Not a huge goal but we'll see where this goes. I'm a regular MTT player on the USA sites (almost exclusively Bovada).

So my 'winter break' started last Thursday and goes until about January 20th.

I'll be playing every day for about 6-10 hours with a "hopeful" small vacation sometime if I hit a big score (a $2k+ cash is a big score for me).

During my first couple days I started out slow with losses around $300 or so. Tonight I hit a decent score with $650 for 2nd place in a $15 rebuy. With a number of small cashes included, it ended up being about a $1k night. My roll on Bv is a little over $1k and I plan to continue to focus on MTT's between $10-$30.

My best game honestly is the non-turbo MTT. And it feels like recently I've been doing well in the rebuys so I plan to play more of these. If we get up around $2k I'll start regging the $60 20k and $44 7k which were my favorites before I went on a rough downswing last summer. For now I can't play above $33 unfortunately.

Last winter break was pretty wild--I was up over $3k in the first week but then decided to sit on a $10/20 table with some Merge regs (Mark Lapino included) and my AA got cracked for $1.5k. I'm hoping to play smarter during this winter break.

pretty typical day. played about 30 MTT's in 8 hours and lost $50. worst moment was a FT bubble on a $25 -- JJ < AJ. BR is $975. I'm overall feeling ok though. These rebuys really brought me back to even. Got absolutely crushed on my more regular games. Hoping tomorrow I can NOT late register a bunch of games at the beginning of my session. this seemed to hurt.

Today was good but also kinda ****ty because the "power hour" promotion ended (they had a bunch of extra tournies running for a limited time), so my volume decreased a little bit.

The good news is that I got 2nd in a $10 for a lil less than $400 (screen shot below). I also final tabled another $10 tourney but got I think about 7th or something. My games in the $20-$30 range did not go well though. I also took a shot at the $60 20k and ran decent but then basically blinded out before the $. So we ended up winning about $200 or a lil over.
BR right now is at $1190.

Today was pretty weird. After about 3-4 hours I was down $280 and only had like 5 more small tourneys still playing. Got pretty lucky on some coin flips and got a big stack in this little $5 rebuy. Ended up getting 3rd in that (was big chip leader 3-handed so this actually sucked....1010<A9 and then my AJ ran into KK to bust). Also got 9th in a $25 for small cash. On the night we won like $50 but I'm not rly mad cuz I thought it was gunna be a big loss at first. Whatever, still doing ok for the challenge. BR is $1230

Pretty frustrating day. Lost all of our early games, including the $60 20k (won a satellite), $44 7k, and $33 5k. Our small games ran decent....went semi-deep in two $11's early on but didn't FT. Rebuys went average...cashed in one nothing much. Only redeeming aspect which still left us pretty negative was a 5th in a $12 turbo for $140. Lost about $140. BR is $1,100.

well today was about the most effed up day of the session. I was literally down like $600....played just about every MTT on the planet on the USA market. I'm sittin here bout to cash out and call it quits and I got one game left. One game. A little $10 rebuy and I'm sittin like decent like eff this. I was playing drunk and just like whatever this sucks.....Idk shyt is nuts. Click below. So we got back up to $1,250 on an honest miracle. Bout to take it easy tomorrow...these rebuys seem to be my thing.

Somewhat scary day that again somehow ended up with profit. I started out down $300 and busted all of the big games, leaving me with $1k and about 7 or so small tournaments. I ran good in a $15 super turbo and got 4th for about $200 which was nice. Had a couple other small cashes (7th in a $15 for like $100) so ended up w/ a profitable day. BR is currently at $1,400. A lil frustrated still though because even though I'm winning, I'm running bad on all the games over $33 which is killing our profit. It definitely seems like there are more bad players on the games I've been beating. Tomorrow I might try to avoid certain games where I've felt I don't have much of an edge.

We have about 30 days left to reach the goal of $4,000. Looking decent but a bit frustrating.

this and play more...stop worrying about bad beats, its part of the business just deal with them (i'm still learning how to take this advice, but it's solid advice)
always play to win if you can afford the variance

Yeah I think I should tone it down a little bit on the games at or above $33....I keep telling myself this and not doing it though. I usually don't get too mad/tilted on bad beats--but I do get a lil mad when I play a bunch of games and pretty much lose all of them (like last night at one point). Maybe right now I should try not to risk more than about $250 in one session.

I'll also add that sometimes I mix in a few SNG's when it's really late at night or right when I wake up (trying to focus on HUSNG's a bit...am about 60-65% I think over small sample of about 110 or something...ran really hot during first 40).

ANYWAY, thanks for the comments. I know this challenge is a lot smaller than most but this kind of money is a lot for me.

Another pretty frustrating day (broke even). One decent aspect about today is that we didn't take a shot at anything over $33 which helped. Ran pretty bad early as usual. Had a couple min-cashes and the like. FT'd the $10 2k rebuy again but went out in 5th which hurt. Want to mention the hand because it was somewhat interesting.

I had about 20 blinds 5-handed. Had a raiser from UTG (big stack) and I was BB, holding 88. I decided to just flat, planning to check jam any flop that didn't have an Ace or King. Flop came rag, rag, 9. I checked expecting a c-bet. He c-bet half pot so I jammed. He had A9. Correct play probably was to jam pre. My thought at the time, before I flat-called, was that he probably had an Ace, and would call my shove with just about any ace, so I thought flatting to see the flop texture seemed smart at the time...not sure. BR is $1396 so we broke even.

Fantastic... Such a lovely game isn't it? One final table in 2 days; one ninth place finish in two days is what I have to show. Well, we lost over $500 in the last 2 days playing the same way as always. What a great way to spend my winter break...10 days grinding 8 hours a day and absolutely nothing to show for it. I guess that's poker.

Taking a little break...things haven't worked out as hoped. We started out relatively strong and had continued growth after the initial cash...we danced around for a while basically but got up and down around $1400 which would have meant about $1k profit within the first 10 days. Then the downswing came...and we lost about $700 in 3 days. So working with a tiny profit margin so far and just hoping to rebuild.

So things obviously haven't gone as planned. I've spent the last 4 days or so trying grind back up. I've been grinding $7 and $14 triple ups and taking some shots on the bigger MTT's with the profits from the SNG's. Fortunately I've made about $300 on the triple ups but have missed in all of my MTT's. So yeah I have about an $800 roll which means that, since the first post, I'm down like $200. I'm basically going to continue this strategy and hope to hit. It's not looking very good to be honest.
