Hey there 2P2, this is my very first blog and post in this forum and I am very motivated to keep it up. There is no big intro or big words for this. The title says it all. This will be just hard work, dedication and no emotions involved in any of my hands. I was playing 10nl-25nl (as a winner) a while ago and then stopped playing once I had hit 50nl because I started a new job. Since the job is pretty boring and unsatisfying, I decided to give poker another try.

I will try to reach 5.000$BR within the next 3 months.

Starting BR: 50$

Starting Date: 2nd June 2014

I will try to update every 3 days. Lets rock!

And in comes my very first update from the last week. I rushed through 2nl and 5nl quickly. No interesting spots in my opinion and a good run to start the first week with.
*** Here my 2nl Graph (Without normal tables.)

*** Here My 5nl Graph (Took a shot at 20 BI and it worked out well)

Next up will be 10nl as I have 25 BI for that.

See you soon

Update 07.06 - 11.06

It started well volume wise, eventho I lost a couple BI right after my first shot. After that it was a swingy road all the way, but I deserved some of the losses, because I was sleeping at my girlfriend's, where I brought my laptop. I asked her if it was ok if I'd play while she was doing other stuff and she agreed.
Did enjoy the time with her, but playing on my laptop is always a pain in the ass. I get distracted more often because I can bring it to places where there is distraction. Even when I moved to a better place, I couldn't really focus that much. Played about 3-4k Hands at my girlfriends total in which I lost about 50$.
So the graph is not quiet accurate. (I tried to import the hands from my laptop, but the results shown on the graph cant be correct, because my bankroll tells me another story).
While playing at home, everything was fine.

Morning ritual to get my day started:
- 1 Bulletproof coffe (clean coffee + Butter + MCT Fat )
- 2 Eggs (eggs, salt, pepper, parsley)
- 1 Vitamin D3 (I am not really going out often enough, to have that covered )
- Lemonwater (1 lemon and sometimes I add some oranges squeezed)
- Shower

This rockets me into my day all the time and I've been practicing this for about half a year now. If you guys are interested in more stuff about productivity, let me know.

Daily update 12.06
Beauty and the beast

Today was my longest grind day so far for this challenge.
I played a total of 6571 hands,
4716 on fulltilt,
1855 on stars.

Yesterday I made the plan to move over to fulltilt, as I got a bonus there and thus huge rakeback to boost my challenge. I know that I couldnt win a single dime @ fulltilt a year ago and jinxed the site ever since. But I tried to give it a shot, only to realise that I am still jinxed.... ^^
I am not sure if it is bad play or just bad luck, but I will keep my fingers away from that site now for ever. Eventho I rounded up a lot of rakeback that could be earned if I'd keep playing, I will just make a cut and move on to stars. Leaving about 24$ of rakeback on FT.
After I got demolished on FT, I paused for a while and then went for another stars session that went extremly well. Managed to climb out of that 8 BI downer and now I am done with poker for the day (eventho its only 6pm) will finish up the day by going to the gym and meeting some people. Last time I was grinding, I made the mistake to completly stop socializing

Fulltilt Graph: -87,62$

Pokerstars Graph: +78,38$

Update June 12-16

The last couple of days were a challenge to my nerves. I kept sticking to my gameplan but couldnt manage to move further in my challenge. I stopped playing Zoom tables after I dropped about 10 BI in one day which didnt affect me at all, because I was careful with my actions and kept following the rules of the book but my opponents just had the top of their range or were outdrawing me. Whenever such happens, I am able to stay focussed and calm. But then on the normal tables, I was sitting with pretty loose fish wich is normally a good sign. But since they were so loose, I also opened up my ranges in a lot of spots which led to spew as I misplayed my wider range.

I just finished reviewing all the big pots for the last 4 days and came to the conclusion that there was not much I could have done differently that would have had a big impact. Still there are a lot of mistakes to work on in my postflop game, regarding the consistency of stealing small pots and avoiding unnecessary double barrles.

My bad for the low volume, but life kept me busy in those days. I will run a lot more hands this weekend and probably the next few days.

But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward – Rocky

Low volume for the week as expected but great results. My work is taking a lot out of me currently but I still try to play whenever I have the time for it. Also my gf came by to harass me for two days which I enjoyed a lot.

I always think about making my living with poker and leaving my old job behind. Gives me chills of happiness.
At the same time, I know that I wont be able to accomplish this while wasting so much daytime and brainpower on a job that I anyway dont want to continue. I will make a more detailed plan of my goals and how I am going to achieve them this weekend to boost my productivity.

The weekend starts now and I plan on putting in a lot of hours tho.
I will hit the gym today and tomorrow with my trainingsbuddy and grind the rest of the time. A couple hours will probably go into meeting up with some friends but the whole sunday will be pure poker!

Here are the results for the last 3 days:

Update June 20 21 22

It was a long and exhausting weekend. Trained legs on friday and chest on saturday which made moving around pretty painfull. Atleast I feel like I was doing something

Spoiler:

The first 2 sessions were really suprising as I ran pretty hot and was like "wow.. if this keeps on going the way it is now, my next post is not going to be believable.".
Then hit a small downswing which made things even again.
As you can see in the graph, in the last 1000 hands people were just folding everything to me eventho I wasnt changing my gameplan at all

For what its worth, I grinded way less then I used to and less then I expected. Went to my gf's for the whole saturday and slept there (can't really say "no, I have to play poker...").
I sometimes get the feeling that I want to only monofocus on poker and make everything else optional. But well I know how that works out for me from past experiences.

Here something on productivity again:

Life has it's up's and down's and it's the down's when you need something to get going again. Emotions are volatile and you have to realise that. There will be days when you are fxcked up and dont feel like doing anything. If you did everything significant in your life just by pure motivation, you wont be able to accomplish them at that day, as your motivation is linked to your emotions.
So what do we need to do?

Create rituals.

Rituals stay, no matter what emotions, ups, downs you have in life right now. It's like sport. If you are doing it for 1 year straight, you will feel anxious when you dont go to sport and your ritual will make you go, even if you feel like shxt.

Dont take on too many rituals for the start, as you will crumble. Trust me on this. Make it 1-2 rituals at best and then stick to them for 2 months straight. Then take on more.
And here comes the most important part: If you fxck up, you HAVE TO do it the next day. That will decide if you keep on going or snowball back to your older "weaker you".

anyway here is my graph for the last few days.

+39$

BR (Rakeback included): 362$/5.000$

monthly report: june

Sorry for the late update.
June now is in the books and even after a huge downswing at the end, I managed to grind out a profit and leave 2 limits behind me in the first month.

In total, I played 102 hours and 15 minutes, 97.117 hands with a total profit of $188,49.

I wish I could put in more hours but since I still have my job that takes about 10 hours a day from my time, but we will see if that changes in the near future.

My personal requirements to quit my job, are to make atleast $50/hour or 7.5k$ a month.

The graph is missing hands from my phone, fulltilt and my laptop, so thats why it is less hands and profit:

The downswing was a huge test to my discipline. Getting raised a lot on the turn/river with TPTK type hands or getting called down 2 streets with all my GS, FD, SD hands that didnt hit. But I kept my discipline which I am very proud of. In total I have 1 „bigger“ tilt hand, where I called down an aggrostation with TPTK eventho the board ran out horrible.

Bankroll at the end of june: $238,49/$5.000

______________________________________

For the next month, I will try to fit in more theory. I should be able to atleast post 3 hands a day for question on the forum and review a video in detail and the hands played in there. I am also informing myself on rakeback deals for different sites so I can tableselect more.

let’s get to work!

update 01.07 - 05.07

holla fellow grinders. I am now playing on different networks at once. Its really interesting to see how the strengh of different playerpools change when you switch sites.

Since I saw that hansthegreat did his 50/10.000 challenge almost solely from rakeback and kinda took very long (hours wise. He was quick in the overall run tho), I decided to change to his style that he is currently approaching, which is to choose where the best tables are.

Lurking around in 4 different lobbies and playing on 4 different skins at once really is something I am getting more used to every day and I hope I can improve on that in the future.

Once I hit 1k bankroll, I will buy myself a new computer and a second screen and will post a picture in here of my new setup. Obviously not from the BR money ...

Now to the update:

The month at first started kinda rough. Was down 5 BI very quickly and lost motivation so I took a day off. The downswing was very draining, as I thought about "how am I every going to be pro, if this **** keeps me behind. Am I not good enough?" But at the end, it helped me more then it damaged me. Of course I will have to put in more time now to regrind the money (which isnt a bad thing from my perspective) but I also started to post more hands in forums, reviewed session more and watched videos to improve.

Anyway enough with the bla bla, here is the graph of the last 5 days:

Winnings $51,85 + Rakeback $14,98 = total profit $66,83

Bankroll: $305,32/$5.000

Thanks mate. For me its all about refocussing and going back a step. Really helped me to get my stuff together again.

update 05.07-07.07

This will be a very quick update, as I am starving on some sleep.
Dropped down 5 BI and then regrinded 6 BI with a good deal of RB on top.

I messed up by playing 9 tables on 3 different sites + 2 zoom tables @ pokerstars and lost 5 BI very quickly. Then I refocussed, reviewed my sessions just to see that I messed up because I couldnt handle so many actions in so little time.

Got down to 6 tables and regrinded the losses in the next day.

last 2 days:
7.200 hands
Winnings $8,88 + Rakeback $18,13 = total profit $27,01

graph is from the beginning of the month, as one pokersite I am playing on is not saveing the hands at the correct time, so I cant filter it. The profit is calculated based on my last graph compared to my current one.

tomorrow plays germany vs brazil... hopeing so hard that I will manage to see my country win a world cup in my lifetime

update 08.07-26.07

hi guys,

I’ve fallen off the radar for quiet a bit. Mostly due to the fact that there was nearly nothing to updates since I wasnt able to grind at all. My job keeps me so busy and sleep deprived that I barely was able to put in the hours and hands.

I am somewhat ashamed because I was able to grind way more hands when I started this blog because I had more time to my hands and played zoom tables.

Now I got like 2 hours of freetime tops per day which I also use to go to the gym or read/study.

It became a really stressfull feeling whenever I did something else then working or poker, because I was mostly thinking about poker while doing other stuff. One day I sat down and analysed my thoughts and fixed this, because it took a lot of enjoyment from all activities so I am good now

I was at a festival last weekend which was fun but also took the major part of the week that I use for grinding. Usually I would have been stressed to “waste” time there and not be doing something towards my goals but this time I could relax way better and just enjoyed it.

Broke up with my GF since we were arguing a lot lately and I also had less and less time on my hands for her. We still meet up once in a while since we are able to satisfy each other really well

This weekend I managed to get in 7,5 hours so far and there is still one day left so I am somewhat happy with that. But I want to improve that for sure!

Bought a new PC and 2 screens which is such an improvement! No joke. Playing 4 tables each screen stacked to fullscreen makes it so much more clearer to play and realise stats etc. Really advocating this to every player.

New Goals :

- Hit 25nl until the 20th of august!

- improve volume to atleast a fixed amount of 1 1/2 hours per day. (this doesnt seem a lot to most of you guys and it even isnt much for me since I was used to grind 8k hands/day.)

Since I have my new setup and didnt copy the HH from my old PC (didnt want any virus on my new PC ^^) there are a lot of losses untracked on my other PC.

These are the results from my new computer:

In the end, my bankroll is a lot smaller then my last update + these results. But I am still happy with it. Slow but steady wins the race heh ^^

BANKROLL: $401,47/$5.000

quick 3 day update

Really not a lot to say about that. Still going strong with an overall winrate of 11bb/100 over the last 15k hands so cant complain.

What I am really thrilled about is the next 3 weeks, starting August 2nd.

3 weeks vacation! 3 weeks poker!!!

This will show me if I have the skillsets to be able to grind for many hours for serveral weeks. This will affirm or negate my plans to be even moderatly succesfull at poker.

The longterm goal still stands: Once I can sustain an hourly/monthly income that is 3 times as much as my current job hourly, I will quit and become a fulltime pro. This would be the case at

$45/hour or $6.500 per month

I might also put that down a good bit, for the extra freedom and choice! This would be possible at 100nl/200nl with RB.

On this weekend I will put my focus on defineing my goals more specific (S.M.A.R.T. Goal setting. Google that) and how I want to be able to reach them.

But the above numbers are my first longterm goal. After that I will set out for greater goals.

see you in 3 days

Goals for august
Finaly all my obligations are met and I can fully focus on poker! Today was really harsh since I was doing a house moving for my mother and now slept 1 1/2 hours after that.

Starting the challenge at 7pm this day so I am a bit behind in pace but that makes it even more challenging!

This is the AUGUST CHALLENGE:

START: 2nd august, $409 BR, 10nl

END: 24th august

1 – Play poker 7 hours/day on average over the whole challenge. (23 days total, will give myself 3 free days)

2 – Rake 700$ within the challenge to get up in the rakeback deal for my site

3 – study a minimum of 30 minutes/day (I already prepared a lot of things to cover and do homeworks on.)

4 – reach 25nl (this is the only goal that’s outside of my influence if it goes bad/breakeven stretch but going at the pace that I am going now, it defenetly should be possible. I will move up at $550 with a shot of 2 BI, repeating it until I make it)

5 – Do a blogentry every day of the challenge, updating my goals!

Let’s get to the grind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first day

that this will be a shorter day then usual was obvious from the beginning as I started my challenge at around 6pm.
Still managed to put in a good amount of hours and reached all my goals.

Challenge
1 - hit 4 hours 30 minutes of playtime with 2 pauses of 10 minutes every 1 1/2 hours. This seems to be a shedule I can stick to. I try to keep those pauses not too long, because then I would get removed from the tables which is a pain in the ass, concidering that I play on a small network.

I play the maximum amount of tables on that site which is 9 tables at once on 2 screens. Sadly the average hands/hour per table is between 65 and 75 so the hand amount will stay somewhat low. But well the juicyness makes up for it

2 - raked $46,91 on the first day and this wasnt even a full day. This clearly means that I will have to put the scale of the goal a lot higher tho.
Since Rake/hour comes with the hours, Id say that this goal doesnt make too much sense as I will reach what ever is possible considering the hours met but lets keep 1.000$Rake as a good mark to aim for in 3 weeks!

3 - Done. Reviewed the session, did a couple of EV-guessings in serveral spots and posted 2 hands

4 - Bankroll now is at $462,73. One increment of the 1st deposit was released so thats why it boosted a bit.

the start was very harsh as I dropped almost 5 BI within 3 hands in a row.
Managed to stay calm and patient and it turned out good

Day 2

So this was the first day that I worked fulltime. I am really happy with my gameplay in general, not results-wise but focus-wise. I managed to maintain a steady focus till the end with small dips in the middle but no big fckups over those hours.

Obviously ran pretty well but I try to not let results be the center of my attention but rather my processes and if I took action and followed them through.

What I realised is, that there is not that much aggression going on at my limit so its easier for me to profitably autopilot and not get frustrated or on tilt since there is nearly nothing to fight back against and if, they are easily readable. So I will have to see how that goes on 25nl, 50nl and up.

Here is a good video about that topic (skipped to the part where it gets to this point):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...XIGcnt6k#t=214

1 – I hit 7 hours of playtime. Did chunk it in a 3 hours part and 4 hours later that day with one 10 minute pause for each chunk.

The traffic was good and except for the beginning of the session, I had the maximum amount of tables open pretty fast.

2 – $63,43 rake today. $110,31 total. Looks like I will be way on my way. Once I hit 500$ rake, the site offers me an additional flat RB deal of 30% so that will be interesting.

3 – Analysed one opponent that I play on a regular basis in detail (already 4k hands) and took a lot of notes. It’s really interesting to see, how increadibly bad he is and still has a somewhat decent WR on that limit.

4 – Bankroll now at $545,29. Seems like I will be taking a shot at 25nl tomorrow. Let’s hope for a good start!

off to some meditation and then to sleep. See you tomorrow

Day 3

Woke up, breakfast routine, hit the gym, powernap and then straight to the tables!

Really mixed feelings here. Eventho my shots (I managed to take 2 shots today) got crushed, I felt like I was mostly on top of my shxt but in my session review, I could find 2 pathetic spots where I lost about 30$. Anyway shottaking is always considered a hard and highly variance leaned part so I will just stick to the process and wait for my next shot to come.

I quit a little earlier, because eventho I have no stop loss limit, I thought this would be a good margin to stop it.

1. I think this is about 6 hours and 40 minutes of playtime tops, as I took longer breaks.

no problems with the traffic at all this time.

2 – $75,84 rake today. $186,15 total.

3 – not really much besides the session review of about 15 hands and taking some notes.

4 –
Bankroll now at $473,92 due to 1 increment of FDB. At first I had to grind out 8$ to be allowed for the shot so after a small downer, I got that handled, ****ed up the shot and had to regrind it again which I did but then.. well look for yourself:

only 10nl today:

Day 4

Not a really good day in terms of progress and process.

I hit stop loss of 6BI for the day after almost 6 hours ( one 10 minute pause). I can really feel the edge but at the moment its just not going for me.

I still have a lot of faith tho, that if I follow through, success will be inevitable.

anyway here is the quick update before I crash into bet.

1 – about 5:50 of total playtime.

2 – $57,43 rake today, $243,58 total.

3 – absolutly none. I will do one hour tomorrow and hit it hard on the table for more then 7 hours. got a schedule to keep up to.

4 –
Bankroll now at $411,79.

Well RB is obviously a big part of anybodys winnings but usually my winnings are way higher then RB. Also number 2 of my challenge is the total rake paid. Not my total rakeback.
Well two screens is a luxury that I have. Generally any PC will do it if it can handle holdemmanager if you are using that. Obviously you want as big of a screen as possible

Day 5

This was a really good day volume wise. I stuck to the hours and somewhat regrinded the lost hours of yesterday. Still riding on the downswing with hilarious drawouts but that’s just how its gonna be. It’ll eventually turn around anyway so *** the worry

really need to crash into bed so this will be quick.

1 – good 8 hours and 20 minutes of play. only one short pause in my second session.

2 – $85,88 rake today, $329,46 total

3 - again nothing. Couldnt manage to free up the time. So for tomorrow the plan has to change.. I will do my theory before grinding and review todays session and analyse some players.

4 – Bankroll now at $396,23 a bit up from one FDB increment.

still on the downswing. I filtered this session by preflop AI’s for fun and lost 11/14 hands. Standard preAI by the book without exception.

1 – Did no pause in between the sessions. So 7 hours of playtime accomplished.

2 – $67,42 rake today, $396,88 this month

3 – did some sessionanalysis and rewatched some of the videos from no-bs-6max.
