The HU tournament was a lot of fun.

Normally do my updates Monday but will push it back to whenever I finish this WPT Main.

I busted the 6 max in 45 minutes.

I lost in the 1st round of the HU.

So only way to go is up!

Played fairly snug/solid today and managed 73k going to 1k bb for day 2 of this thing. Still about 60% of the field left

Managed to get through a nasty cold and Brutal set over set to make Day 3 of WPT Borgata.

Hero has 45BB, 145 left, and 5.8k locked up.

616k to winner.

Here’s hoping

Thanks boys. Run ends in 105th for $6399

Had Jean Gaspard and Muk Puhuja on my left and with around 35-40bb's I was a bit tighter than I wanted to be me.

Jean Gaspard opens UTG to about 2.5x, he had been fairly wide throughout so I estimate RFI about 25-30%, he gets 2 CC's and it folds to me in the BB off of 29bb. I peak at AdJx and decide to rip.

I think calling is probably standard but given what I thought UTG's RFI I favored the shove.

Anyway, I rip. Gaspard SNAP calls, CC 1, rejams for about 75bb total and obviously I know I'm pretty toast.

Gaspard, tanks and calls. And we have over 1 million pot, and I can win the 800k main pot.

Me: AJo

Gaspard: TT

Rejammer: KK

Honestly, was extremely pleased with this and even got the Jxxd rainbow for some hope, but no dice.

Always kinda fun to run deep in these great structures, will be back online tomorrow to get back into the swing of things.

Will get back to investors early tomorrow

Week 37 +38: 9/9-9/22

1.) 30 mins of meditation Yearly Goal: 14.87

2.) 0 mins of Yoga

3.) 95.72 hours dedicated to Poker Yearly Goal: 1171.72/2200

I only meditated on Day 2 and Day 3 of the WPT championship so have fallen kind of off in that regard, but have grinded pretty hard as far as poker. This past weekend I put in about 35 hours which included an 8 hour grind followed by 4 hours of Sims, ran scripts, and went over some stuff the next day.

While all that was good, think my brain went into overdrive a bit and trying to process a bit too much, had some otherworldly, Rapidesh like (sorry, bro) punts.

Quick WPT Breakdown

6 max:

The event I had by far the most confidence in, and despite being an abover avg field for live probably the event I had largest edge in. Regardless, I was out in about 35 minutes.

Such is life, I at least got to play cash, but the games were really not that great. Also not shocking to see how live is almost as predatorial as online. Anyway, people made some mistakes and I played fairly well to win a bit overall on the trip.

HU:

The most fun event by far, HU tournaments are awesome. Saw a bunch of very strong NJ guys I play with and only one of them made the money (shoutout Ricky Guan).

I drew a very solid opponent in round 1, was definitely a pro and had an idea of what he was doing. I made a massive hero call in this following spot.

He opens BU, I defend BB with J3dd.

Flop comes Qd3x6x, he bets tiny and I x/r, he tanks a bit and calls.

Turn comes the Ax. Now I'm not a live expert but just (call it gut feeling) felt very strongly he was not strong at all. He bets about half pot, I decide to call.

River is the Tx. I check and he bombs it for close to pot.

I think in general this is a very ez fold but I kinda level myself with my turn read and call off and my J3dd loses to his KJo.

I'm down about 3-1 chip deficit and I just get unfortunately am not getting dealt many hands, I do get a big bluff raise through based off sizing tell (hand was horrible in theory) and through 1.5 hours Match 1 is still going on. Unfortunately, blinds get high and with us both sub 20bb I ripped K4o and do not beat ATo.

The second match, was more of the same, lots of back and forth, I do get a 4-1 lead but do not hold on this one, losing 2-0 after a 3.5 hour battle. Felt like outside of the big call, no huge mistakes, so was fairly happy w play despite 2 v early busts.

WPT Championship

Never played a WPT event before so was fairly excited, didn't know many people but there was a raise your edge pro to my left.

I ran completely average, not too high, not too low. Bag about 73bb's for Day 2 with about half the field remaining.

Of course Gazzy B is down there, and by some miracle, I am sat to his direct left for Day 2, very enjoyable to have a good friend with me in this event.

I very early start making some very good hands and shoot up to 200k at about 1600bb. Greg Himmelbrand sits down (tourney pro) and I open JxTh in the CO, he defends BB.

Flop comes Ah8h7o, he checks and I go fairly big here around arund 80% pot, he calls somewhat quickly. Turn is 4x and I go big again (No OB) and he calls fairly quickly.

River is the Jh, and I tank for a bit before deciding to not bluff, figuring bb defend range will have quite a bit more flushes than in a cash game, I don't expect to win too often and am pleasantly surprised when I see K7o no heart.

He busts Gaz a short time later, and I continue to win flips and make hands, my image is very crazy but I am just getting hit by the deck.

I open CO again with K4cc and Himmelbrand defends again. Flop is JcTc3x. He checks, I bet 1/3rd, he calls.

Turn is another 3x and I OB about 1.5x pot, he once again calls fairly quickly.

River is 8x, he checks, I snap give up and he shows T7o for the win.

I then pray to the poker gods to give me top pair one time vs him. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen but I continue to build and get to around 500k at 2kbb before our table breaks.

(Note: I don't imagine his calls are so bad since he probably assumes players are v unbalanced with OB lines)

I get to the last level of Day 2, and my table is a ton of fun, v enjoyable experience. There's about 180 left, 145 get paid and a cool 616k to the winner.

John Hinds opens 3.5x SB vs my BB, I defend 44. Flop comes K94 FD and he cbets a little over 1/3rd, I raise about 3x, he tanks quite a bit and calls.

Turn comes the Qx bringing double flush draw, and I jam about 1.5x pot, I get absolutely snapped, I'm still fairly happy until I see him flip over 99.

Losing a 150bb pot at that stage of tournament is not fun, especially with how comfortable I am at 100bb's.

Alas that's poker and for 90% of this thing I ran v good.

I managed to bag about 45bb's and ITM with 145 left.

Day 3

Short lived. I lost few standard spots and got down to 29bb, Jean Gaspard (who had already shown down 98o UTG +1 RFI) opens UTG and gets 3 calls and I see AJo in the BB and rip it in.

Gaspard snaps which is no bueno, and even more alarming is the first CC who rejams over Gaspard, who tank calls it off.

I expect to be in horrific shape but get best case scenario as my AJdx is up against KK and TT.

I actually have decent EQ to suckout and have close to 1 million chips, but despite flopping top pair and bdfd, I do not get there and the dream dies.

So yeah tournies are a nice break, but I've been very happy to get back to playing cash.

Life Stuff

Paid 2018 taxes and deposited some money into my IRA so the bankroll stays in neutral.

Moving out in 10 days though which is very exciting.

Finally got my PT4 working so some hands to share.

Packing Up

Meditation was a dud, but got a lot done on the poker front and did quite a bit off the table which is always nice. Managed about 55k hands online and 30h of live play + 25h work off table so very content with process there.

Saturday, me and my in-laws packed up our entire apartment up, it is a mess and really not conducive to grinding, but only here til thursday night. Friday we move in and I could not be more excited, will post pictures next week but feeling very blessed.

My wife has the flu and moving in all next weekend so looking at a light weekend, thankfully I had another strong month financially.

The Last Week

As seen above, our living situation was quite messy, our box spring broke in the beginning of the week so we slept on the floor. My desk is to the left so it was pretty much the worst work office one can hope for; but with my wife being sick I mostly just spent time with her.

This led to probably the lowest amount of hours I've had regarding poker for the year, but it was well worth it. Got to spend a lot of family time with the wife and pup, went on a lot of walks down the pier to get a last few glimpses of the NYC skyline and ordered out most of the nights (chipolte, chinese, pizza... a true fat kids dreams)

On top of that, we started watching Monk, an old TV series I used to love as a kid. I only played 4 hours for the week but ran fairly well and booked a shade over +4k week, had a few coachings and did a slight bit of studying and before you knew it, it was our move out day.

Moving Out

Friday morning, me and my wife (still under the weather but toughing it out like a champ) got up at 7AM and began the process of moving boxes around for the movers to come. We also had furniture being delivered to our new address so with the help of our immediate family we were all moved out by 10:30AM and by 1pm checked out of our old apartment.

*Side Note: Always get movers, I get nightmares trying to think how I could have done this just with ordinary help.

Moving In

To be honest, I completely underestimated the time it would take to get a house organized. I expected to be done after Saturday evening, a full 2 days of unpacking. Well, it's now Monday afternoon and we are about 85% done.

It was a lot of work, but we are just about done and the house is just about done. Like my engagement, having my first home is such a surreal, almost out of body experience. It's hard to succinctly explain, but the best I can do is it feels amazing

*Beginnings of the office, have good natural light, will probably add some plant life and do extra things to pimp it out a bit

*Fenced in backyard which the pup is already loving. He was fairly anxious the first night but has seemed to get more and more comfortable

*Patio and pool

*The best investment I ever made was this sectional, after much begging at the furniture story I got Victoria to relent

*Downstairs basement area; yes I know it looks a bit like casting couch but I feel like this could be turned into a nice play area. Unfortunately, I am not handy at all. Any hardware experts ITT? I imagine redoing the floor/sanding and then sheetrock is the first thing I have to do

Lol exactly what I told my wife, I gave her full automation over any decorations, kitchen setup, bedroom set up as long as I got the sectional and could do whatever with my office.

I will definitely pm you in the coming days. I wish I was more handy tbh, it's incredibly useful and my father was in the business of fixing things, I just never really put an effort to learn; never too late though I suppose

I had another big week results wise, but all in all pretty disappointed (oxymoron, I know). Effort was pretty **** since I really had not much to do as my wife was gone all weekend for her bachelorette weekend. I was just lazy.

I have continued to put in solid off the table work despite riding a big heater it is just the volume that is seriously lacking. Going to be on myself hard to make up for it next two weeks.

I have my bachelor weekend on Halloween Weekend in Montreal with around 13 of my closest friends, so I need to bust my ass going forward if I want to get where I want to.

On the bright side, we are playing 2k again!
