. I think Fried is completely right; poker is very often unsatisfying and you need some external sources of satisfaction.
is great advice

Haha that would be great.

Thanks again and feel free to share your thoughts/advice in here anytime man.

In this simple sentence Jarretman nails it IMHO.

Why?

Because it should be pretty clear by now that the quickest way to win (for a while) at online NLH is to embrace real time solvers, played on a separate device, and strum away at multiple keyboads, like some modern-day Rick Wakeman (OK, I'm old the clue is in the username.)

For the masses online NLH poker has become like enhancement abuse was in professional cycling a decade or so back...you can cheat or you can lose. Except no governing body is going to come along and clean up online poker...it will go the other way, with Governments/regulators progressively shutting it all down (and don't even get me started on unregulated apps ).

Online for training; live for the moniez. Plan A, B & C. If you can't make that work...take your talents elsewhere.

Good Luck

PS Just for the record, I've never use RTA or anything like, in fact I've never infringed any rules or ethics of the game, live or online. Not because I've a snowy white moral compass (far from it) but simply because I could never be assed. I don't need the money and I've got better things to do with my time.
Thanks for taking the time to poast this up OMD Seems like good advice, I'll keep all of that in mind.

Re bolded: Will do.

Fair enough. Maybe you're right SpinMe.

It's okay, no worries. Staying in touch with reality never hurt anyone.

Re: 1.c4: Chessman begins his poker journey

Hey everyone!

Random Hands from recently

HH1: 100NL AKcc on AK5ddd vs. weaker player

$155 effective. According to the app, V currently has a > 50% VPIP, and is up 1-3 buyins. Notes: Cold called CO w/ 98o pre vs. 3x.

OTTH

Pre-flop: UTG limps $1. CO raises $2. Fold to me in the BB and I 3-bet to $8 with A K. UTG calls.

Flop ($20.50): A K 5. Hero c-bet $14. UTG calls. I think I should be c-betting small or checking on monotone flops in this configuration but V being a whale threw me off. Is this a good exploit?

Turn ($48.50): A K 5 10. Hero checks. V bets $20. Hero calls.

River ($88.50): A K 5 10 2. Hero checks, V bets $53.50. Hero?

HH2: 100NL KsKh: Are you shoving this river?

$70 effective. According to the app, V currently has a 33-50% VPIP, a <20 PFR, and is running normal.

OTTH

Pre-flop: CO limps $1. SB completes $1. I iso BB $5 with K K. CO calls. SB folds. I usually go 6-7x pre here in the blinds vs. two limpers, but both V's were shortstacking so thought 5x was better. Are you still going larger?

Flop ($11.00): A 9 7. Hero c-bets $3.75. V calls.

Turn ($18.50): A 9 7 K. Hero bets $12. V calls.

River ($42.50): A 9 7 K 5. Hero?

V has about $50~ left.

HH3: 100NL Qs10h: Do you like this triple?

$105 effective. According to the app, V currently has a 33-50% VPIP, PFR >25%, and is down 1-3 buyins.

OTTH

Pre-flop: Hero RFI BTN $3 with Q 10. SB cold calls. BB folds.

Flop ($7): J 6 3. V checks. Hero c-bets $2.50. V calls.

Turn ($12): J 6 3 9. V checks. Hero bets $15.

River ($42): J 6 3 9 A. V checks. Hero bets $35.

Thoughts? V may be a little tilted, which had me conflicted.

HH4: 100NL JcJd: 4-bet pot OOP on K-high board

$100 effective. According to the app, V currently has a 20-32% VPIP, PFR >15%, and is running normal. Notes: Nitty, but 3-bet me back to back hands.

OTTH

Pre-flop: Hero RFI UTG $3 with J J. MP 3--bets $9. Folds around to hero, who 3-bets to $25. V calls. UTG vs. +1 I think I can call here, but usually opt for the more aggressive action when it’s close. Thoughts?

Flop ($51.50): K 6 5. Hero c-bets $15. V calls.

Turn ($81.50): K 6 5 8. Hero checks. V shoves $60. Hero?
