A little update about life and poker
The last time I posted was in my 2p2 blog prior to going to Manila for a live poker trip. Since then I have been back in Thailand grinding like a mofo online but ill use some time now between playing and studying to write a little update for me and for you.
Manila and Life
I had a sick time in Manila, I played sub 10 hours of live poker hahah. I did not really enjoy it that much but it was okay I guess. I made a few hundred dollars which I instantly degened away on drinking and other things...
Apart from partying with moz and rich (ginge poker) and a few of his friends we also went to scout out BGC in Manila to see if it was a viable option to grind there long term. Visas are much easier to obtain in the Philippines and its certainly a good fall back option. For the time being though we are probably locking in Thailand until the end of October. So the next visa run will be probably hiring a whip and driving to the border to get the next two months. It will be sick to see some other parts of Thailand and also party for a day or two in Krabi.
Since we got back its really been nothing but work work work. I had my birthday in July where we absolutely sent it, a week later we went to Bangkok, had some bottles and some adult. I also just met a bunch of other poker players who are all super nice guys. Part of this whole experience for me is the networking with likeminded individuals. Everyone I meet is super sound and I just love being balls deep in this journey now, the next year is going to be insane.
Poker
Poker has been going sick the last couple months, I am playing a lot and studying a lot and I just feel like things are clicking at a rapid pace. I am currently just playing volume on stars only. I am getting decent rake back also which is mandatory in this environment, so I think overall I am up around ~$7k in this sample with rake back. Okay its not massive money, but the progress is going to exponential from now on.
I am naturally super competitive and I am really starting to see my edge against pool, coupled with some of the sick work going on in the nachos CFP I see a clear path forward to becoming a crusher.
Of course there have been a few punty days, causing me to swing like crazy. But as time goes on and my experiences of playing full time professionally grows I am sure I will just have a stronger mental and technical game which should eliminate a decent amount of this volatility!
I am also learning a lot about myself in the mean time!
August to October
I doubt anything very interesting will come out in this blog between now and October. I am going to be grinding my balls off, studying like nuts and just trying to build some serious capital to take forward into next year. At the moment there might be a soft plan to go grind online somewhere else and play some live poker. So I am looking forward to that.
I am also insanely grateful for the people I have around me, particularly my best mate mozza who has helped me transition into this way of life as smooth as butter. I really cannot wait for the next 12 months its gonna be sick.
