As stated previously, slow week with the wedding approaching, any kind of work was kind of seen as a bonus. Looking forward to getting back into the thick of things this week.

Wedding

What a whirlwind weekend. Everything went about as well as we could have hoped for. I had an absolute blast celebrating with all my friends and family. Getting married is definitely a surreal feeling as far as the celebration, and even though I was already technically married I definitely had some nerves before the ceremony.

In fact, when the officiant (who was a friend of me and Vic's) asked me if I take her to be wife, I just said "Yessss" very confidently. Everyone was laughing and I was so utterly confused, until I realized I was supposed to say 'I do'.

It's kinda funny you spend months planning for it and then in a blink it's over; but it was definitely one of the most memorable days of my life. I have a few pics to share ofc but the main photos won't be released for a few more weeks.

And since it garnered quite a bit of discussion, we ended up pretty much breaking even $$$ wise after receiving the gifts!

Let the Tourneys Begin

Started tonight and had a solid grind, fairly BE but was enjoyable and lots of things I can improve on immediately but I did at least scrape a cash!

Things are beginning to go back to a normal routine after the wedding. Victoria will start going back to work on February 3rd. I'll enjoy these next two weeks with her, while also putting in quite a bit of work and then really hitting the grindstone come February.
ahhhh congrats amigo! Looks like you guys had a time! Weddings are the best, especially when its yours!

I really like that advice, will keep that in mind. And you were exactly right it looks like KK/AA our only calls and AKo is actually a fairly decent mistake.

No worries though, we live and learn.

It was an exhausting blast, I still can't believe it's been 3 weeks! Thanks for the congrats and I'll have to check out your stream one of these days!

Had a nice, chill day since wife is home from work after 2 days off and is still working her way into shape. Still managed a few hours of studying and feel really good about the mindset after getting smacked last 2 days.

Week 6: February 3rd-February 9th: Tourney Troubles

1.) 38.38 hours of Poker Yearly Goal: 156.33/1800

2.) .6 hours of Mental Health Yearly Goal: 4/75

3.) 4.5 hours of Fitness Yearly Goal: 20.57/200

The only struggle this year regarding poker has been tournaments. I bricked every Sunday tournament and have only scraped together 3 min cashes through 3 weeks. Frustration has simmered but overall I'm quite happy with my process this week putting 10 hours off the table (5 for cash, 5 for tournies).

Rome wasn't built in a day and while I'm bleeding profit there I am at least doing well on the cash side to not have it sting very much. Also a $10k DS for tournaments is all together nothing when the avg buyin is probably $300.

As far as that goes, I have not much to report, life is getting back to normal, mundane routine.

As seen above, we got the monkey off our back and got first tourney win of 2019. Does it matter that it was a tournament with only 19 people? Maybe, but we got to take baby steps

Was a nice feeling to have a winning tourney day after getting buried very quickly for 10k to start the year. Making slow, tangible process and implementing what I've learned is pleasing as well.

Week in Review

Results were solid, but felt like I could of put more time into poker and on my main goals this year. 35 hours isnt bad but it could definitely be higher, and my schedule didn't stay consistent which led to only one (v good tho!) meditation session. I also only worked out twice.

I did do some house work (**** is really coming together) and I spent Valentines day with Vic where I made the universal mistake of not getting her a card. We agreed to no gifts since we're both kinda meh on Valentines day, and I was of the fact that a card counted as a gift. Lol, well we live and learn.

Also battled a bit and did my first ever HU sims after getting thoroughly outplayed in a short match, nothing like a little ass kicking for motivation.

Upcoming Week

Taking tomorrow off for a date night and life stuff (getting started at taxes) but rest of the week back to work. I'm leaning towards heading up to PA and playing the $1100 and also playing some online poker there as well.

Hands of the week:

Ah were we playing PLO? I usually rarely mix it in, so probs why I wasn't paying attention.

Yeah, I will be heading to Parx so for sure! But nope sticking to the tournament and the NL cash.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

We had our first real tournament sweat of the year with this one. I am really pleased how I played the F2T of this one, really took some +EV chip spots once the bubble broke and I was broke that I just would never take prior to working on my game and then also made held back on some shoves that are certainly making chips but would most certainly be an ICM mistake.

Am I making mistakes? Oh I'm making an absolute f*ck ton but mentally it's much easier for me to process since there's a lot I don't know (yet) about this format. When you don't have a set strategy in a lot of spots you're going to make more mistakes...regardless if it's a tourney, cash or SNG.

On the flip side, mentally I feel just OK about this despite being pleased with how I played. $8k is my 2nd biggest online score ever and tbh $52k is nice but not gonna change my life. Feels kinda sick to only be truly happy when you ship these ones.

Also not surprising that 75% of my cashes this year is in these 6 max tournies where I'm just much more comfortable overall.

Cash Grind

Also going pretty well, solidly rolled for 2k and I even jumped into 5k last night when one spot jumped in. I figured I could get away with it even though the poker roll is a little precarious for it.

Parx 1100

Going to play this Friday and looking to sell a small piece of action. PM here or on my Twitter.

I pmed u my good man.

In regards to MTT/Final table play im quite new to MTT's as well but ICM is crucial once you hit the final table where you need to know what the nash equil strat is factoring in ICM you can run it in pio, but risk premiums between 2 big stacks especially get tricky and usually as the PFR you can be more aggressive in this spot though not rlly

Yeah for sure ICM is something I've always been aware of but not something I've ever studied, so it's just another thing to start working on
