I’m an amateur/recreational small stakes headsup hyper player and I’m trying to learn 2 tabling. So far I’ve been extremely unsuccessful at this.
My current 2 tabling skills can be well illustrated with this screenshot
This is a super standard play by me when I’m 2 tabling.
My common mistakes are:
misreading boards
thinking I’m on SB when villain limps
not being able to handread at both tables (usually I end up handreading at one and random clicking at the other table)
The above screenshot is from a vid I sent to a highstakes player who told me I’m playing too fast and should play as slowly as possible.
2 tabling I can beat 7s with great effort, but at 15s I’m certainly losing. That is despite my lifetime expected ROI at 15s is 3.5% (without 2 tabling sessions that would have been a lot higher). I know that everyone on 2+2 has a 7% ROI at 15s but even 2% is good and many players who are much worse at 1 tabling can successfully 2 table (and therefore can bumhunt at higher stakes), while I can’t. I don’t know what might be the reason. I have no problems with multi tasking in real life. The highstakes player told me it must be a mental block. Over the last 2 years I probably spent 300+ hours trying to learn 2 tabling, so most likely I will never learn it but I will try for the last time. If I fail I will just quit poker, because 1 tabling low stakes makes no sense.
My previous thread was about playing regs (I was sitting regs, not waiting for any fishes) at $30-60s but I stopped it because I wasn’t running great.
Basically the same player pool but I ran much worse at higher stakes than at lower stakes vs same players. Also I 2 tabled a decent amount (30%?) which wasn’t very smart considering my 2 tabling “skills” and that ruined my EVs.
For starters I will keep playing 7s because that’s the highest buyin I can beat 2 tabling. My results so far:
I have a lowstakes licence of bumhuntstrator, so I will use this to play 5 min sessions at the beginning and then if I play 5 ok sessions in a row I will increase duration to 6 min, etc. I don't aim at a particular ROI, I just want to improve my decision making. Atm I don't feel comfortable even at 7s.
