When you move up the steps take up your agro as people are a lot tighter then in step one especially early. It will eventually turn into all in or fold late but it is always nice to have extra chips when it comes that time.
+1!!
I totally agree with you won! I usually take 75-90% of my step 1's. I can get in to more detail if you want - but you hit the nail on head - PATIENCE in step 1!! I mean i almost autofold 1st thru 5th hand playing ONLY AA KK QQ or AK - not even JJ or def not worse - no suited AJ's etc...none of that - as you rarely are a big favorite with the all in push fests that happen the first several hands. Quite often you are like "fkkkk i would have taken out 4 of them had i called" but don't be results oriented and don't even worry - as you can see those donks who usually end up with 4000 the first hand with some crazy shht rarely even make the money!?? i mean they don't slow down - they then start doubling up one then another then another player - and one of those is going to be YOU unless you get unlucky! Then you can see the few that are basically sitting out - and you have some chips - and soon the idiot is gone - his 4grand stack that he could have folded to money is again spread out to a few of you that are left - then you notice the 2 or 3 that are on auto fold - you can just steal at will as blinds rise and it's worth it! don't raise too much (min raise works against these guys) - and if they play back - just fold and get their blind the next 5 orbits till they raise again with 2 big blinds - you call off (and usually have help) and take the guy out.
PATIENCE though is key - if you get unlucky just because you had AJ and the best hand (barely against the allinners) the first hand - then you're gone and that's that - just fold it man - they will give you those chips a few minutes later - when you get to call their maniac all in - in a heads up pot where you ARE a good favorite!
Then step two - I totally agree with wonstop here - ramp up your aggression (once you see that there are isn't an all in fest in step 2 also - usually there isn't). oh by the way - i instantly put a pokerchip (the red pokerchip tag) on the ALLIN with any two donks - thats my worst player note - then the fish is second for me - its for that guy who CALLS all in with K10 or KJ or A7 and such - and there are a LOT of them. So then you see at your step two table if there are any of the allin donkeys - if so - then just sit back - they will oblige again. Usually its' not too much in step two as much as step one though - and you can just play a good TAG style and do fine.
Step 3 - i've had some amazing step 3 tables that i could not believe were freeroll players - not always but sometimes you find them - i mean the kind of play i used to find in $20 buy in sngs on stars. - but not usually that good - here a good TAG style will do fine also - but remember - you have to WIN to get the money - so aggression is the key - get all the chips!
I'm liking this challenge.
I'm VERY glad you all have joined!! And thanks for GREAT advise and comments on styles - games - br management - all of that! I mean there is some really good stuff here!!!
I'd really like to see a few (or MORE) really make some money in this!! over a grand and on up!! would be awesome!! but even if we all made 500 or so from nothing would be very cool - i know though - someone will go on a tear and end up with 2 or 3 grand from NOTHING!!
Good luck!!!!
I only had a little while this morning to play - so my
DAY 6 (was it?? have to check above posts) - was pretty insignifacant. I ended day with:
7 step 2 tix
4 step 3 tix
and $3.43
Good luck to you all tonight and tomorrow - and see you tomorrow!!
