Decent shorter session after some ACR with my buddy at his place last night, up $300 at 2/5 at a great table. Open AsAh, whale calls, T92sss, disrespectfully overbet pot, he snaps, turn 9, he jams $280, I snap, win v. 5s2h. (V: "I thought I had a flush!" Sure you did.) Sadly, I had to leave in order to get enough sleep for work, around 2:30 a.m. (Happily, I have a job.)

After work, went for a little poker and started well at 2/5, doubled up with red QQ: flatted btn v. CO iso to $60 in straddle, gii HU against pfr on turn on 8865ccss and held v. V's JJ.
Then bled down quite a bit, getting QQ cracked by whale's 92 (I bet three streets on 9-high flop for clear value and he tank called river...?). Got a little hero-y against this V and called river with Q-high once for a 1/5 pot bet. Lost a couple more against a tight V who c/r me twice when I had A9 on AT9 and QT on QT8, I folded both times (he was a 1/3 player). Stacked same guy on T-high flop with JJ and AA on 9h-3h-5-3h-Ac. Ended up $230 on the day.

After work (although I check my email even after "work hours"), 5-5-straddle PLO went well. Got a seat before the whale busted and the game broke, up $650 there in 30 minutes. B/E or so at mediocre 2/5 (lots of 5/10 regs), then down $100 at 1/3 after getting back from dinner list. I value-owned myself with 88 on T-9-3-6-2 against V's QQ. V opened to $30 and I flatted $350 eff. and I bet flop and turn (granted, small) when checked to HU IP. I joked with V at showdown that he didn't have to worry, I didn't have kings.

5/10 opened where I got stacked with KcKd on Ah-Qh-3s-4d-Ac against V's AK in 3! pot. This V had just shown down 64hh in a srp for $125 which he bet with bottom pair otf. Couldn't bring myself to fold KK unblocking hh and AK right after seeing that hand. Flop checked through, V started barreling turn and jammed river. I had to call $350 to win $1,500. Oh wellz.

Interesting character soon arrived full of $100s rolled up ostentatiously, drinking Macallan and sporting gucci gear, tipping everyone very generously. Apparently recently got out early of a long prison stint stemming from a case tainted by a corrupt FBI agent. We got along well until I 3! his blind raise for the fifth time (I was to his immediate left) and he got annoyed and said we wouldn't be talking anymore. Joke's really on me because I lost 4/5 of those pots; once he bluffed me off the winner, but the rest he simply improved and I did not where I was dominating or a 65 fav against him pre. Ended down $1,200 at 5/10 (really more like 25/50+ given V's blind raises to $50 and $100 that I 3!), a $700 loss on the night. Still sitting on my best month ever, just not as good as it was a week or so ago.

New job is going well, getting into a flow and getting things done. The initial anxiety and stress is subsiding.

After a night off, played one last session for the month and finished strong, up $1,800, $1420 1-2 5-card and $360 2/5, so around a $9,000 profit on the month or $37/hr., my best numbers yet. If a couple sessions had gone differently, I'd have had my first six-figure month! Attribute the good results to (1) playing better and (2) buying in deeper than the minimum, as I used to. (While running well of course.) Now that I'll be paring down my hours due to the day job (bittersweet), I'll probably have to keep doing these things to make up for the lost volume.

July 2020 by game/stake:

NL Hold 'em:
1/3: $637 in 19 hours (11 bb/hr.)
2/5: $1,690 in 68 hours (5 bb/hr.)
5/10+: $2,040 in 38 hours (5 bb/hr.)

Omaha:
1/2 and 2/2: $4,600 in 50 hours (30 bb/ hr.)
5/5+: -$1,400 in 6 hours

Mixed games (home games):
$1,100 in 39 hours (around 9bb/hr. averaging the $5 bring in and no bring in games)

July 2020 hours: 241.

Also made $2,200 the last couple weeks of June at $25/hr. over 68 hours. Not too shabby coming out of the shutdown! And I checked my downswing numbers from earlier in the year and I lost less than I thought: $2,500 loss in January. Not terrible at all.

August started well, played a little 2/5 waiting for 5/10, lost $170 there. All tables are now 7-max so it doesn't take much before the table is 4- or 5-handed. Anyway, that happens at our table, where I've been driving a lot of the action this session, and the tightest player at the table suddenly exclaims that he doesn't want to play "short-handed" and suggests breaking the game.

I had absolutely no interest in breaking - there was a lot of free money there - so I told him (from across the table, speaking through plexiglass dividers) that if he wanted to play at a full table he could just leave (and implicitly play a different stake, since table transfers are not allowed). He responds with: "I know you are itching to gamble, I can tell. They have places for people like you; they're called meetings. Gamblers Anonymous." :O The floor was called over to break the game and I kinda angrily told the floorperson, "Some f****ing nit wants to break the game 5-handed!"

To say I've gone through a transformation since this shutdown started would be a bit of an understatement....

5/10 went great, made good reads and ran well, up $1,750. A $1,500 profit on the day.

WOW!

DT, calling someone else a nit. These sure are crazy times. It sounds like you must of opened up your game.

Wait, you 3bet to 100 over a 50 blind raise? Is that correct?

Sunday's short session went fine, aces cracked by 55 on Q-5-5-4-J, b/b/c $225 river donk. Down $500 2/5, but up $800 5/10 and a little at 1/3, so a decent $350 or so session. (5/10 biggest hand was AI pre with TT v. A4cc 5-handed. Won both runouts, second one V flopped trip 4s but I rivered Ts full.) Back to work now!

Played a little 1/3, lost $80 in unmentionable ways, then made $700 at 5/10 (KK held), then fun limit mixed home game up $60. I am totally clueless at limit mix. E.g., I open folded A2346 in badacey because it had three spades - I forgot it was a split pot game razz and badugi. Later, I was dealt A2348 (A234 badugi) and forgot that there are no 5-card badugis and discarded my 8 because it shared a suit with my 4 (...lol) and was dealt a K, which I discarded and was dealt a Q, which I kept because I was worried I would pair up! I would have scooped if I kept the 8 of course. Clueless limit noob! I got a lot of s**t for these mistakes of course, but it was still a fun time.

Up $1,200 at 1-2 5-card after work. 5/10 looked meh tonight, so played some bingo. Game was good, ran well in the big pots.

Lost most of what I made the other day in less than an hour at 5/10/25 (got hands with decent but not great equity, bad flops all four times). No AA/KK. Stemmed the bleeding at 1/3 and 2/5 afterwards, lost a little more. Nothing crazy, still murdering this month at $100/hr.

Put on my first training for volunteers yesterday, a little nerve-racking but got through it fine. Some nice feedback afterwards too.

Up around $600 5/10, down $200 5-card, up $350 2/5. 5/10 just GII flop w/ black AA v. loose V on Q93ddd and held against Td4s. 2/5 was a bunch of smaller pots here and there. Back to work!

An accused rapist was released from a maryland jail recently because of Corona concerns. He subsequently shot and killed his accuser. You're doing an admirable job helping the criminals. Keep up the good work. Staybwoke.

The folks we are helping are old, infirm, and otherwise not in good health. They pose no danger to society anymore.

How do they survive once they get out? Do they get jobs? Onto another topic have you thought about buying some silver?

Many of them will rely upon friends and family or government assistance, or a combination. Able-bodied people will presumably work, yes. Part of the process is preparing a release plan for them so they succeed. We’re not getting people out willy-nilly without a plan.

Silver? Why not gold? Heck, why not platinum?

Edit 2: stuck in some a—y 2/5 and they won’t open a must move 5/10....

Great run at 5/10 last night. Top set GII v. top two on Q-6-3dd in 3! pot (V 3! me light OTB), cracked KK with TT in srp on Q-T-3cc. Ended up $1,700 on the night (lost a little 2/5, made a little 1/3).

Ended up booking a small win yesterday, from 1/3 (AT v. KJ and QQ on KQJ), lost $200 5/10. Nothing too worthy of a report, just lots of marginal pots, not a whole lot of big hands.

Got kinda beat up at 5/10 today for a change. Oversetted on the flop twice in 4! Pots, one with JJ v KK and second time with KK v AA. Licking wounds at 1/3. -$1,850, biggest session loss. Of course I think I’m terrible and should have gotten away from both hands, but that’s only because I’m hard on myself and have super high expectations.

I really hope you're kidding about folding sets in 4-bet pots. Sorry about the loss, but let's not be ridiculous.
