Hello all, full-time HUSNG midstakes reg here. Currently in the midst of bankroll building to take shots at $100 and $200s, and looking to improve my game to be able to take on the regs at that level.

Last year I studied just over 100 hours, reading, making equity calcs, sharpening my ranges etc. My hourly went from $27 in 2022 to $28.5 in 2023. However, my hours played were not great in either year, and my bankroll management was a large factor in my hourly not being higher. An example of this is in some months I'd need to take out chunks of my bankroll to pay bills, which means grinding $10 games for awhile, instead of $20 being my lowest level.

Recently it occurred to me that if I studied 30 hours of poker a month, I could probably make quite a lot of improvements, and that these improvements would compound. However, a couple days ago, I became inspired to try 60 hours of studying poker over a 30 day period and see what kind of hourly I'm able to make from that. I actually started this challenge on the 14th, and I plan to only post updates on this once a week.

At the end of 30 days I'll compare the hourly of the challenge against my hourly so far for 2024.

$36.09 is my hourly from Jan 1 - Feb 13 of this year.

My next update will be on Feb 20th.

Update after Week 1. I studied poker for 12.5 hours, which is 1.5 hours behind pace. I did a breakdown of the ranges that I think a couple of regs are using, and then drilled specific spots where I feel these players seem to derive their edge in games. I watched a bunch of RIO vids, took a bunch of notes, and now I have a list of various aspects of my game that I want to start working on. I've spent a bunch of time looking at spots to over bet, which, based on how regs seem to play against it, could be very promising.

Hours of poker played 28.5

It's not enough hours to go ahead and say all the studying is working, but my results have been very good. It's a lot higher than my hourly for the year so far.
