Me and 3 friends have relocated in order to grind on Pokerstars again. We've been at it for a little over a week now and decided making a goals thread would be beneficial to all.

Stars screen names:

ShiP ThA $$$
DFresh888
FreshsCrew
sukel21

My goals for 2013 are as follows:

1) Supernova Elite
2) $200,000 total profit post rakeback
3) Eat better/exercise more yada yada

Pretty simple. I'll probably grind out SNGs Mon-Fri take Saturdays off and grind MTTs most Sundays. Depends on how the games are to start the year. I might need to grind SNGs on Sundays for awhile to get myself ahead of VPP for SNE.

House Anthem for the year......

I drive back and forth everyday that I play as I have a family and kids back here. It's not too bad at all. Definitely get hassled more coming back into the U.S. than going into Canada. I haven't been sent to customs once going into Canada.

It has a basement, main floor, upstairs w 4 bedrooms and a loft. It's literally 2 mins from the tunnel, right next to the casino too. Pretty much the nut perfect spot.

ik youve been around forever greear, but why would you take saturdays of all days off? why not take off monday instead? must add up to a huge oppurtunity cost over the year by not playing on saturdays.

Maybe I should take this into consideration...Always figured the degree of softness on the weekends was exaggerated and over estimated.

Any threads on the topic?

IMO, saturday is the softest day for sngs and sunday is one of the reggiest but also has a ton of fish. Mid-HSMTT Saturday is super reggy and obviously sunday mtts are always nice.

I play $100-200 hts as my main game and once noon rolls around my time on a Sunday afternoon, almost EVERY $200 6m is 6regs deep

Monday IMO is also a soft day as everyone else takes off, so I usually grind on Monday and take Tuesday off....although Tuesday is an easy decision in my games because all the guys who grind $357 satties (to the 1k super tuesday) add in 100-200 6m hts to fill in, so we end up with extra regs those days

wow greear super jealous as im planning to do the same from chicago but wont be able to get out of here till march-april at the latest. pretty much between sarnia and windsor for me, not vacation type destinations obv but im going to work&make $$ so im not worried bout that. i have similiar questions as mcc as im gonna rent a house(need one with two larger dogs) and figure between 6 months rent upfront and buying the furniture i need(bed, couch, cheaper dinette set) cuz i cant show up with a uhaul at the border LOL its pretty much gonna cost me around 10g'z off the bat. would be nice to be able to split some of the cost with atleast one other person but none of my friends that play have played for a living and dont seem willing to go anyways so im gonna have to foot the bill on my own.

Lookin forward to reading this! Best of luck to ya, stay motivated and make dat $$

So jealous that you can live in the US but commute every day to grind on non-us sites, that's awesome. Best of luck in 2013.

I'm planning to be in Windsor between Jan - April. Would love to meet up with some fellow grinders at some point. Hopefully I won't run into any problems getting set up there.

Thats pretty sick that they let you cross back and forth so regularly without hassle. I'm in a similar spot with a wife (and kid on the way) and have been harassed many times. I'm talking about the Niagra Falls customs stop though. Now I just fly and haven't had a problem, doesn't cost much more anywho.

Do you tell customs the truth?

GL!

Yeah we tell them the truth. No point in lying. We use to get more of a hassle coming back into America than going into Canada (by hassle I just mean getting searched). Going to Canada they don't really say anything. Greear and I got sent to immigration the other day but the guy in the booth said that it just came up as a random search so he had to send us over. Once we went inside we told the guy what we were coming in for he asked how poker was treating us, told us about another guy that rents a hotel room to play poker and sent us on our way. We might have been in there for 2 minutes, maybe. They didn't look in the car at all.

And it seems like the last 2 weeks we haven't been messed with by US customs. Sometimes were gonna get checked that's just a fact but there's a few border patrol guys that have recognized me or have remembered dealing with my roommates when I tell them I rent a house to play. Most questions they ask seem like they ask just out of curiosity and I've even had a few guys hold up the line for a minute talking to me about poker.

I've read some ppls story about crossing and getting hassled or getting denied and it made me really nervous the first couple times crossing. But after a few time it was pretty obvious that crossing into Canada wasn't gonna be a big deal. We might be in the best spot to be crossing as we haven't ran into anybody on a power trip yet and they all seem to be pretty alright customs officers.

I used to cross the bridge a lot a few years ago and was constantly harassed. Even had my car torn apart one time (interior panels). They just threw them in my trunk and sent me on my way. Worst experience ever. Perhaps it was because i was 19 with long shaggy hair and a brand new car, but it was dreadful. Glad to see the power trip ***** have been replaced. What all did you need to get your ftp unfrozen?

We cross at the tunnel. I used to use the bridge when I was younger and would head to the casino until I used the tunnel one day and realized its way more lax imo. Won't ever use the bridge unless I have to.

To get back on FTP I sent an email with my lease agreement and license and 10 hrs later was emailed back that I was verified. It was really easy.

Amen. I am done with that bridge. It is much more convenient for me to cross at the bridge, but I think the people at the tunnel make it an easy decision to go that way instead.
