A short update to a goal in the post above - I'm at about 2/3 of the number of hands.

I started the goal extremely well, but had a huge downswing yesterday and today - didn't catch a single draw, KK < AA in AIpre (ran it twice, flopped a set in the first one, lost by a bd flush), AA < KK pre, KK < AK pre... I suppose I'm pretty close to being breakeven (+/- 2BI, I'd say) for the last 6k hands. Not good, but I'll continue

I did fail the part where I don't mind the results - when the downswing came, my mood dropped a bit. Played good game (almost all huge losses were bad beats or coolers anyway) until calling a river shove with two pair on a draw-heavy board. That was the last hand, I needed to chill a bit.

Not on my laptop now so I can't post any HH's, I'll report when I finish the 10k goal. I can guarantee the graph will be swingy af

NL5z - 20k hand report

I'm running so bad in all-ins it's not even funny. 6 BI's under EV on 20k hands. Is that usual?

Anyway, 20k hand graph, 6bb/100, 9EVbb/100:

Although it's visible from here, let's separate the last 10k hands (from the not-looking-at-graph challenge ):

Just in the last session, went all-in pre with AA v KK, ran it twice, K came on the second board. No A's on any of them. Yay.

Also, this cooler (lol-minraise at river, missclicked when trying to pull the slider)... In hindsight, leading the river was probably not the smartest play, but, as played, it was b/f?

I had a 3BI downswing this afternoon. Redline went vertically downward, folded a lot, made some stupid calls... Didn't even plan to play tonight, but felt I was ready for another session.

Then this **** below happens. I seriously don't know what to say other than I'm a tilting fish.

2 steps forward, 18 steps backward. All the fu#%!ng time. And, to bring things into perspective, just minutes before this hand, I sucked out KK > AA AIpre, it could have and should have been much worse.

And this stuff happens to me too often, I'd say. I either have upswings or downswings, rarely a huge non-turbulent period...

To add to the above - I tend to get obsessed with winrate, stats, EV, blahblah - in the short run. And yes, I know about the illogicality of that, but sometimes I can't help it...

And after all, my goal should be only to put in quality volume and get out of NL5z when I'm confident (and rolled properly) - which could have even happened already if not for stupid mistakes.

Now I look at stats, I see 4bb/100 and think to myself, how did this become this bad so fast? (And now it's actually me who's guilty, and not the bad AIEV run.) Which shouldn't matter at all because I am winning, after all, the sample is lolish and the long-term is the only important thing. Oh, well...

As 10k challenge worked pretty well, I'll do another one, shorter this time:

not sure how you do it. but maybe try to split your sessions. dont make 1 or 2 huge sessions.. rather make 1k Hands ... break .... 1 k Hands... break. and only start again if you feel like playing poker!

Stupid me, I never check "Show results" on the converter. Will do that in the future

(As for now, you can still see all the results by clicking the Replayer tab above the HH.)

Just had a 500-hand session, took about an hour (a few long-lasting hands), I think I'm about 3 BI's up (or a bit less, didn't check, but I can assume considering final stack sizes), so it went excellent.

H3: Damn minraise again, wanted to raise enough to put shorty AI. He did the job for me, though

Should I have bet smaller on the river? I was hoping to get a call from any king, or even AA (it was possible due to the line he took) - yes, it was for almost 200 bb, but with the potsize being perfect for a shove, the line seemed reasonable - if he's calling 100 bb's, he's probably also calling 200 here.

So far, so good, had two nice sessions in the afternoon and a really nice one that ended being breakevenish, although it could've (should've ) been pretty great results-wise...

The reason was this hand ... The sizings are like this due to him being short (any advice will be gladly accepted, tho' ), and otf I was shoving pretty much any board except extremely wet ones (could've adjusted 3bet sizing pre to make it look more natural, though, but then the 3bet would be too big). I wasn't afraid of AK/KK as shorties usually stack off with them pre.

Had a lot of RL obligations so I didn't have time to put decent volume in this week.

                Last 5k hands:

Had one spew and KK < JJ AIpre in the last ~300 hands so that dropped the winrate for the challenge to 7.5bb/100.

Not bad, although there was definitely some places that were supposed to be played better. Also gave and received a few coolers, nothing really special.

No hands today, I'm pretty tired now

BR is at ~$191 because alongside the 2BI drop in the last few hands, I cleared a Stellar Reward so it kind of made up for that.

First, a technical info: I bought HM2 a few days ago (worth every cent, I believe), and I also had $20 left in my Skrill account with nothing to spend it on, so I deposited them on Stars. The main reason is that I was still eligible for the stars600 bonus, and $20 worth of rb in these stakes will come in handy.

Anyway, had a nice session right now:

Vs nitfish who played 5/4 over ~80 hands, his range was AA-KK only here and of course he would call. I didn't like the third heart OTT, but it was still a fistpump shove.

H2: The hand where i shamelessly sucked out... I was thinking about the call because I know that most of the time they have AA or KK there, I decided to go for it because it would be ******ed to fold after investing so much money and without a read that the guy will really have only AA/KK, only to see 12% change to 98% otf. Life is good sometimes

I'll have a 10BI shot at NL10z as BR is standing at $256. Not sure if starting today.

Anyway, 30k hands at NL5z look like this:

                      6.84bb/100, 6.18EVbb/100.

Had a nice string of run-good + good handreading in the last 2-3 days, as seen on the graph.

Just one hand now... The river was pretty much a perfect card for me - he was betting the turn with either a 5 or a 2 and I just let him bluff his stack off. Ty, villain!

Well, this was a fun start

Set under set once, spewed with TPTK once. Made a set a decent amount of times, got zero value, AA/KK never got any action, etc.

After an almost hilarious rungood in the last two days at NL5z, it all turned around at a higher limit. Pretty much the same story as when I jumped from NL2z into NL5z

I'll give myself another shot at this limit tomorrow and if things go south again, I'll be back to grinding it up at NL5z. (Or maybe I'll even grind some more NL5z before jumping back into NL10z, I'll see about that tomorrow.)

I was feeling well so I went for another session. Another 1.5BI in the red

AK < AA AIpre and top set got rivered by a straight. Yay. This **** seems to happen every time i move up.

Anyway, lost 4.5BI and I've decided I have to readjust my BRM while everything is still under control.

10 NL shot in an image:

I have $210 now, a few bonuses incoming, etc. Back to grinding NL5z, I'll move up when I reach $300 (and take an occasional NL10z shot if I feel very confident in my game).

I just have to spam again because I feel an urge to put lolsample variance that hit me into perspective

So... Running like god the last 2 days at NL5z, playing good, hitting cards when I need it.

Play a session of NL10z, don't catch any draws, run set into bigger set twice.

Decided to go back to NL5z and then this happens:

People get crazy preflop when I have AA, I flop the nut-flush, beat a straight with a flush, etc... Like luck didn't hear about my NL10z adventures

And the funny thing is that I saw a bunch of the same guys that I regularly beat at NL5z in the NL10z pool so the game can't be that tougher.

I didn't play at all fri-sun... A bit of RL obligations and a bit of necessary rest, I think I've played poker for ~40 of 42 previous days.

Anyway, put in two 500-hands sessions right now, it went pretty well.

Just one hand... Villain spazzing with straight draws on a flushy board. Why not Other stack-winning hands were pretty standard: AA > AQs AIpre, AK > K9 on QJxTx board.

Gw man, good to see/read you get back to 5nl.

I play nitring, when I took my first shot at 5nl had a run of losing sessions then had to drop back down and get my mind back in before getting back to 5nl.

Just also think the AKss hand where you're so deep think that has to be a call of 3bet and play postflop being so deep are you really willing to lose your 200 bb stack in a race where you are probably behind or racing at just a slight underdog? IDK if thats right but just my thoughts, either way gl for your grind subbed for to hear how you go

Had a 2BI losing session yesterday, nothing special, just a bunch of draws that didn't get there and most of them were an instafold against fish potting with (probably) TPTK OTR.

Anyway, BR is standing at $250. In about 2.5k more hands, I'll clear the FPP bonus for $25 which I plan to buy.

As my college just started, goals for October will be mainly volume based and pretty mild, so to say.

I plan to go to NL10z when I reach $300 and have a 10BI shot there (maybe I take an occasional 1-2BI shot if I feel confident in my game). This is fully dependant on the all-round feeling for the game and the pool quality.

Reports will also be less often, obviously. I hope there will be good news and by the end of October I hope to at least become a reg (BR-wise) at NL10z.

One graph, my NL5z stint since jumping there from NL2z 3.5 weeks ago:

                          8bb/100 (6.5EVbb/100).

                          Obviously improved my flipping skills

These will definitely be a fail and I'll mark them as that already. Unexpected RL obligations have to have complete priority so grinding is taking a backseat for a moment. That doesn't really make me angry, though, because I enjoy my uni tasks a lot.

Poker hasn't been going really well as of late, also, had a time just for a session or two and ended up being roughly 3BI down in those at NL5z. I started to feel like I was a monkey that is clicking buttons so I stopped the session right there.

I'll report when I put in some decent hours.

Hey, guys! Reeeally long time, no see.

I'm a weird person. August-September, I played poker pretty much all but one or two days.

I stopped playing for a few days in October and like that - I didn't play at all. Simply wasn't feeling like it. I guess I have somewhat of an addictive mentality - I get addicted even to non-addictiveness of my activities.

Anyhow, played a 1k hand session at NL5z now. Before this, I last played more than a month ago, losing 2-3BI in a few sessions (2-3BI all together, of course), but not playing especially bad.

I understand variance and I completely understand that my returning to poker has nothing to do with this, but still.

                          Look at this AIEV-real$$ discrepancy:

QQ < TT pre (set), AA < 99 pre (turned set) and, my favourite, KK < 95 pre (he openshoved, turned 2 pair). I'm pretty sure that in my previous +100k hands, I never had even a remotely bad session luck-wise... and there had been plenty of those, too.

Ended up getting needed FPP's to buy $25 bonus - merely deleting the losses. Can't clear it, though, because I've lost my VIP status.

The funniest thing is I can't play a lot these days anyhow, exams are getting closer and closer. Just wanted to see if I remember my "settings" (and it seems that I do, didn't really end up in "what would I have done here a month ago" spots)... I ended the session feeling really happy - EVbb was up there, so was my game (except my flipping skills, lost those along the way ) so I hope that I'll be able to make a decent return in December.
