Mohegan Mayhem
Played a marathon 11 hour session today. Games happened to be better than average so we decided to stay a bit past our bedtime. Definitely going to hurt the regular weekday sleep schedule but it was worth it.
In our first interesting hand we make it 25 to go in MP over a limper with K
J
. We get two callers in the field as well as the limper and we see a Q
Q
3
flop. It checks around and we see an awesome K
I think this is an interesting spot after the limper checks to us. There are obvious merits to betting, but we decide to check and try to get value on the river, and it checks around again. The river is there 8
and after the limper checks a third time we bet half pot, 50, for value. We get one caller who mucks and we pick up the pot. I think these single raised multiway pots are so important to look st as they are the epitome of the live games. I'd love to hear comments on this hand as I feel like we could have done something different on all streets.
We dwindle back down to 100bbs when we play a pot against an older gentleman reg who covers us. We find J
J
in MP and open it up to 20. We get one caller and then V makes it 75. We flat and the other player folds. The flop is the amazing :K
J
3
we check hoping to raise and v fires 225. Bingo! We decide we don't want to flat and ship it for 344 more. His 3bet range is quite tight and therefore we thought getting over 2-1 he's call here with AA or AK. We ship in. He tanks for over two minutes, does the whole I'm sorry speech for taking quite long, and folds
Later on in the night we pick up A
6
in the HJ and open up to 20. A gentleman who I've been playing a ton of pots with (because he's playing 90/5) and has run it up to 1500 calls. We go heads up to a 7
5
2:spade flop. We lead for 30 and he calls. The turn brings the 8:spade giving us an open ended and the NFD. We lead again, this time for 60 and he quickly calls. The turn is the interesting 9
giving us the straight. I check and he bets 130. I quickly call and his Q
7
is good and we lose a pretty decent sized pot.
We try to turn things around when a younger player who we have never played with open to 20 in MP. It folds to us as we 3bet to 65 on the button with 8
7
I have not been getting out of line at all and I felt it was a good spot for a 3b bluff. He calls and we see a 7
A
Q
our opponent check/calls 70 and we see the gorgeous 8
turn for bottom two. He checks, and we bet 175. He tank/ships for ~400 total. The river is the 3
and we announce 2 pair. A few guys say "oh you have AQ". Not quite... but we scoop anyways.
In our final interesting hand we play a hand against one of the few thinking players at the table. We open to 20 7 handed UTG+1 with A
K
and get a caller. The villain on the button makes it 75 and we decide to just call. I had just 4b this villain with this same hand a few orbits ago(although he doesn't know obv) and decide to switch it up. The flop is A
7
5:spade. I check and he checks back.
The turn is the 5
and although I feel like I'm way ahead I don't see merit in betting as I'm not sure what would call that's worse. He'd bet an A on the flop, so I feel like he has 99-KK here. I check again and he checks back. The river is the J
and we lead for 100. He raises to 325 and I call quickly as I feel our hand is super underrepresented. He turns over JJ and we lose that one.
Overall it was a great game, and a big win for us to turn around our mini-downswing. GL on the tables all!!
