Haha that very well may be true:

---------------------------

Regarding the AK hand, Villain is a extremely nitty post, still nitty pre but not nearly as bad.

For example, here's hand we played 10 hands before hand posted.

partypoker - $5 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: $500.00 (VPIP: 23.48, PFR: 16.44, 3Bet Preflop: 6.25, Hands: 30,708)
BB: $300.00 (VPIP: 26.92, PFR: 15.54, 3Bet Preflop: 6.56, Hands: 9,553)
UTG: $410.00 (VPIP: 28.34, PFR: 19.92, 3Bet Preflop: 9.79, Hands: 4,297)
MP: $773.57 (VPIP: 47.56, PFR: 9.76, 3Bet Preflop: 2.70, Hands: 85)
CO: $666.74 (VPIP: 28.85, PFR: 19.18, 3Bet Preflop: 7.75, Hands: 24,301)
Hero (BTN): $2,213.71

SB posts SB $2.50, BB posts BB $5.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $7.50) Hero has A 4

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $12.50, SB raises to $52.50, fold, Hero calls $40.00

Flop: ($110.00, 2 players) 9 Q T
SB bets $37.45, Hero calls $37.45

Turn: ($184.90, 2 players) J
SB checks, Hero bets $60.02, SB calls $60.02

River: ($304.94, 2 players) J
SB checks, Hero bets $99.64, SB calls $99.64

Hero shows A 4 (Flush, Ace High)
(Pre 33%, Flop 66%, Turn 77%)
SB shows Q Q (Full House, Queens full of Jacks)
(Pre 67%, Flop 34%, Turn 23%)
SB wins $501.22

Let's ignore my ****ty block size and focus that he snap called with top boat here. I mean like I said that's nitty. very low WWSF.

Given villains description, I don't expect him to find many unnatural bluffs and since he shoved fairly quickly (5 secs) I heavily discounted sets. I'm not even sure if he value bets AK or 98, maybe he bets AdKx which I chop w but in general I don't see him having much of a bluffing range and do see him getting to river with a decent amount of flush combos.

Even still, making these kinds of folds you better be positive otherwise it's a disaster so I'm still not sure how I feel.

I wouldn't half mind if he told me had a bluff and told me it's a shame I don't have balls either.

Anyway surgery in a few hours and can't fall asleep so been studying and watching Petrangelo's course atm (liking it a lot so far)

Week 30: 7/22-7/28 "Back to Reality"

1.) .5h of meditation Yearly Goal: 11.87/60

2.) 0h of Yoga Yearly Goal: 5.24/60

3.) 33.54 hours dedicated to Poker Yearly Goal:930.24/2200

Despite the graph, I did not have great results and dropped about 3k. On the bright side, I continue to play extremely well and the EV continues to reflect that

The whole week was essentially influenced by Tuesday's surgery. I'm usually fairly relaxed but with what was getting tinkered with I won't lie I was a bit anxious.

Unfortunately, the surgeon got delayed and I was in the hospital for about 4.5 hours before I even went for the surgery. Thankfully, they put me under the drug profanol and I was out within 15 seconds so I didn't have to witness the gritty details.

I woke up extremely groggy, I immediately reach below and am relieved to know that I in fact still do have a penis (win). I noticed it is heavily damaged and while still doped on drugs think some poor soul went to medical school so he could make a semi cast for a dick.

Not much happens, I am sore and given a prescription of oxy which I take and sleep all of Tuesday.

I take off my P-cast on Wednesday and realize I have stitches here which is another reason why I'm sore. I'm ordered no exercise so I'm essentially home alone all week. Despite being on oxy, I grinded fairly hard this week and just skewed more of my action towards my lower stakes. I was very cognizant that my emotional levels were going to be a bit more fragile this week so took the much lower variance route.

This continued through Thursday where I was down -7k at peak despite winning at 3.5bb EV for the day, I did a great job not tilting and locked up a salvageable 4.3k day and bounced back on Saturday.

Friday I was off for a wedding.

Sunday, I had a bunch of my wife's friends over for a brunch and was excited to grind some tourneys since this was something I worked my ass off this week for. Went 0/15 and was done by 9pm lol. Poker life.

Coaching

Re-upped my contract with BTS as well so will continue working and improving with those guys and am in the works of coming up with some big stuff for public release with MMA as well... stay tuned though

*Month of July

I am going on a 5 day trip starting today with my wife and my in-laws to a rental in the poconos for some R&R. I've been loving the grind, but have put in a decent amount of work that I don't feel too guilty for not playing for almost a whole week.

I had another big financial month, despite having feelings of unfulfillment and anxiety near the end. This mostly happened after putting down the last payment on the house, for some reason seeing the money out of my account was a significant depressant with how I felt. I knew that this money was being paid for a while but as soon as I saw a 60k gap(and over 100k in expenses past 2 months!) from my accounts I think it had a negative traverse effect. My emotional stimulus when playing has been a bit sensitive and I think in general some toxic thoughts have entered the airwaves.

These include bitterness and a bit of frustration with my liquidity situation at the moment ; even though this was my choice! Writing about these kinds of emotions make me feel better though and I do feel a bit silly having these thoughts when this year has been wildly successful in just about every are of life--- financially, romantically etc etc.

I've now made more money this year than I have in all my other years combined (which wasn't too crazy to begin with), my EV has hit new highs, along with my hourly so it's important for me to not focus on these negative feelings that are certainly not my reality.

Going to enjoy these few days off and then come back hard and grind 200-1k and keep in the steady income

Hope everyone has a great weekend at the tables

*Note PT4 still messed up

Also wildly successful in # of successful penis surgeries! lol congrats on the great month/year so far. As long as the large outgoing of cash doesn't change much about what games you can play then the new house is nothing but a positive! And like twoshae said, at least with the house that money is just going into house equity and not evaporating like wedding expenses.

Appreciate it dude, and good points as well, sinking $2,800 in rent a month with nothing to show for it was the alternative. Hope the (poker) retirement life is treating you well

Are you sure you want to take a day off of grinding?

Small tangent, but thought it was interesting that out of 280 people invited (I have massive family) only 6 played poker and they are all out of the country. I definitely have kept my private life segregated from my poker life.

*Note: This is not a good thing or bad thing, just something I noticed.

Thanks man, yeah it was successful but definitely one of the more annoying surgeries I've had since I'm still healing from it.

Well I can play upto 1k comfortably still, but I can't play 2k and up. I think these stakes can really boost a year (or destroy it) and I feel from a skill/technical advantage I am more than good enough to win there (at least at 6m). It all depends how I can deal with the swings mentally.

The good thing about grinding the lower stakes is obviously very little variance and not much stress from grinding and still make good money.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

August and into September

With the house paid off and summer starting to fade, I've made a few plans to catch up with old friends and relax. I'm not necessarily taking it easy as I will still be grinding hard on my work days.

I've decided that if I work upto quality standards I'm going to take a little poker break and have some fun and play a few WPT events including the 6max, HU event, and WPT championship for some shots at some binks.

Specifically looking forward to 6max and HU events as a nice little break from online cash.

Gl at the tables everyone.

Very relaxing week off the felt. Went on vacation with wife and in-laws til Wednesday pretty much laying by the pool, getting tan, and eating whatever I wanted.

Played Thursday and Friday, came home on Saturday for me and my friend's 10th annual Fantasy Football draft (TBH pretty impressive longevity for a bunch of highschool buds) anyway good times were had, I got fairly drunk and then realized why I rarely drink any more (hangover as all hell.)

I planned to play Sunday but that was thrown out the window and I just rested, which isn't the worst as I kind of find Sunday cash traffic to be slow and I was in no mood for tourneys.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as on the felt, I got plugged harder than your favorite pornstar. Really, really brutal week. Lost about 10k over 2 days lol. Just one of those 1% bad run stretches as I can honestly say I've been playing pretty good (I'm also a few k under EV) just a lot of poor distribution in big pots and not getting many spots to value bet and also getting some absurd hero calls when I bluff.

Always not fun to lose a chunk after a bit of a financial crunch, but with how I've been playing I have a ton of confidence next week's update will be better!

In other news, am planning on grinding hard this week. Today was supposed to be a big grind, but my wife got sick so only got about 6 hours in. Excited to grind a bunch.

Biggest news is finally closing house on Friday. By far one of the biggest pains ever as far as being an adult, but glad to get it just about to be done. Will be moving in early October and get that poker office.

Also question to the forum, has anyone hear bought a house using a mortgage from the bank? They would not accept my income as viable despite me showing a steady stream of income. Thankfully, my wife has a good job and got us approved, but clearly poker still has a pretty big negative stigma from a corporate view.

Awesome month mate, very impressive.

And wrt the mortgage i couldn't get one either, had to put it in the Mrs' name and i just pay half.

Although after thinking about changing house recently i've heard there are certain companies that will consider it as income if you can prove it over a certain period. I do live in a different country to you though
