For a little update. Also couple posts in MD Live casino and cardroom poker thread. I'm too lazy to retype here. Up $250 or so between the two sessions. And yes I flopped multiple sets. Still got it!

Played way too long the other night had had a rough day following, but now well-rested. Go me x100!

Lol, isn't the "cough and sneeze into your elbow" diagram above the classic hand-on-the-shoulder grinder pose?

I love it!

J/k. The glass takes a little while getting used to, but you do get used to it. (Kinda like everything in life.) The masks I was already accustomed to seeing. Apparently new glass installed end of the week, so here's hoping for a more ergonomic system. Right now 4,5,6 seats are like sardines compared to the rest of the table. All I know is, I hope we never go back to 9-handed! As I found when I started playing 8-handed PLO, having more space and fewer players is both more comfortable and speeds up play.

Lost $500 2/5 - other regs flopped sets, but not me. Instead, got two of my OPs cracked (set and straight). Won $100 PLO5 - GII 56678ds v. TTK97 on T-3-4 with one bdfd and scooped both runouts!

Played omaha exclusively today, lost $850 in 4 hours. One misplay cost me at least $65 if not $200 (flatted nut straight on 8JQdd, flatted again on brick turn - should have jammed - then repped flush without blocker on flushing river, and V X/called OOP with a decent flush). The others were just getting it in spots and losing them all:

AAJJ3ds on J-7-6ss against sd plus nfd, lost both runouts in 3! pot;

AJ886hh on 5-7-Jhh (tp, ndf, oesd, plus set outs) lost to J7 with no redraw on both runouts;

QQTT8ds lost to OESD plus bdfd turned fd on Txx. Basically lost my equity favorite spots and my flips. Bleh.

Made a second and third in free poker afterwards, a small consolation. Lots both AI flips there too!

Playing deep PLO5 for a change bought in $1,000 cap...! So far playing well. No tough spots. Not running hot largely card dead. Still good practice. Oh and the degeneracy here is legendary. Like peeps keeping seats locked up not playing while asking for loans. Lots of sickos.

I had a good dream last night that I was marveling to a bunch of other players how much I enjoyed playing high stakes poker for a living. Heh. Maybe one day.

Played long, "deep-stacked" omaha session, basically broke even. Never +/- more than $100. No deep GII spots unfortunately. Hugely card dead. I might have played a couple hands per dealer on average. Stacked the table maniac a couple times with AA (l/rr pre and jammed flop first time, and boat over boat second time).

One cool hand: flat AAKJ5 in MP over EP raise, flop AQ9, checks to me, $80 into $100 (a little discount - could have bet less even - given the strength of my hand and few opposing continues for larger sizing), only table maniac calls. Turn: 9. X/x. As soon as I check turn, V blind jams river and I beat him into the pot. He seems defeated and I show, he mucks Q9 face up.

Left for 5/10 as the table vibe at my PLO game was very mediocre compared to the must move where everyone was laughing and having fun. Our table vibe was quite depressing. Plus I was getting bored being so card dead.

5/10 actually went well, ended up $650 there in a few hours. Bought in short, then added on when I realized the table was quite soft. 88 held five ways in straddled pot, I opened $75 UTG1, four callers, flop 974, turn 9h bringing bdfd, I $80 into $400 because lol I don't know bet sizing, everyone calls, river Qd, everyone checks and MHIG. Had some good banter with some other MGM regs, too. Always nice to see familiar faces. I'm glad they are well.

Around 3:00 a.m. I called it a night. Not repeating my mistake from the other night when I played until 7:30 and messed up my sleep terribly. That was awful. Got a good 9 hours, even though slightly behind schedule today. No biggie.

This period had given me time to reflect more. I like to think the ups and downs of my mental illness prepare me rather well for the swings of poker. (Though the latter pale in comparison to the former.) Everything that has transpired over the past few months, including my setback, have given me a renewed appreciation for the joy of living a happy and healthy life surrounded by family and friends. A little downswing in poker (or even a big one, I suspect) won't impact me as it might have earlier this year. Still, let's run good!

Just got called a ****** repeatedly as I was walking to the bathroom by same guy from a few months ago. I believe he is banned now. Not sure for how long. Card dead again at plo5. Off to fun home game with some mgm regs soon.

Home game went well after card dead at PLO5 (-$200). Made $700 at well-run, professional home game with $5 bring in and $10-$20 straddles. It was kinda apparent that most of the people were not used to playing higher stakes and my 5/10/PLO experience paid off in the bigger straddled pots.

One fun hand I played against a good 1/3 reg: I $30 AKo BTN over several limps, he $125 SB, I call. HU. Flop: 9-T-Jr. He $85, I $225, he says "this is always a set" and tank folds. I show and he claims he folded a chop. (I secretly think he had an OP.) This flop is better for me in theory - I think I have more sets and straights - given this player is probably quite snug 3! out of the SB. I took a calculated risk and it worked!

Ran KK into AA pre once and lost my first bullet, but made it all back and then some. (I $15 EP, SB $60, I $210, he jammed $600. I tank called...this is a legit spot given table image and positions where there is a good argument for a fold.) Oh, and the game is great, best of all - no rake!

Won about $700 over 12 hours. Could have been double that but at 2/5 after flopping multiple sets back to back I lost AQcc v. 55 on A-T-5cc in single-raised pot, AI otf for $275 eff. I had just beat V in a 3! pot with JJ against his AK when he triple-barreled on 68958. This player had no 7s in his 3! range and his $80 turn bet stunk to high heaven, especially when I could have plenty of 7x and sets. His OPs should slow down ott. He bet 1/3 pot river which I snapped off. I thought that hand dynamic might have tilted him a little when he jammed with his set over my c/r in the AQcc hand.

PLO5 was just quad 5s against aces full on 558AT when I donked turn $30 into $100 ott when flop checked through, tight BTN raised to $100, I flat OOP, river T, I x, he $100 again, I CRAI $450, he tanks for like 7 minutes (kudos) and calls after tabling AAAKJ.

Flopped quad aces at 1/3 against clueless player, think I may have lost value: AA5, x/x, J ott, $7 into $23, call, river 2. X, $17, call. I was torn because it's hard to have much other than Jx so I think I sized appropriately to target that sort of hand. Polarized sizing better? The V literally got up from the table to get a good look at me (plexiglass barriers inhibit certain seats from seeing each other well) and exclaimed, "Daaaaaamn!?". It was pretty funny.

Also at 2/5, lost CO open with KK v. 3! out of BB on A-x-x (flatting is fine once in a while this deep IMO - $1,700 eff.), I called once otf and folded to sizable turn bet. Missed a front door flush that came in at 1/3 near the end of the night and called a $50 river bet (1/3 pot) with top pair; called it shortly thereafter.

Also just general life planning, but considering moving into a place with poker peeps near MGM. Would be a big change.

Ran hot at PLO5, hitting big royal freeroll, but not as hot at 2/5/10. Broke even after being up $1,200. Annoying result. May have misplayed a hand at NLHE raising 77, flop 567, I bet, raise to $125, cold call, I flat flop $800 eff. Turn 3. Fun flatter takes lead and $275, I flat and fold to $500 jam on 2 river. :/

Up $1,000 or so, some from 2/5 and plo5. Too tired for details. Honestly nothing that memorable. Had a great time iso-ing and trying to stack-a-donk for the better part of 2/5. The hunt was on!

Second iteration of dalers' home game was a "pro bono" endeavor last night. Not a great game by any means, but supported the hosts during the shutdown. Played mixed games, and turns out I am getting good at Razz! Sleven, on the other hand.... -$130 overall. Couldn't get anything going, wasn't paid off on big hands. But shorter session too, so got to bed relatively early for a change.

Got KK a bunch at 5/10, made $1,700 there, and a little more at PLO5. Good day! Dude who called me a f***** again the other day and probably got into trouble for it cashed out when I did tonight, twice in a row now. Creepy.... May be a coincidence, but something to keep an eye on.

A bit of a break-even stretch the past couple sessions. Hosted a going away dinner/home game for a good friend. Played mixed games (something I am increasingly a fan of). A very nice send-off. Will miss her.

Card dead at 5/10, got 3! a bunch when I was not particularly strong - annoying, especially since I was iso-ing a target's BB all three times. Also missed out on two large pots over the past couple sessions, incorrectly folding TT to a light 3! pre (flopped middle set) and also folding JJ663 in omaha at a crazy action table to a small raise; top set JJJ would have held (somehow) in a four-way AI. Gotta remember that I can only make what I believe is the right decision and then live with (or ignore) the results. Plus, those hands could have turned out very differently on various flops/runouts. It's one long session anyway.

5/10 was good, but didn't get involved a whole lot with the fun players and just slowly bled down, calling a few raises with PPs and whiffing. The only spot I did get involved with wanted to run it twice when I flopped middle set on 79Tdd against K8o and we chopped. Made a bunch at 5-card though, so up $600 something on the day. Notable hands: raise AcQcJhTh3 and flop JT4cc, turn Kd, river 2c. I get full double from K9cc. Also, raise KdKc9c7d3 and flop Ac-Jc-4d, checks through multiway, turn Ks, ss jams $100, I call, re-jam $400, I call and scoop v. two QTs on Tc river. Ahh...to run good again.

Tried to bluff the wrong player it turns out (had never played with him) with KKKQTccss on Ac-Qc-9d-3h-Ts runout, raised his river donk, he called with a set of 9s. It was a good bluff in theory (I got a nod of approval from a visiting pro), but I chose the wrong V to use it against. I guess that's always a risk when playing against unknowns.

RAN WELL AT PLO5 AGAIN, SCOOPED AA V. AA AI PRE WITH ANOTHER PRETTY DEEP STACK FOR A $1,500 PROFIT. EXCUSE THE CAPS - CAPS LOCK ON. TOO LAZY/TIRED TO RETYPE.

Up just under $300 in an underwhelming session of 5-card. No big spots to speak of. Schedule back on track, which is good because I have real work deadlines to take care of. Boy is it hot outside!

Idea for eventual baller home game: "Dumbo's donkey dungeon," complete with re-eyed demon Dumbo chips. Thanks to friend Jeff for the idea.

At 5/10 ran KK into AA 5-handed (V ran it once), came back out of the hole and then some, then bled down a little and ended up a little. Towards end of session V was AI again with his buddy SB v. BB and ran it twice (this time he had TT). Lol....

Up $520 in home game though, so nice profit. Good hands: iso A7dd in btn straddle, rec limp/calls, HU: J-7-4dd, he donks, I ship $250, he calls and I win on 7-2 runout against Jx. Then in omaha iso KQQThhcc and fun player calls, flop Ac-7h-4h, he x/c, turn Tc, I pot, he calls river beautiful 9c, he x/folds. I also GII bad with top two against top set in omaha on A-T-4cc (unblocking the flush draw, but against this V I could find a fold button, especially since he 3! pre). Those are the highlights. Lots of fun banter tonight too, with a couple new faces this time. Good times - and no rake!

All my sets got cracked, my one AI pre lost as a 60/40 fav, ended down $550 PLO, but up $1,000 in 1/3 and (mainly) 2/5, so not a bad session by any means. Overflushed a visiting NY pro with A8hh v. XhYh on 9h6h5h fairly deep (AI ott), then won smaller pots here and there.

Don't want to jinx it, but as of now I have beat my monthly record again in only three weeks (if you count month as in four weeks, not calendar month)! And that's without promo money. Definitely attribute this to running good but also buying in deeper and playing bigger games. Good progress.

Long lists at MD Live so headed to nearby dealer game where good times were had. I lost $250, not getting hands, and then folded KK pre to a 4! jam UTG v. UTG1 ($10-->$50-->$300) from a player who always had it when he was all in all session. I also had PTSD because I had run KK into AA three times over the past week in a very similar fashion. I honestly thought it was a marginal spot. Turns out this player is crazy because he flipped over J9dd before saying "you're probably always good against me." My buddy said he thought I was going to snap call when he saw what I had as I was tanking. Apparently he has more history than I do with this V. (Plus, PTSD!) One of the dealers asked if I was depressed. Lol!

Made it back and a little more at 2/5 once list died down, up around $100 on the day. MGM opens tomorrow morning. I will probably be there an hour early to try to get on a table.
