In the dimly lit corners of online poker rooms and the hushed atmosphere of live casinos,
I find myself navigating the cards, not just as a player, but as someone on a quest for reinvention.

micro-stakes multi-table tournaments, where the stakes are modest, but the dreams are grand.

As an MTT enthusiast at the micro-stakes level, I’ve decided to embark on a new chapter in my poker journey.
No longer content with merely chasing the thrill of the river card, I’m on a mission to adhere to the elusive
discipline of bankroll management, a strategy often whispered about but seldom followed.

In the vibrant tapestry of life, I wear many hats—a father, a player, and currently, someone grappling with the complexities of existence.
A temporary break from the routine of daily work has gifted me the luxury of time, an opportunity I intend to seize to rekindle my passion for poker.

The allure of online MTTs beckons as I aim to build a bankroll that not only fuels my love for the game but potentially paves the way for a daring
dream to someday make a living doing what I love most. The cards may be my companions, but it’s the thrill of the unknown, the journey into the void,
that fuels my determination.

So, buckle up as I navigate the highs and lows of micro-stakes poker, share the tales of my struggles and triumphs at the felt, and explore the profound connection
between the cards and life itself. “Wagering in the Void” is more than a blog—it’s a journey of self-discovery, a testament to resilience, and a
commitment to reshaping the narrative of the cards and the hand life deals us.

"Navigating the Poker Maze: From $200 to $2K"

Greetings, fellow card aficionados! As we delve deeper into the labyrinth of Online tournament poker with "Wagering in the Void," it's time for a rendezvous
at the digital felt. Buckle up as we navigate the highs and lows, with a touch of satire and a pinch of reality.

Okay so Picture this: you're grinding out $3 MTTs, while your social feed gleefully bombards you with EPT and WSOP paradise updates. 5ks,10k Oh, the sweet
symphony of poker dreams and financial realities, Aspirations and pocket change.

Before we get into the Week 1 grind, My Study focus has been primarily 20BB as I fell it was an area where population and myself have some serious leaks.
Trying to develop a practical guide for navigating the tricky spots, especially when the stacks are on the smaller side. It's not about fancy moves,
it's about adopting a pragmatic mindset that makes every hand more manageable. So, poker buddies, get ready for the journey.
We're stepping into the micro-stakes world armed not just with a bankroll but with the beginnings of a practical strategy—a tool we will
fine-tune as the weeks go on to make our game a bit sharper.
The goal? A tantalizing $2K to dance at the $10 ABI tables.

This week, the majority of my hours weren't spent at the tables but in the hallowed halls of poker study. Armed with dedication to clocking in a minimum
of 7/8 hours per week, the pursuit of knowledge became my trusty sidekick. Enter Postflopizer, a recent addition to my arsenal, aiding in refining my strategies
They say the best players never stop learning, right?

As the virtual felt became a canvas for exploration, I immersed myself in the intricacies of Postflopizer. It's more than a tool,
it's a companion in the journey towards poker mastery. The simulations helping me paint a clearer picture of the game.

In this paradoxical poker realm, where every hand is a decision and every decision a potential turning point, my volume took a hit.
Life, with its school concerts and the impending holiday rush, nudged its way into the equation. The struggle to balance poker dreams with the practicalities
of Christmas prep and parenting was real.

Despite the low volume, a modest profit of $18.78 emerged from the virtual trenches. The battlefield saw its fair share of skirmishes, but we emerged with a small victory.
On the home front, my son took center stage in his school concert, a reminder that life's most precious moments often trump the virtual felt.

In the realm of MTTs and festive chaos, I juggled more than just chips. With Christmas around the corner, I attempted to wrangle the chaotic strings
of gift-wrapping and poker decisions simultaneously. Spoiler alert: one of them was more successful than the other.

As we wrap up this week in the poker maze, join me in the quest for $2K and the tales of balancing poker dreams with the chaos of reality. "Wagering in the Void" is more than a poker blog—it's a journey through the highs and lows, the bluffs and beats, and the delicate art of navigating life and poker, one hand at a time.

"Navigating the Ups and Downs of Poker, One Lost Flip at a Time"

In the latest chapter of my poker journey, the virtual felts turned into a battlefield, and the results?
Well, let's just say it was a weekend of utter chaos.
I got slaughtered from all angles, experiencing the cruel sting of defeat. But hey, in the midst of the storm, I managed to find some silver linings.

Despite the relentless beating, I held my ground and pushed through. The sheer determination to improve and learn fueled my drive,
leading me to play a whopping 52 tournaments—quite the jump from the previous week's 14. The grind was real, and the lessons, invaluable.
Upon reflection on this week's grind, one glaring realization surfaces—I need to sharpen my deep stack and out-of-position play.
It became evident that several spots left me feeling lost, and it's in these moments that most of my errors likely found their origin.
So, as the virtual felt resets for the next chapter, the mission is clear—work on the nuances of deep stack strategy and refine the approach to out-of-position play.
It's a commitment to evolving, an acknowledgment that growth is forged in the crucible of challenges.

Getting it in ahead but expecting to lose became the unfortunate theme. The coin flips turned into a cruel dance of uncertainty. It's the nature of the game—a rollercoaster
of emotions that tests resilience and fortitude. Amidst the chaos, a few stars shone in the darkness. The 18-man sit-n-gos on Stars became a sanctuary of success, providing a glimmer of hope.
Additionally, a modest cash on GG Poker added a touch of redemption to an otherwise challenging weekend.

In the background, a different battle unfolded. A struggle with sleep patterns. The pursuit of restful nights led me to reevaluate my medication.
A shift away from a groggy-inducing remedy marked a hopeful transition. Although sleep remained elusive, it's a transitional period until the new medication takes the reins.
The ebb and flow of sleepless nights and medication adjustments played a part in navigating the tumultuous seas of the virtual felt.
Yet, in the midst of the storm, the commitment to balance life and poker remained unwavering.

As the journey continues, I raise my virtual glass to the prospect of more refined strategies, improved sleep, and a steadfast commitment to balance.
Until the next hand is dealt, the poker saga unfolds, with each card revealing not just a game but a profound chapter in this ongoing narrative.

My thoughts on reviewing a misplayed hand prior to my current deep dive on these spots.

Pacific Poker - 500/1000 Ante 125 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BB): 17.19 BB
UTG: 58.73 BB
UTG+1: 7.19 BB
MP: 28.67 BB
MP+1: 22.56 BB
CO: 4.75 BB
BTN: 2.64 BB
SB: 61.83 BB

8 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.5 BB) Hero has 4 K

fold, fold, MP raises to 2 BB, fold, CO calls 2 BB, fold, fold, Hero calls 1 BB

Flop: (7.5 BB, 3 players) 4 7 6
Hero checks, MP bets 1 BB, CO calls 1 BB, Hero calls 1 BB

Turn: (10.5 BB, 3 players) J
Hero checks, MP bets 5.25 BB, fold, fold

MP wins 10.5 BB

- Opting for a clear defend in the face of an MP min-raise, I'll conveniently set aside the CO's 4bb flat call for post-flop considerations.
The board is notably favourable for our range, providing an opportunity to exploit segments of the villain's holdings that missed but still boast good equity against us.
Furthermore we can play aggressive on a a lot of turn cards. I'm also inclined to believe that the villain might exhibit a slight overfold in this scenario compared to Postflopizers suggestions.

When the turn completes the straight, the game plan shifts towards an aggressive betting approach, targeting a wide range of holdings with a substantial sizing.
The intention is to set up for a potential river jam. However, on a turn card of T or higher, the strategy pivots, incorporating more frequent checking and pure checking on an Ace.
Given the stack depth, we have to commit with a pair on most runouts due to the low SPR, with the exception being an Ace.

"Unwrapping Poker Presents: A Low-Volume Holiday Tale"

As the festive season unfolded, the poker tables witnessed a significant decrease in volume on my end. While I managed to pocket a few hundred euros playing live, it's crucial to note that this success doesn't directly align with our online aspirations, which I am keeping separate. However, the hiatus from extensive online grind didn't equate to an absence of dedication. I committed myself to studying, ensuring that the mental gears were still turning even if the chips weren't. Currently brushing up on my out of position play as it was an area I felt I was struggling.

The profit ledger for this period reveals a modest surplus of $6.50. Not groundbreaking, but every dollar counts I guess. Hopefully it is much bigger profits that lie ahead. With the holiday season behind us, the focus is now on revving up the satellite volume. Exciting live events are on the horizon in Ireland, and the goal is to replicate the success of last year's snagged Irish Open ticket.

Christmas, for me, was a quiet affair — no wild nights out, minimal drinking, a deliberate choice in consideration of my current circumstances. Sleep struggles and medication complexities persist, prompting a cautious approach to certain lifestyle choices. Amidst these challenges, the Nintendo Switch emerged as a surprising savior, serving as a portal to spirited tennis matches with my son. Despite the vast option of games, he found joy in this new obsession.

Looking ahead, the plan for January involves ramping up the volume. Exploring potential staking opportunities to venture into higher buy-ins online is also on the agenda. To those with experience, your suggestions are more than welcome. This journey is not just mine — it's a shared venture with a community of poker enthusiasts, and your insights can be invaluable.

Here's to a year ahead filled with increased volume, strategic growth, and perhaps a few more Irish Open tickets in the bag. If you have any staking suggestions or experiences to share, I'm all ears. Let the cards and conversations unfold in the new year.

"Battling the Variance: A Recap of 29 MTTs and New Year Resolutions"

In the last chapter of the this year, the virtual felt witnessed 29 tournaments unfold, each card dealt with anticipation, and each decision weighed with care. However, the poker gods seemed to have a different script, as the result bore the weight of an $18.41 loss.

As the year came to a close, the poker journey encounters the relentless force of variance. Despite feeling confident in my play, the all-ins proved to be a battleground where luck seemed to wear a relentless mask. The question lingers: when does the pendulum swing back? In the world of statistical probabilities, the quest for balance becomes a waiting game, a test of patience and resilience.

On the brighter side of the spectrum, the realm of study has become a beacon of brilliance. Videos consumed, notes revised—each session of learning contributes to the arsenal of skills. The commitment to improvement echoes through the corridors of dedicated study. A recent addition to the toolkit, signing up for DTO promises a deeper dive into the specifics, an effort to solidify the concepts etched in notes.

With the dawn of the new year, it's time to chart a course into the unknown. New Year Resolutions are in the making, goals that will be refined and published soon. The roadmap for the year ahead, a mix of aspirations and strategic plans, will be unveiled as the poker journey continues to evolve.

As the cards shuffle for the next chapter, the losses of the past are but stepping stones toward future victories. May the river flow favourably, and the variance gods reveal a gentler side.

"Navigating the Rollercoaster: A Modest Profit, Satellite grind, and the Temptation of Victory"

I'll keep it short this week as the enthusiasm was dwindling, but just to give an update. This week saw a modest profit, a mere $19.01 over 27 games. Playing satellites took up most of my volume overshadowing the MTTs. There's a unique kind of exhaustion that comes with the relentless twists of this game, especially when it feels like a swift kick in the nuts day after day.

On the study front, consistency has been the name of the game. Lately, the focus has shifted to nailing down more pre-flop spots. However, I seem to be stuck in a loop of ICM mistakes. It's like my brain takes an occasional vacation, leading to punts that border on self-sabotage.I play solid poker, but in the pursuit of victory, I sometimes forget the basics.

Perhaps it's the nature of the stakes, where a $12 cash doesn't exactly scream achievement. The temptation to veer from a careful grind to a dash for the victory becomes too enticing. It's a something worth addressing over the next few weeks. The journey continues, and with each hand, the lessons deepen.

Until the next hand is dealt,

“Navigating the Depths: A Journey Through Poker and Personal Challenges”

This blog entry is belated as a consequence of navigating the ebb and flow of motivation, a universal experience for poker players. Beyond the cards, beyond the wins and losses, lies a narrative of resilience, self-discovery, and a journey through the twists of mental health. The modest $8.68 loss over 28 games serves as a backdrop to a deeper exploration of personal challenges.

Recently single, the decision aimed at improving my mental stability adds a layer of vulnerability to the narrative. On top of all that, the shadows of a past incident loom large as I face a court date next week, an altercation from over 12 months ago. The incident, a blurred line between self-defense and a potential prison sentence, underscores the gravity of life's unexpected turns. In that moment, it was a choice between him or me, and now I am left to deal with the consequences, which seem pretty unfair considering the circumstance but such is life, I suppose.

This blog becomes a haven for processing these experiences, a space to unravel the threads of personal challenges and poker triumphs. As the virtual cards are dealt, they mirror the hands life deals, demanding resilience, adaptability, and introspection.

I have recently made the decision to start journaling. This comes as a response to spotting the new app on my iPhone, bringing accessibility and ease to the process. As I navigate through the ups and downs of poker, this blog becomes more than a recount of results; it's a tool for accountability. Setting the goal to write this entry was a step towards maintaining discipline and focus in the ever-evolving world of poker.

Accountability extends beyond the poker tables, and so, I contemplate integrating fitness and eating goals into this public journal. Will the act of sharing these goals enhance my commitment and consistency? That remains to be seen. As I embark on this journey of shared accountability, I'm reminded of a time when physical training held a prominent place in my routine.

In the past, training in MMA and BJJ was a daily ritual, a commitment to excellence that saw me stepping into the cage as an amateur fighter on Europe's biggest MMA promotion. The hours spent training, three a day, five days a week. Feel like a distant memory in the context of today's struggles to muster a simple walk.

This blog serves as a chronicle not only of poker results but also of personal challenges and triumphs. Join me as I navigate through the complexities of poker and life, finding motivation in each dealt card both on the felt and in life, hopefully, rekindling the spirit of discipline that once fueled my pursuits.

Until the next hand is dealt.

If you could un-invent something what would it be?

In the ever-evolving world of poker, we've witnessed technological strides that have left an indelible mark on the game. Among these innovations, poker solvers stand out as sophisticated tools, leveraging algorithms to optimize decision-making in the complex web of poker hands.

But let's take a moment to indulge in a hypothetical scenario: What if we could turn back the clock and un-invent poker solvers? How would poker unfold in 2024 without the guiding hand of these digital strategists?

Trusting Human Instinct and Skill
In a world devoid of solvers, players would find themselves leaning on their intrinsic skills, experience, and gut instincts to navigate the intricacies of the poker table. The psychological dance of reading opponents and orchestrating strategic bluffs would once again take center stage, ushering in a renaissance of human intuition.

A More Deliberate Evolution of Strategy
Poker solvers have been the accelerators of strategy evolution, swiftly solving intricate situations and uncovering optimal plays. Without their computational prowess, the journey toward refined strategies might unfold at a more leisurely pace, guided by the tried-and-true methods of trial and error, traditional approaches, and the collective wisdom of the poker community.

Celebrating Diverse Playing Styles
Solvers often converge on optimal strategies, leading to a more uniform playing style among skilled players. Without their influence, we might witness a flourishing array of playing styles, as poker enthusiasts craft strategies based on personal insights, preferences, and a touch of creative flair.

Elevating the Importance of Experience
In a solver-free environment, experience becomes the torchbearer of success. The ability to adapt, coupled with a deep understanding of various situations, would take center stage. Those who can adjust their strategies based on real-time observations would inevitably rise to the forefront.

A Departure from GTO Play
Solvers are synonymous with Game Theory Optimal (GTO) play, aiming to make a player's decisions unexploitable. In a world without solvers, the emphasis might shift away from GTO strategies, allowing players to focus on exploiting the unique tendencies of their opponents.

Unleashing Creativity
Rooted in mathematical algorithms, poker solvers can sometimes stifle creativity and unorthodox plays. Without these digital guides, players might find themselves free to experiment with unconventional strategies, breathing life into a more dynamic and unpredictable game.

In conclusion, a poker world without solvers invites us to rediscover the artistry of the game. It beckons us back to the roots, where human intuition, adaptability, and the sheer thrill of unpredictability reign supreme. While solvers have undoubtedly reshaped the landscape, perhaps there's an untapped reservoir of creativity waiting to be unleashed in their absence.Feel free to drop your insights into what you imagine a solver free poker would look like in 2024.

"Update: Securing Seats, Profits, and a Favorable Verdict"

Hey everyone,

It's been a minute since I last checked in here. Life's been keeping me on my toes, but I wanted to give you a quick update on how things have been going in the world of poker.

First off, poker has been treating me pretty well lately. I've managed to secure seats to both the Irish Open and the ESPT in Madrid later this month, which I'm super excited about. There's something special about playing live tournaments, and having the chance to compete in these prestigious events is a real thrill.

On top of that, I've been hitting the live streets and making some decent profits. There's nothing quite like the feeling of stacking chips after a well-played hand, and I've been fortunate to have some good runs lately.

Now, let's talk about the bankroll challenge. I have to admit, I haven't been as diligent about tracking my online play over the past month or so. Life gets busy, and sometimes it's easy to let things slip through the cracks. But I'm committed to getting back on track and giving it my all in the coming weeks.

On a personal note, I'm happy to report that my court case went in my favor. It's been a weight off my shoulders to have that resolved, and I'm grateful to be able to move forward with a clear conscience.

So that's where things stand at the moment. I'll be sure to keep you all updated on my progress, both on and off the felt. Thanks for following along on this journey with me – it means a lot to have your support.

Until next time,
