Looooong time reader and never made an account to post, BUT today that changes! I've been online/live poker for many years with far too many of them spent as a struggling losing -> breakeven player. I had a massive change to my game about 2.5 years ago with the help of amazing some amazing coaches/teams. I've since been able to climb from losing at 5NL and 10NL to crushing 100NL (last 2 years results below). My recent 200NL shot finally stuck with having an absolutely AMAZING past month sitting 200NL (pic also below). I am admittedly running extremely hot, but I am welcoming the positive variance with open arms.
The amount won over the past month is pretty overwhelming and I know the momentum probably won't last, but it has gotten me thinking: is it possible to become a pro? To provide some context, I am a full time working guy who dedicates most of his spare time to the game we all know and love. Due to my very fortunate salary I have never really considered going pro since I'd be hard pressed to match the hourly + benefits of my job. However, my success over the past month has really gotten me thinking and while chances are slim, I think there's a possibility. I'd also want to possibly leverage some other routes (mentorship, content, etc.) of income too.
Anyways, I'm not sure exactly where I want to take this blog, but the main goal is to document my potential transition to salary man -> poker pro. We'll see how I feel, but I'm thinking monthly or weekly (when it's an exciting week) updates to the results. I'm of course also open to discussion and sharing my insights or hand histories. I think my username might give it away, but I am a heavy user of MDA and I'm sure plenty of others on here are too. For the sake of protecting my edge's longevity I'll probably be reluctant to reveal certain details, but I will do my best to answer all questions. Thanks for following along guys!!!
