Up $1,000 something in PLO5. AA held a lot. Except once when it didn’t against gutshot and bd pair draws. Lolz gotta love the droolers. 2/5 lost some. +$700 on the day. Didn’t wake up early enough to be at mgm for opening. Will see how lists are before deciding where to play. Up about $10k since casino opened. A new monthly record by far. Proud of myself for growing as a player and buying in deeper.

What did you think of MGM today?

IMO - MGM > Live

- The Plexiglass is better at MGM. Plus, I think MGM has better dealers and lighting.
The room was super clean as well. Hopefully MGM can keep the poker room and the bathrooms clean going forward.

Swingy session, up $650 5/10 (AKhh flopped nut flush, b/b/j), down $800 5/5 w/straddle PLO (raised and missed a lot, lost a freeroll AKT76ds v. KQ986 on KK6), up $800 2/5 (set cracked AA in 3! pot and and AA held AI pre v. JJ for $700). Nice to be back at MGM; as mentioned, plexiglass and table set up is better than Live's.

didnt know freerolls had 9 outs to dodge on turn and unless you boat the 10 or Ace has 9 again

It’s a freeroll because if I improve to A he is drawing dead and if T he has three outs to the Q. It’s not a huge equity spot by any means.

Edit: it’s actually a 1% freeroll. Lolz. I thought it was a little better.

are u high cuz he has way more equity than 1% to win the pot. if the turns a 2 he still has 9 outs on the river. your only freerolling if an ace come on the turn bruh which isnt even close to a freeroll

Well the heater sputtered yesterday. Down $1,300. All my AA l/rr didn’t pan out against the table maniac at five card and my final big hand in 3! pot (A5678dd on JT4dd) lost too (V had wrap plus bdfd plus top pair). I potted flop for $400 after ss jammed $30 and other deep V just called the ss. Got it in a 43 dog but meh still way +EV.

ps: the players are way worse at Live.

Up around $1,000 home mix game, -$180 2/5, a nice comeback from yesterday. Crazy 2/5 hand: reg raises fun gambooly chick's straddle, I 3! AJ SB to $140, she flats, reg just rips $700 eff., fold, she snaps. Board: A-4-6-8-2. He tables KK. She, A3! :O

What a session. Started at 2/5 where I GII AA v. KK and held. Game got bad so moved over to amazing looking 5/5/straddle PLO where I lost with a set and then with AA AI pre, moved back to 2/5 to rebuild. Rest of the session was reducing my losses, and I did starting with KK GII Q-high flop v. AQ. Game broke, got lucky and was at wealthy maniac gambooler's deep 1/3 game (he plays 5/10+) where raised KQo BTN, he 3! BB, I call, flop top two and GII v. AQ (?!) and hold. 4!/GII with AQ $300 eff. against same player and flop broadway, but end up chopping v. his ATo on KJTQT runout. Then 4! AKo v. him to $125, he calls, flop Q94hh (I have nothing), I put him in to deny equity (hopefully), he calls with T9o and I lose.

It was funny how terrorized most of the rest of the table was with what was going on (comments included "this is crazy"), but these were less experienced players who don't know how to get free money while they can. Side note: playing with these "VIPs" is a section in my forthcoming poker guide. Haven't released yet because (1) pandemic put live poker on hold, although that is slowly changing - probably not best time to release product about live poker; and (2) still need to reformat. Anyone who is nevertheless interested in the manuscript can PM me about details.

Ended down just $200 on the day, a blessing given I was stuck closer to $1k after 5/5 PLO.

Lost $500 today, mainly from AA cracked by 87cc AI pre for $500 at 2/5. (Lol love this game!) Many other small pots lost too in various unmentionable ways. A little 5/10 to cap off the night went below average too. Still grateful for all the run good over the past month.

Some photos for your viewing pleasure:

Lost most of the pots I played, down $100 5-card, $150 home game. Not a whole lot to report this time. Home game got action at some point but overall meh this time. Ran pretty poorly in 5-card rounds at home game, accounting for most of my losses by far (e.g., top two in 3! pot plus AA lost to bare T-high flush draw on both runouts, l/rr AA lost to runner runner straight against action player which improved me to kings up, his river jam was for less than 1/3 pot and I had a straight blocker, open AQJ97ds in blind raised/straddled pot to $150, lost that one too). Yawn. I tire of this game when I run below EV.

Lost $150 2/5, $70 1/3, $320 5/10. Basically mostly break-even except AA cracked AI pre for $450 against A7hh at 1/3. LOL - love this game!

Got a new law job, full-time - with benefits! Will see what this does to my poker journey....

Limit mix home game tonight.

Congrats on the job Dumbo! Full time job with benefits (so long as you are happy enough with the hours and conditions) with poker as simply a fun side hobby (that may or may not make a little money) is the nut line, imo.

Thanks! It's rather good timing as my latest hot streak has started to wind down and I am again fighting an uphill battle against variance. Good time for a change of pace.

I spoke with my new "supervisor" today (someone I've known for a long time, so it's strange to think of him as a superior) and this will be a fulfilling project. It's a project to get people out of prison early due to health concerns - COVID-related and otherwise - and other reasons. I'll be the point person for volunteer attorneys and others. Super great development, a long time in the making. Very happy.

Haven't posted a graph in a while. Here's two views:

Congrats on the job, Dumbo! Sounds like it's something you can really sink your teeth into, too, not just a paycheck.

Short sessions bookended a conference call, up $400 1/3, $650 5-card, then down $200 home game (open 98hh, flop 67Tr, bet, turn 6h bringing bdsfd, bet, river Q, I bet $95 into $130, V tank calls with 77 (?!) and apologizes for the nit roll because I must have TT).

It's 9:30 a.m. and I am starting my day!

Short one-hour 2/5 session last night after lots of on-boarding paperwork for new job and conference call and catching up with a friend. Three more meetings today. Welcome to office work life? At least it's all virtual, for now.

Flopped a couple small sets in limped pots, played a little pot control this time deep-stacked and didn't go ape otf. Lost value not fast-playing but that's the trade off I made for not getting stacked otf set over set $800 effective in a limped pot. I suppose I could raise fold, but that's a disaster if V shows up with top two or a combo draw. Instead I called IP and evaluated turns (both of which checked to me on bricks, giving me the green light that my hand was good).

Capped off a long but productive day with a little poker. Started at 2/5 where lost a few pots, then 5/10 must-move turned into 5/10/25 main game which I didn't stay in for long before catching up with a friend over sushi and ending the night with some 1/3. Up just under $300 on the day.

Got some work done while waiting for a table yesterday. Played a little of everything (hold 'em only). 2/5 didn't go so well - flatted KcKd against a SB 3! and GII ott on Qs-8s-5-9s and lost on 2s river against V's AsQh. Oh well. -$600. Ran it up $1,050 at 5/10 and made $400 something on the day. Been working lately on exploiting more and adjusting to Vs' tendencies. Going well so far.

Didn't get a single premium all day, my two sets of jacks were no good against a straight and a flush, got bluffed off of aces up on a flushing/straightening river, blinding down for 10 hours, all made for a $900 loss. On the bright side, I did make a correct hero call with A-high HU at 5/10 (not a huge pot, but still). Back to work now!
