hey man, hope you don't mind me chiming in but i found it fairly ez to move up thru midstakes and am at 500 now (I know your site is harder than mine) but I think i see mistakes here

h2 we can surely turn that river into a check. We have SD value vs KTss JTss T9ss T8ss all which get to the river, our queen nuts KJss, and just generally ppl don't like to fold dry boards when it's lp vs lp. I don't think we are folding out a lot of villains aces imo...and on that river specifically, we get a lot of checkbacks. PLUS if pool is turning those pair+missed fd's into bluffs then snap it off we have fine bluffcatcher

h3 100% a mistake, it looks like you're falling in love with your hand and jamming 3xpot on this river only ensures we get called by better, he probably had to sigh call with his set, why are we turning our hand into a bluff

anyways just my opinion but looks like life is going great, congrats on the engagement and I imagine you have a good poker circle but if you want PM me for skype and I can discuss hands/strat with you whenever, I am putting in a lot of volume and doing lots of off the table work to catch up with solver stuff

Lol, at h3 that's never a bluff, his hand is basically the nuts and he could even go as thin as AQ for that sizing if he wanted.

Hey man, I never mind any input in a hand Also really enjoying you're blog. Yeah, a lot of my poker circle comes from BTS and it's a huge influence/help in my game. And for sure will send you a PM

As for the HU, I will be the first to say I am weakest in this format so not an expert at all. Villain overfolds river fairly significantly so I do think I fold quite a bit of his Ax (vs this villain I probably can't even triple AK/AJ and ever got called by worse) so that was my thought process but if he doesn't than I'm sure it's massively burning EV, but can definitely be convinced it's a mistake

H3 I have to disagree with you prettyyy strongly. I pretty much have the eff nuts. outside of 33 and tbh I didn't put that hand in his CC range (if there wasn't a spot in the blinds, the call is pretty bad).

This villain is stabbing his JT/22 at 100% frequency. I have quite a few bluffs here as well so think an OB sizing is fine, and I can definitely get heroed here imo by villain.

I think the only question mark is that Q9s not really a great hand theoretically for this sizing but decided to use it since I thought might get stationed light.

Yeah not turning into a bluff but I'd never use AQ for that sizing unless I played a whale or had an extreme read

Was messing around some of my old hands and saw this classic one vs reg...my overbets never get any respect

doesn't strike me as a bad hero call this K9, think it's probably break even ish

Yeah, it would be kinda crazy to jam AQ for value and would not do that, but under some assumptions I can see pio jamming it, mostly vs very imbalanced players. Just posted that as an extreme example for the guy.

Btw, how do you balance those 2 sizings otr? It looks like you go for a smaller overbet with QK+ for value and jam with 2p+. How do you balance both ranges or do you just overbluff/underbluff for one sizing?

I like his call, but it's hard to say if it's breakeven or not, because some people overbluff like crazy for that sizing and some(very few) underbluff. Unblocking Tx/Qx and blocking sets looks good.

From what I studied in that spot, those huge overbets affect both player's strats a lot when it comes to mixed plays(specially the guy calling), making it very hard for him to call at a frequency that will give the aggressor enough incentive to have bluffs in his range(if he is defending bluffcatchers vs that big sizing). So for humans that's a spot where it's very hard for both players to be at an equilibrium with each other.

Gotta make too many rng calls, because if IP calls all pairs with good blockers he will make OOP's bluffs be burn way too much money, giving him a lot of incentive to underbluff.

when I say breakeven I mean against a properly balanced range, obviously from an explo perspective it would either lose a bunch or win a bunch

PIO would never jam AQ tbh but as an exploit (vs whales I will 2x pot tp) it's fine.

I've spent a ton of time on cbetting in general (and have probably coached over 75 hours on the topic) so would say I'm just very in tune with my strategy. In general, I play fairly balanced vs the strongest regs and than deviate one way or another vs everyone else.

Yes, Theoretically his call his fine, this hand was fairly old though, I think I was still getting coached by BTS so can say his call was for sure losing some money.

Week 10 Overview:3/4-3/10

I fell on a bad habit with my daily habits/ practices like meditation and yoga this week but once again put the work in on the tables, and am on a good pace volume wise for once!

1.) 0 mins of meditation. Yearly Goal:5.25/50

2.) 0 mis of Yoga. Yearly Goal:1.57/60

3.) 42.77 hours dedicated to Poker. Yearly Goal: 307.75/2200

I didn't really study too much but did help a bunch of students with hands etc so it counts for something. I ended up playing 8 straight days, so taking today off and it's been wonderful. I slept in, did some bonding with the gf, and just relaxed.

Real Life: Life comes at you fast

-IVF was a ****show this week. On Tuesday, I had to get my swimmers frozen again (had to be Tuesday, there are strict time limits to this), but before this I had to get a form signed by a general practitioner just signing a general health form.

I have new insurance so just picked the cheapest (in b4 you get what you pay for) GP since I just needed them to sign a sheet. Anyway, I tell the GP this but instead got a lecture on the benefits of Calcium and Vitamin D.

Worst of all she won't sign my sheet and goes to another patient. It's 11:30AM and I need to get my freezing appt my 1:30 (office is an hour away). We explain our bizarre situation and the IVF doctor makes an exception. They don't understand why the doctor won't sign since it's very basic but they make an exception for me and everything works out... although not before my gf drops a few expletives on the office before we leave. With my gf raging, and tbh I'm pretty pissed too, I ask them not to bill me...but we shall see.

- I finished my last freezing today, with my GF's Marfans she has to be put on blood thinner shot. So we got sent about 60 needles for the next two months where she has to shoot herself up every morning.

-Following is more of a ramble of something I saw yday and not super important and slightly gruesome so spoilers below.

Spoiler:
Sunday morning, Me and Vic were going to her old college friend's place for a brunch. We were supposed to leave our place at 10:45 but I hit the snooze button once and we leave 10 minutes later. On the way up, we notice a guy waving us past what looks past a massive wreckage. The cars are absolutely smashed to pieces and I fear the worst.

I look to the front bumper of the car and unfortunately see a body that was not whole, thankfully my gf didn't see. We must have been 3 -5 mins before the accident and despite being slightly traumatized from what I saw I do think what happens if I didn't hit the alarm.

I check the new religiously to see if maybe what I saw was not true. But it was. Just want to send my prayers to the family and friends of the victim since it has me really down lately.

On a positive note, got a mini MTT bink yday

I only worked 3 days, I lost a good chunk, and didn't play great at all, but it was still a pretty amazing week. It's easy for all the poker stuff to take a back seat when you get engaged.

Engagement

Pretty special day in my life. I took a trip to Mass. to the new MGM up there under the ruse of celebrating Victoria's brothers recent birthday. Had him be my photographer and just had a really nice moment with her before popping the question.

I knew she was gonna say yes but I was more nervous here than overbet bluff shoving at 5k

This was yesterday and today we had both our parent's over for a nice long celebratory dinner. I did my best to soak up as much champagne as possible.

Busy Season

So me and my fiancee (still getting use to this word) are in full swing with IVF and now have a wedding to start planning for. This means expenses are coming.

The good news is I've had a fantastic year financially (so far) mostly just being dominant in the 200/500 stake I play. I'm getting very close to my peak roll from last year.

It's been as good a start as I can imagine but I'm still hungry and am really blessed how things have been turning out to start 2019.

Poker doesn't seem too important right now so no hand of the week. Hope everyone had a great St. Patty's day and GL at the tables!

Congrats man!!! I used to talk **** about marriage but I realize now that was because I was afraid of the idea. It’s such a blessing to have someone to go through this crazy, awesome life with. congrats on finding a good one.

Good to hear poker is going well too, I’ve long thought that the secrets to our world lie in things we do not yet understand, and have found that just bringing positive energy to poker, for whatever reason or reasons, WILL help yield positive results. It sounds like you have great positive energy in your life right now, keep it going! You’ve been through a good amount of ups and downs in here and it’s great to see all your hard work paying off.
