So, well, its been an extremely crazy day. Started at like 19.2m and went back and forth from 16m and 23m playing 3k/6k and 10k/20k. I ended the first big several hour session at 23m and was pretty happy. Then came back and ran it up to 27m and then proceeded to lose it back to 16m running 9m below EV at 3k/6k (15 buyins in about 2000 hands).

Clearly tilted by repeatedly getting sucked out on by the worst players in confirmed history I then went to sit at king of the hill 50k/100k and ran 16m up to 29m. After that, I won some back at 3k/6k, took a several hour break, and immediately lost 4m at 10k/20k to the sickest coolers in the first 5 hands to the same dumb player.

After that, I sold 20m for $82 and transferred it to my bank account. I didn't want to tilt it all off and not have anything to show for it. So now I have 6.9m left and am going to grind 1k/2k again until I have 15m and then I'll start 3k/6k again. It was so sick how insane today was. Just the worst things happening all the time. I'm glad I withdrew and didn't tilt it off and have to start over again.

From now on I don't think I'm going to post results like the way I have been doing. I'm just going to explain how the day went, what stakes I'm playing, how I'm running, how much I won for the day, what my bankroll is at, and what my plans are for the future. I think that will make this for a better thread anyway.

Bankroll: 6,911,831 ($27.65)

OKAY! NEW PLAN! I just tried to take a shot again today at 10k/20k after running my bankroll up to 13m at 1k/2k and 3k/6k and I dropped down to 7.8m after taking the shot. I believe my problem could be scared money (probably am in half-denial of it) and am going to gradually work my up using proper bankroll management.

I am at 7.8m which means I'm not even bankrolled for 1k/2k yet (I need 10m for that). So I'm going to have to start back at 300/600 and win 2.2m there before I can move up.

2.2m is about 37 buyins at 300/600 and assuming my winrate will be at least 5BB/100 (even though it will be much higher) getting to 1k/2k should take 37,000 hands. Setting a goal of playing at least 5,000 hands a day I should get done with it in about a week.

Once I'm at 10m, I'll play 1k/2k until I'm at 30m which means I'll need to win 20m or 100 buy-ins. Again, assuming a 5BB/100 winrate and at least 5,000 hands a day, that should take roughly 20 days.

So, at the very least, I should be playing 3k/6k with a 30m roll in one month. But, considering my previous results, it should take about less than half that or about two weeks.

So, in this two weeks, I'll be grinding from $31 to $120.

On another note, going from 30m to 100m playing 3k/6k to play 10k/20k will take at the least 120 days but I'll essentially be grinding $0.01/$0.02 (considering the price doesn't go down) and it'll be worth it when I get to 10k/20k as I won't be playing scared money anymore.

Good luck.

I´m trying to do something similar.

How do you manage to import the play money hands into your tracker?

Holdem Manager doesn´t import them even when I delete the play money bits in the hand histories.

I use poker tracker. I don't think it's supported with HM.

So do you know exactly what your hourly was?

I'd def keep > 3k chips next time you sell

You can do this from the US, right?

My hourly is probably between $1-$4 and that's not including the 10k/20k games that I'm striving for. Also, I'm not thinking of hourly. That's not really why I play. I just like the feeling of consistently winning at something and so whenever I start losing I just immediately quit or intensely start studying so I don't lose again. Which is what I've done with poker since I haven't given up yet.

When I sold, I took like 2 months off from poker and I didn't know when I was going to be able to come back (life was rough at the time and didn't have consistent internet) and so when life got stable again (in college as a transfer student 3rd year) I decided to start this challenge and make a little money.

I live in the U.S. and am only 20 minutes away from Canada (20 minutes away from real online poker!) and I would be playing there if I knew how to get into Canada but I don't know how. Do I need a passport?

Also, does anyone think it's likely for a play money pro (going on 8-9 years) to get staked in some kind of game? Like 1c/2c online or 2nl live?

Yes, you need a passport.

There are multiple threads in the staking forums you can submit an application to.

This happened to me once at 3k/6k, for almost the same number of BI. It make me feel pretty sick and unhappy, even for play money. I stopped playing the 6-max games after that because the variance sucked for me. I am more of a full-ring TAGnit anyhow.

Hey, I remember your play money thread and moving up in stakes. Whatever happened? Do you still play? Did you make it? Did you really get 1B play chips lol?

Thanks!

So, with my three days off from the challenge (I self-excluded myself for three days because was just too tilted and will come back tomorrow night) I've been thinking of how I'm going to do volume and here's what I came up with:

I wanted to play 5000 hands a day and so I figured that if one table brings me 70 hands per hour (from my poker tracker) that then if I do 12 tables at a time I can knock out 5000 hands in just 6 hours (5000/840). So I'm going to split it up, I think, into three two-hour sessions. One in the morning, one in the afternoon and one at night. And if the stake I'm playing for doesn't have 12 tables going (which is common) I'll move down in stake one-level to get to twelve. I like this plan! Can't wait to start it! Also, the $82 I sold my chips for finally got into my bank account and it feels pretty awesome how I made that from nothing in just a week.

So I stuck with my plan today on my first day back and played 5000 hands over 12 tables and in under 6 hours. It was all at 300/600 and I won 1.7m or $6.87.

My bankroll is at 9,503,332 and so I'm 476k away from moving up to 1k/2k and I think I'm just going to move up anyway as these games aren't that hard. The plan for tomorrow is going to be to play 5000 hands on 12-16 tables of 1k/2k ($0.004/$0.008) and try to win at least 1,000,000 for a 5BB/100 win rate. Around 25-30m I'll move up to 3k/6k and hopefully I won't tilt this time. At a 5BB/100 win rate it will take at least 77000 hands but hopefully my win rate is MUCH higher than that.

So up $12.40 on my second day back and still sticking to my routine of trying to play 5k hands everyday. 2/3 of the hands were at 1k/2k and the rest were at 300/600. Also, it was a good thing I added in the lower limit tables because since 12-tabling is so easy for me if there aren't 12 tables of 1k/2k running I should be opening more tables of any other stake because otherwise I feel I'd be losing chips that I could otherwise be winning. And it ended up working out as I won 630k at 300/600 and 2.5m at 1k/2k.

I like playing this mandatory 5k hands a day thing because it's something I've never done before and it's teaching me how to play through downswings and tilt when before if I ever went on tilt or hit a downswing I would just quit and now I can't do that anymore. And honestly, I don't see a difference in my play like I thought there'd be which is why before I'd quit so often.

So my bankroll is at 12.6m and I have about 17.4m more before I move up.

Obviously on a slower pace than I thought but slow and winning is better than hurrying and failing. I've played 10k more hands since my last post (still doing 5k hands a day) and I won 6.1m which totals my bankroll up to 18.7m. 3k/6k will be here most definitely in less than a week.

Anyways I stuck with my challenge and played 5k hands a day for 8 days giving me 40k hands at 1k/2k. I started at 7.8m, after selling 20m for $82, and worked that up to 30.6m. I just sold 20m of that for another $80 because I need it for gas and now I'm down to 10.6m. Before, my goal was 50 buy-ins for each stake but that's just too sick for these kind of games and so I'm going to lower it down to 20 buy-ins. I'll play 1k/2k to 12m and then start the 3k/6k games which are much tougher since it's short handed and there are better players there. But I'm going to give it a shot and try to work it to 40m and play 10k/20k.

Still going strong imo.

My internet is lagging at this time like it usually does and so I thought I'd give an update. At my last post I was at 10.6m and since then I've been playing 1k/2k and 3k/6k and now am at 39.7m. At 40m, sometime hopefully today, I'm going to start adding 10k/20k tables to my 12. 10k/20k is $0.04/$0.08 and so with that I'm confident I can pull at least $24 a day from it which would be so awesome.
