Didn't spew last session, but did make a mistake not betting the nut flush after raising flop with A3ss on 2-5-Qss and getting Ks turn. I wanted to CRAI due to stack sizes and V probably strong range that should bet turn, but sadly V didn't bite. A little unconventional but it cost me as the river brought a four flush and killed my action. Flopped a couple sets too, didn't get paid like I used to. These 2/5 games these days....

Never felt sadder to stack someone...ever. Father, immobilized in a wheelchair, with daughter by his side assisting him put out his bets....

Like, poker gods, did you seriously have to deal me aces full against HIM?!

Up close to $1,200 last night, good change of pace, ran well, good hands, hit flops, coolered the elderly wheelchair-bound, the usual. Open AA, called by V, flop TT5dd. Cbet, raised small, call, turn Ad. X/$50, I c/r to $150, V calls. River: J. Jam $350 eff. or so, snap call. Lost with 88 in straddled pot against a sticky Q9s on 336r flop, 9 ott, made a lot more with JJ in another straddled pot on T-7-5-7-8, almost raised for value river (after checking turn) to 1/3 pot $125 lead and call. Those were the biggest hands.

Abysmal night of poker. At 2/5, lost AK v QQ AIPF against short stack. Then lost AA v KQo 4! pot on JT4 all in flop. Lost QQ twice at 5/10, once against T9o on JT3cc7T brick draws I called down, last bet was 1/2 pot. 3! QQ SB second time and crap flop and turn, both checked through, bet small river and folded to a raise on AK2A7 or something like that. Fml. -$1,800 now heading home soon.

Where do you find these people that go AI flop with Q-high? Or call your 4b with KQo? Esp at 2/5 at MGM? Don't even see that at 1/3 in Cali and haven't since 2009.

It can be an oasis! But my god how poorly I am running lately in that oasis. I seem to have found the one spot of quick sand.

At MD Live for a change, grinding 1/3 where this all started. Last night I was turning my overpair into a bluff when the front door flush got there otr; today I am witnessing a bunch of young 20-somethings without a clue check it down until they have two pair or better.

So much for changing venues...down $400 today. Just utter garbage session in all ways. Not paid with big hands, fold big ones pre, the usual bad timing. Mix in a missed draw and a tricky spot with JJ in 3! pot at 1/3 (T92hh flop V jams $135 eff. over my $25 cbet), another loss. Biggest hands were bottom two and trips in straddled or single raised pots folded to large raises otf both times. Non-nutted situations, not going broke multi-way.

I mean, complete in BB with 74o in straddle, flop Q-7-4ss, bet $35 into $50, called, tight MP limper raises to $120?? $450 eff. Call small raise with A7s in BB, flop AA8r, SB donks $15 into $75, I call next to act, EP limp/caller (tight image) raises to $75. $400 eff. Wwyd? JJ on T-9-2hh, I 3! pre, and he ships over my cbet; against V's range of Tx, nfds+overs, sets/2p, slowplayed OPs has between 17% and 41% equity. Wanna gamble, at a nitty 1/3 game?

You say this game messes with your head but let me know if you think these spots are clear cut in a nitty game.

Welp, first hand at 5-card open ds AA with an 8 and flop top set on rainbow flop A79 only for the straight which I blocked to get there ott. Didn’t find the correct fold against range of straights and smaller sets/2p for what was effectively a 1/2 pot river bet -$300. Dinner break now.

Generally, I'd say "stop calling raises OOP with marginal (or worse) hands OOP in a nitty game. Both of those BB hands are folds pre in a nitty game, imo. More deets in your LLSNL thread.

J depends on whether we have Jh, imo.

Ended down $200 on the night, won a little in a short 5/10 session where I was not wanted so I just left once people started clamoring for the straddle. Made back some some at 2/5 after that to make up for the top set situation at 5-card earlier.

Garick: thanks. Jh, sure I get that, only thing is Jh doesn't block his most logical flush draws (AKhh, AQhh, AThh). It's "meh" either way if you are deciding based on blockers.

^We’d rather have the Jh on the flop because our equity is higher.

If this were the turn, then you’d not want to have it because of blockers.

If it comes in on the river you go back to wanting to have it because of blockers as well.

Ex: flop 10 9 2 (you want Jh)

turn 10 9 2 3 (you don’t want it)

river 10 9 2 3 6 (you want it)

I’d call here with or without it, on 10-9-2hh in a 3-bet pot. If V’s super nitty, I wouldn’t 3-bet in the first place.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

A nice little win today to cap off the weekend, up $300 or so, mostly from 2/5. Some bleeding down at PLO5, some rungood at 2/5. Nothing to report really, made a couple disciplined lay downs at 5-card (A3 on 533 and A8 with Q-high spade flush draw on A-8-5ss) facing a pot-sized bet both times. 2/5 QQ held v. 88 in 3! pot on A-high flop, got one street of value post-flop, maybe could have found a second barrel otr after betting turn, would have been a little thin. Anyway, happy to book a win.

I’m beginning to wonder whether I’m not putting in enough volume with the job to overcome variance as well as I used to. I’m probably down to 30 hours a week or so. Tonight variance took the form of being card dead and missing with all my PPs.

Also, I’m probably not going to chop in the blinds anymore since I see so few hands as it is nowadays. When you wake up with QQ and AK folded to you in the SB within an hour....

It's all 7-handed nowadays. I think we were 5- or 6-handed when we chopped.

Be warned: If you don’t chop, people will like you less. My first try at “I play” was met with scowls from the dealer and a snide remark from the SB (“I don’t waste people’s time.”).

Down $100 or so, no big hands, missed flops in 5-card, a little at 1/3 with JT on Q8499 bet/called small river raise. I thought V was bad enough to raise a bare 9. He was.

Up over $100 or so, 3!s weren't called at 2/5, won a big pot at 5-card going a little ape preflop with KJT87ds multiway and scooped, up $570 there, but down almost $400 at 2/5, missing a lot, exceptionally card dead, and not getting paid with my relatively few monsters. Par for the course lately. YAWN.

New month at least. Happy October! (Holy smokes, it's October!)
