Hi!
Been away from poker for some years. Bumhunting wasn't exactly my thing, so was a winner at the second lowest real money tables. At some point I also had got the play money section up to a million, that was waiting there for me!

Coming back I find some interesting tournament formats, especially Sit 'n Gos. So have played up the million to two. Can I become a play money billionaire? Time will tell.

About two and half M now. I enjoy the Spin & Go Max 10k games. They are 3-6 players, not 3-8 as the site tells, at least this far. Get experience of varying blinds short handed in the hyper format, and some real gambling in the end, short and intense games. The 2x9 players 25k turbo is another favorite. Some "real" deep stack full ring tournament play in the beginning, getting forward at a suiting pace.

A bias is I can load 15k for free every 4 hours, have to take it. That part will gradually diminish in importance when (if) building bankroll. Planning to move up in stakes when reaching 10M.

Maybe I'm leaving the Spin & Go Max after all? End game is usually lacking, as all remaining players go auto all-in after a certain amount of hands. And I kind of like end games, so this may be goodbye...intersting acquaintance though. Wildly varying prizes for a win was fresh and ok.

Your best bet is no limit omaha. Or if you're really good at poker, regular spin and gos.

Thanks for the advice! May not have mentioned I'm all NL holdem at the moment. Played a lot of O8 back in the day though, only some omaha high. The regular spin and gos are for some reason all only three people, played for example yesterday, felt I had an edge especially HU, survived losing a couple all-ins when being a favorite, worked the stack up. High blinds can be your friends.

Have found Tempest poker, all-in or fold. Lost a few hundred k when trying to defend blinds and antes, but found solid push hands are the key. Bad hands are mostly bad, but Q8o can maybe be tried, QTo definitively, suits and connectors are nice, if they aren't too low. If I mostly get at least close to 33% equity in a three handed pot and 25% in a four handed, that's ok, then you also have some 50% favorites in the multiways. Aces and pairs are the bread and butter, at six-max you needn't be scared of being dominated. Often it's seriously more short handed, even heads up at times.

Tempest was a good experience, never really got to know how good or not good I am though, huge variance, with just 1.4M left I'd better quit, returning to sit n go where I actually think I'm a winning player. Came in 2/18 in the first one, let's build some.

Closing in on 2M again. Think the NLHE 25k 6-max hypers/turbos may be my games of choice, they are fast enough and I seem to have a clear edge, the hyper being my favorite at the moment. There is a 100k turbo going, could start that when reaching for example 5M.

But will be mixing in varying formats when feeling for it, will report afterwards.

Got tournament histories. In the latest nine 6-max hyper sngs I came in first four times and second three times, so in the money 7/9. Feels it's not just variance, a few tens of sngs more will tell.

Even if it's play money you need to be a clearly better than average player, Stars get their cut. Buy-ins are 6x25k=150k, while prizes are 127.4k, so Stars takes close to 4k from my every 25k buy-in. Many must be buying play money, my part isn't that, will just play low enough.

On Stars 1M costs $5, 100M $50 and 1B $400. So if I ever become a Stars billionaire, it will kind of equal 400 dollars. Nice.

Need to try to become a well rounded player. Not only playing games where I have a clear edge. So every hour there's a 15k tournament going with several hundreds of players. You learn, better to be in from the start, not registering late. Not all-in/fold crapshoot directly. There are antes from the start though, probably better not to be totally nitty. And the turbo mode limits the hands you get deep stacked.

Really got to win my first larger tournament, close to 500 participants! As needed, a bit luck at most of the critical points.

A 2.9M bankroll now. At the moment I'm playing the MTTs with up to 1000 participants rebuys included. I'm always in from the start now, not rebying. In the money six out of ten (winning one) of the latest tourneys, not quite as good as it sounds, because ITM is about one third to one fourth of the players, but think it's a winning strategy.

One challenge has been to figure out how to be winning when people aren't 'playing by the book'. Then I can't be totally playing by the book either. Winning my share of the all-in fests and surviving into the money have been important parts.

3.8M. Have a good deal, I have started to get the free 15k from stars before starting the MTT for 15k, so at least an increased bankroll is assured for now

More important is the ROI, have recently started to write my results on a spreadsheet:

Of the five tourneys I happened to be in the money all of them, not being there means -15k, those will come too of course. Net win is registered, better so, I subtract 15k from what I get when busting out (/winning). My ROI may not be far from 100%. Will continue this for some time, at the latest when hitting 10M I will try to move up and watch if my absolute winnings increase.

Some times has passed, I'm counting on starting to play more in about one month.

23.9. I was maybe a bit rusty in the first tournament, but you of course will be out of the money your share.

Tomorrow I will participate in my first live tournament in a very loong time, a €120 buy-in holdem MTT. Will prefer the €50 buy-ins in the future, but this came timely, I'm on vacation, retiring in a month at 61. Counting on having 10 good poker years left, maybe...

I didn't cash in yesterday's live €120 tourney, pleasant experience though, 50-60 participants.

Decided to move up to 50k play money from 15k, there the players kind of must be better, as only 15k can be loaded for free every 4th hour, or play chips bought for real money. That was my experience too in the first tournament. Field was below 200. The 50k play money MTTs could be at least partly relevant training for the €50 live MTTs I intend to play, think I'll stick to it for some time to come!

Looking at the training sites, playing against GTO for example. Not intending to put in many tens of dollars per month for attending, but a little anyway. Probably a mix of GTO and real play is the best for development. At the moment preparing for the live tournaments is my priority.

Yes, it looks I have transited to live poker, the €50 MTTs run every second week, 60 players. My studying is online, not paying any monthly sum at the moment though. I invested a bit above $100 in the exploring, so have given back.

I'm fine tuning starting hands, but postflop is of course very important as long as the stack is big enough. I may never materialize my possible +ev with this amount of hands, but will try every single hand. That's part of the fun.

Time runs, have studied some, played live again a couple of days ago. Getting a hunch of the mechanics, seeing people playing for getting to reload in the MTTs. Not my thing, 50€ and that's it. Now four tournaments, not in the money, usually busting when blinds start to be win or lose. Game selection is this: playing low for possibly having an edge, and with bad luck and possibly non-oprtimal skill, can afford it.

It has turned out I have switched totally to live and studying with with the particular €50 mtts in mind. As there is no ante, they remind of cash games in some regards. My estimate now it's better to just let Stars be, many months since playing online. So I am left with quite exactly 4M in play chips, starting out with 1M. Quite far from the 1B. But it's too late to change header now...
