I've had a few other threads here in 2012-2014, playing primarily HUNL (Hyper sngs, 20bb CAP games on stars) and live satellites, and a bit of PLO. It generally went ok...
I haven't really played poker since 2014 when I moved back to Europe to study/work/do other things, but now with the 'quarantine' I have a bit more time, so I started playing a bit again.
I'm currently playing PLO10 and would like to learn a bit more about the game, study and move up. I don't have any set goals other than 'learn' and I'm not too bothered about moving up yet or having a goal of crushing any high stakes. I'm mostly playing poker as a hobby now.
Every morning, I'll post some hhs from the day before (if I played) and the day's starting BR. I'm playing on party and don't have access to neat hhs unfortunately. If someone has a tip on how to convert them from the party hh viewer to text please let me know.
Starting BR $420

Annoying day yesterday where I couldn't make any hands. Made me remember one of the ways I used to tilt a few years ago. I kept trying to force hands by playing too loose pre, or calling hands I shouln't be post. Ended the session early after losing and spewing a few BIs.
Made a few hands, won a few, lost a few yesterday. Pretty breakeven day.
I'm trying to work a lot on my preflop ranges at the moment. I feel like I'm generally far too loose, and these small mistakes preflop compound on later streets, I end up losing a large pot with a hand that should be a trivial fold pre. I feel like this is especially true in multiway pots.
I come from a short stack NLHE background, where I mostly played HU. There was no multiway play, and mistakes cost 20bb at most, so in HUNL I was of course playing very loose pre. This actually worked well when transition to 6max CAP too. Again, 20bb stacks so small mistakes didn't have huge compounding effects and only having to play one or two streets made the game much simpler. This is not the case in PLO, equities run close, but my habit of calling loosely pre (especially from the bb) is having an impact on my winrate.
I tried out PLO some time in 2016 for a few months before taking a long break from poker. I did okay and was beating 50PLO at a reasonable rate, but the game has since changed. I remember watching RIO videos where the general advice was to not 3b from the blinds, it was all about position position position. Watching vids now and playing with solvers, it's like I'm looking at a completely different game, there's a hell of a lot more 3betting from the blinds, less flop aggression (less cbetting) among other changes. It's fun, but I have a long way to go and a lot to learn.
