Also you represent such a narrow range by raising, literally just AK & 99, and he obviously blocks a lot of AK, and 99 is few combos. Also his whole range is nutted so I think he calls like near 100% of the time. If he's good, and thinking about how you see his range, he can maybe have some QQ that you fold out, but that's it.

AQcc hand I don't think is awful actually. Flop is a standard check back, and I don't think turn is a bad raise as you have 12 good outs. River is a decent spot to bluff, but I don't think you need to overbet. I think 1/2 pot accomplishes 95% of your fold equity there? You probably won't fold out a K, but will fold out all missed draws and Jacks.
I largely share your thoughts.

The AQdd hand was atrocious monkeytilt imho. And I really don't like calling there since there are no rivers I like as played. It should just be a "ok, fine, rep your KK/AK" and move on OTT, but emotionally I couldn't do it because some frustration and tilt had crept in from the previous hand where I couldn't oull the trigger on the river even though I knew my line kind of demanded it.

Agree about the AQcc hand, the problem here was that I picked the absolute worst villain possible to do it with. I agree thoigh that a smaller bet probably has the same result, as most people will be fairly inelastic in the 1/2pot-150%pot range. Villain was entirely inelastic though, and would have called me down with pocket 33's here. He literally called down 3 streets with Q high, even on an A river in another hand. I just hadn't seen enough hands from him to identify that this guy was an absolute grand central calling station.

The AQcc hand. - BB is raising in a multiway pot with you still to act. He's not bluffing. He has some sort of a made hand. The problem is that you're not closing the action. SB is still to act. Reraising is crazy.

As it happens, SB calls. So he has called a raise and a reraise on the turn. He has at least Top pair here and you only have about 33% equity. Imagine if SB or BB had shoved on the turn. That would be a disaster

With only 33% on the turn but with plenty of ways to improve on the river versus a fish who doesn't like folding, you should just call and realize your equity. Imagine if the river had been the 2c, You'll still be getting SB's stack.

Yeah, you make excellent points. The reraise is pretty stupid ott.

howdy ya'll. It's been a while since I have posted here.

I had a rough end to the year. A lot of my mental game issues sort of condensed around the holiday season and I ended up basically punting off what little BR I had to my name. So I took a solid break and focussed on doing some studying, some talking about spots and hands in general and then moving down.

I have not had much time to play recently because work has been fairly busy, but I have managed to get a few hands in at 5NL, playing mainly 2 tables of zoom.

The break definitely helped, and I think a lot of my issues benefited from a couple weeks off. It allowed me to take a step back, look at myself in the mirror a bit and manage to consolidate some of the studying I have been cramming in recently.

So far, the first 1.7k hands have been great. I have felt pretty dialled in and have run pretty good in some spots. More importantly I have been able to avoid some of the obviously -EV spots that used to get me in trouble, and I have been better able to identify when my game is slipping and when I am getting frustrated. This has a lot to do with removing any kind of volume or performance goals, basically just playing when I feel fresh and have the time.

Hopefully I will be able to get in around 500 hands a day for the next couple days, depending on work load etc. Will probably try to record or stream a session in the next couple days also.

Here is the giraffe for 5NL so far this year and todays session.

End of Day BR: $157

Today's session: 5NL

Year to date 5NL
