My last 10 hands - here are two of them. Writing this as a way to remove myself from the game for a bit before getting back to it.

Losing the will to live with these run outs / suck outs (bad plays from opponents that keep paying off)

and this one all in pre.... guess is standard but hurt nonetheless

My session after 2k hands is now -$108 (at 50NL). Hoping to put another 2k hands in and see where we end up.

Doh!

Managed to play another 1.5k hands but went to bed because I was tired. Managed to win back what I lost, so even for the session. Hopefully today will be a better day. Will play tonight and post results and some hands.

I have managed to reach 100k hands. I did 102k hands in 3 weeks exactly.

Today I played some 10NL for a change and a way to practice. I have been losing at 50NL... potentially break even after leaderboard and bonuses

I made some changes to my strategy today after some good conversations with another 2p2 member.
I am calling my game today as 'NEW ROB'.

Here is my graph from my few short sessions today. I dropped to 2 tables instead of 4 and implemented my new strategy.

I guess I will need a new challenge. I may start a new thread and call it NEW ROB - goal will be to be a winner pre rake back.
I am thinking about a new challenge. 500k hands by Christmas. With a positive WR post rake back.

So guess the question is... new thread or keep it all here?

New ROB finished for the day.
4.7k hands 10NL - 15BB/100

New strategy worked well today. Lower variance and solid.
Even if we do get on the wrong end of it at times.....

Ok, so day 2 of the new strategy and more play at 10NL to practise. I played 3.5k hands (only). Either 2 or 3 table Blitz.

NEW ROB is playing solid poker - long let it continue.
Thoughts? Shall we set up a new thread, as I have reached my goal of 100k hands (complete in 3 weeks).

I am going to play 10NL all week for the leaderboard. Go away on holiday on Friday. When I get back I may do a few days at 10NL. Would like to get this sample to 50k hands.
The plan is then to go back to 50NL and become that winner before rakeback. Ideally something like 1-3bb/100 would be good.

I am secretly hoping that I can turn poker into more than just a hobby. Time will tell.
One thing that is for certain. I am loving playing the game.

Ok so I thought I would post an interesting hand to see what you think of the play.

So my thinking here when he 4 bets that his value AA, KK, QQ, JJ, ... maybe 4 bets 1010 or 99 but unlikley. Same with KQ but I do block that. And then AQ and AK. When he bets flop, I was thinking about shoving but thought I get called by AA, KK, JJ, 1010, 99 still and I just get folds from AK and AQ but if suited.. I don't. Check and check turn. His range is now narrower perhaps? I decided not to go for it on the river but not sure, as I still think he still has all the hands on the flop in his range still. So went with check and then he shoved. I think it was fine to fold here and not bluff catch.

In terms of bluffs... well if he decided to 4 bet something like 109 suited he made 2 pair and if he went with something like 87 he made a straight on the flop. The only real bluffs I can think of are AQ and AK but I block AQ. All in all, I think I saved myself approx 70BB.

Thought I show a quick update. Not sure if I should start a new thread... might get more traction that way. Feel like I am just talking to myself here ha....

Anyways, I will keep talking for a bit I guess...

10NL is going well still. I have played 10NL exclusively since the 14th July, so on day 6 today. ACR back on maintenance this am, so thought it was a nice time to update.
I have played just over 20k hands in 5 days or so. Some days I am slightly higher than 4k per day and some days just slightly under. Still 3 tabling or sometimes 2 tabling Blitz. Ratholing when I double up most of the time or if I get to 150BB. I am doing this to ensure variance is better accounted for. Perhaps I could win more if I played deeper but I could also lose more..... so I guess there are different opinions on the right strategy.

So I am happy to report I am winning before rakeback and bonuses. I am going to keep playing 10NL for the month of July. I want a minimum of a 50k sample (perhaps a 100k sample for some real good data to be drawn from the hands played) and gives me more time to practise what I am doing at a lower stake. But I am wanting to get back to 50NL and become that winner I know I can be before rakeback.

Hey Rob nah you are not talking to yourself here. Nice to see that you are putting in the work and stick to your strategy changes. I am also playing 10NL but not on ACR atm. Maybe I'll give it a try if i don't get good offers on other sites since I would get now also 27% Rakeback which is a lot when living in Germany.

Thanks for the support Dr G.

Update - going on holiday today - back Wednesday.

Played 27k hands since 14th July at 10NL.
Up $340. On track for $50 leaderboard, which will be a nice little bonus.

Will keep playing 10NL and take a few shots at 50NL when I am back: I am wanting to be regularly playing and winning before rakeback at 50NL by this time next month.

Enjoy the grind if you are playing 🤙

Got back from holiday Wednesday afternoon. Got 3 days of poker back under my belt. Mainly playing 50NL.

Managed to get myself 5k points for $125 on the Beast leaderboard. It took about 15k hands over the three days.

I am breakeven for this time period too. Played like a monkey in quite a few sessions, so I will have to erase my old habits with time.

Hoping if I can stop myself tilting or playing anything that is like my C game… I can definitely turn a profit pre-rakeback.

I am also thinking of making the switch from rakeback to the Elite Program. Apparently it is better for those that grind. I still have four months of this year… and I would like to set myself the goal of 100k points to achieve the General level. I am thinking it may take approx 100k hands per month to achieve this - 400k hands total at 50NL. This is based off a friend who achieved 100k points at 200NL with approx 100k hands.

So August goals….

1) Achieve 25k points towards the Elite Program with approx 100k hands or however many hands it may take….month trial to see if 100k points is viable by the end of the year.

2) Play 50NL exclusively. No other stakes or games. This will be hard… as I have dabbled with 200NL and Omaha on the occasion. Seem to lose at 200NL and win at Omaha.

3) Have a positive green line for the month, winning before rakeback.

*Bankroll is now at approx 2.7k. I did withdraw 1.3k earlier today, which was nice. The aim is to withdraw my profits at the end of the month and play with approx 2.5k, which is 50 buyins.

I will update this blog after the first few days of the month. Is there anything you want to see or know? Let me know… cheers

Unfortunately had a change of plan. We have just moved house and we needed all the money that we could to furnish the place. So I have had to withdraw my role.

I can get together a few hundred dollars to play 10NL again and build it back up. But I am hoping I may be able to get staked, so I will make a post on that part of the forum.

I can put in a lot of volume. I would like to learn a lot a long the way too.

If I don’t get any luck with being staked, I will start at 10NL again and go from there.

Hi Rob and welcome back. Getting staked sounds like a waste of time if you are rolled enough to play 10NL

imagine this: you getting staked for 50NL and having a contract which will force you to play only the game(s) that you made a deal for. Due to the higher limit your winrate decreases so it won't be super unlikely to hit long stretches of bad luck. You'll grind your ass off and won't have any money for yourself, to shot take etc. For sure it will have effects on your mental health. Playing staked sounds to me like modern slavery where the rich guy gives you the tool with a single click (send money to Rob) while you will invest your energy and time to make him even richer.

be smart when it comes to those decisions.

Hey Dr,

Thanks for reaching out. I actually went to bed and slept on the idea of joining a CFP scheme.
I only slept 5-6 hours and woke up due to a nightmare I was having. The only way I can describe is that I was in a field.
A saw a man in the distance and he let his dog off the lead (dog type was something like a Doberman/German Pinscher).
It was hurtling towards me really fast and was ready to attack. It missed me and ended up stopping 50m or so past me in the woods.
The dog turned around and hurtled towards me again and latched on to my arm. All I could see was the man still walking and making his way towards me.
Then I woke up. Pretty vivid dream....

I took that as a sign to say no to the CFP company.

I am going to grind myself and continue that way. I have moved over to GG poker. I noticed I had C$35 in my account, so loaded up a table of 25NL.
Now I have $173 in my account.

or poker tracker 4 graph

I am going to continue to play 25NL and build what I have. I do also have some extra money I can deposit if needs be.
Let's see what happens for the rest of the week. I will update.

Last three days at 25NL Rush GG tables have gone well.
Crushing it. Going to keep going and get a 50k sample before potentially moving up to 50NL.
