Kidding, i assume we can bet turn.

I also never know how to size/play these flop spots.
Yeah this guy is super wide that betting turn is much more appealing since he can have hands like Js9x etc. against regs a check is fine.

Can't slowroll the fish! But in reality I am the by far the worst reg when it comes to timing out taking my action, so I've had a few hands where it looks like I've slow rolled...but purely accidental

Yeah running super hot, playing very well and really focusing hard has done wonders in this limited sample. Really, really, thrilled with how I've been playing and focusing, off the table work has been great too.

Going to study a bit more, watch the Knicks and then probably hop in a late night session.

Mid Month Update

The heater continues, despite lackluster volume, could stop now and have my biggest online month surprisingly. (which we wont ofc)

Although I freely admit I'm running super hot I'm playing very well too, and it's nice too see my off table work immediately pay dividends financially. Also helps to run supernova in the 300 hands of 2k.

Hand 3 (KQ hand)

Do you want to do this more on rainbow or two tone boards? Assume same ranks and 1 flop is your flop and other is (same kicker, kicker is a blocker)

I like the line I'm just not sure how to think about applying it in the right spots.

Also, even though turn favors our bb x/r range we want to check this actual combo, esp since our blockers and his line actually make it so that turn favors his range (plus his KQ+ always call and worse value folds alot) am I thinking about that correctly?

Our only natutal bluffs are 97 98 that x r, x c and x j
Villains call is bad
Also we have many combos of 78 which improve ott so I'm better to continue with polarized range which doesn't include our kq at high frequency
River x j is thinning but villains sizing ott and ott is very weak and is unlikely to be better than us

My raise is more dependent on villains sizing than rb or two tone, against a small sizing KQ is a raise a large amount of the time, against a 3/4ths sizing it's a high frequency call.

I did plug in if board was Kx65 and my hand is actually more of a call than before, while my KdQx combos are almost always a raise.

As for turn action, this board still favors me a good deal but I'm C/Ring super wide so I'm going to be checking alot or betting pretty depolarized. Although some combos will be bombed

Yes, I don't have a ton of bluffs, villain was bad but disagree on betting polar here. River is easy jam given villains weak sizing as noted!

Due to pre and flop ranges ott our wide so we want to x a lot ap with most of our range

I'd be surprised if pio default strat ott wasn't fairly polar ewith checking >67%.

Co shoukd not open 78o where we have all 78 (whether or not we raise pre or flop debatabke) this allows us to put lots of pressure ott with hands like sets str8s 2p and 7 or 8 blocker type hands this is why is prefer a dece Amy check turn and when bettING polarize and go quite large. We still have many kx and 7x 9x to protect xing range and can include small x/r freq

Arguably have nut advantage
No shortags of bluffs in range
Ip has wide range with many bluff catchers

We x/r wide vs small sizing, hence a lot of checking/ depolarized betting, we do have a small part of our range that we will bet polar.

I'm curious about your preflop sizing - vs a 2.5x raise you make it 9x in position, but when you open CO and villain 3bets BTN to 8 you only make it 20.5, was this an exploit because of a read that villain floats light?

I'm confused because I would have thought we should be more polar with bigger sizing and more merged with smaller sizing, and I would have expected a 4bet range OOP to be more polar, am I thinking about this the wrong way?

No, that's a fairly standard 4bet size for OOP although I probably should have made it bigger as an exploit against this villain. 3betting ranges are very linear nowadays so I don't have to go polar and 4bet 3x. If a person was 3betting a polar range (which you dont see anymore) I would go even smaller with my 4bet (2.1-2.2) as an exploit.

Cool, thanks for the reply. So does that mean that you are responding to the linear range of the villain by 4betting your own linear range, so its more about building a pot with equity + range advantage and not worrying about him being incentivised to continue a lot since he will be capped and you won't, rather than the old model of having "value" 4bets and "bluffs"?

Not necessarily, I still have a set ratio of value 4 bets: bluff 4 bets. I don't have to go too massive w my 4b sizing since ranges get narrow and SPR is naturally smaller.

Hope I made a bit more sense there. I'm not the best explaining my thoughts through writing--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I played my first 5k last night.

Very cool how only 2 years ago I was playing 50NL.

I'm not rolled for those stakes obviously but I felt like it was a solid risk, given how well I've been playing + not the strongest table

Changes a little bit, KQo still a raise, although on the turn it prefers betting 1/3 rather than checking even more. The biggest difference is it incorporates more of a polar bets with more of our range than before.

Quick update since my schedule gets extremely hectic with thanksgiving approaching and will probably be my last one til end of the month.

Month continues to go very well, although will be one with poor volume, have spent a ton of time training my new puppy (absolutely ton of fun) and studying, done a good bit of work with solvers, and looking at what some of the best do.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Some hands to hold everyone over.

1.) Against very aggro reg, River shove would be interesting but probably too thin.

Monthly Results

I may/may not play a small session tonight but quite busy later so thought I'd just do this now.

Month went about as well as I could ever hope. In fact, I was re-reading my thread one day out of boredom and I saw this quote from myself back in April.

Quote:
The breakthrough month is coming, soon I think, it's just gonna be like boom 25k month. Just gonna keep working my ass off and be patient.
7 Months later...

So overall quite happy with the results, despite low volume. I think there are 3 main reasons for the successful month.

1.) I ran extremely well at the highest stakes/shots I took.

2.) I played on average 6/7 tables at a time instead of my usual 9-10ish.

3.) I put in more off table work than actual playing time and implemented a lot of new things into my game.

Random Musings

Note* Not much poker stuff ahead in case you want to skip ahead.

Had a really enjoyable month overall. I had gotten a new pup at the end of October, and he took a large part of my time up for November, and is a decent reason for my lack of volume.

I've spent about 2 hours a day training him and walking him about 5 times a day. The work can be exhausting but it's really nice to have some company during the day now.

I also had some interesting/fun things this month:

- Got to go to MSG for the first time in years after my friend won tickets in a raffle and brought me and my girlfriend along.
-Got invited out to drinks by an older couple with my gf, almost positive they were swingers. Nice people though.
-Found an old yearbook from when I was in 7th grade, in 'goals' it said be a millionaire by 25... probably drawing dead there

What's next

Due to my lack of volume, I probably won't finish my CFP contract til January, which is ok. I was hoping to finish by the new year but that's just not feasible. Anyway, I did battle a bit HU against various regs and am back and forth on putting work in there since I don't play it frequently but volume is much tougher to grind at Midstakes in my pool etc.

I'm looking to grind hard first two weeks of December before I take a nice vacation to the Bahamas for 4 days.

Everyone will definitely see me on Twitch more come 2018 as well! I do have big news to announce soon though and I feel next year will be a big one.
