Back in NJ, after going through a horrific flight when our plane had to be re-routed from JFK to Philly for a few hours.

Will probably do a quick write up today or tomorrow, I would say this was the most fun I had during a WSOP although by far worst results wise.

Back to the online streets tonight

Note: Two days after last post I wrote and epic 10 paragraph post detailing everything that happened in Vegas. When I went to post I was signed out of 2+2 for too long and lost everything, leaving me the most tilted I've been in years.

Anyway, I will not be repeating that post (sorry) but will go through a very quick summary.

-Went to WSOP Vegas for my 3rd full time summer in the middle of my downswing.

-Lost heaps first 2 weeks, had a partial stake playing from 10/20 all the way up to 50/100.

-Recovered a lot of my losses, but with expenses included was a rough summer.

-Fired a bunch of tourneys after getting coached by Gags (If anyone needs work on their tourney game, there's not a stronger tournament player than him, highly recommended)

-Got absolutely nothing going on most of them (including Main Event, day 2 has turned into my Achilles heel)

-Did have a nice run in Monster, getting 367th out of 6,200. Took a brutal beat, losing A4cc on AQ2xcc to KTcc for a 50bb stack headed into day 3.

-On the non poker front, funnest WSOP ever. Got to stay with a bunch of the BTS guys and Bit2Easy in a beautiful home with outdoor pool and putting green.

-Being in a house full of pokers' best definitely has me improved dramatically since I've gotten back.


Situation Now

It's always fun to post when we're winning but gotta be fairly transparent here. After about 3.5 months straight of losing and maybe overspending a bit vacation wise, I've had to drop down to 200/500 streets in general. It's not a fun feeling when just a short few months ago I had a 6 figure roll and have about 25% of that.

It's been a pretty whirlwind 6 months where I've swung close to 6 figures both ways. I used an extremely aggressive BRM model and in the end I think it's put a bit too much stress on me in the end.

I'm going to tone down the aggressiveness and really focus on volume (which has been my biggest leak as far as poker for a while now). My confidence with my game is at an all time high since I've been back and my results at 200/500 are top of the line. As long as I keep up with it I shouldn't have to wait too long til my next shot at HS.

MMA is in the area so had him help me yday with some stuff which was a big help as well, mini shoutout to him.

Sucks to hear about the downer. Don't blame you for wanting to take a less stressful/swingy route going forward as big swings to the roll are obv mentally taxing. Thanks for the support as always man! That's the mindset I have "just a matter of time". I'm very happy with my game atm, definitely playing at a high level (minus a few punts here and there ) just need to improve discipline and VOLUME


It's kinda funny I was playing 3 days ago and got crushed for about 8-9 buyins and it was just really nice to only be down -2500 for the day, so as far as the stress that definitely helps.

I'll answer for online poker in general, since I think any poker in America is in better shape than ROW as it is. I'm actually pretty high on the short term future of online as it is.

People are still making massive mistakes, even strong HS players are making a lot of mistakes so as long as technology doesn't come up with something that seriously jeopardizes online I don't think it's going to 'die soon.

Not much to report on, winning lots at 200, breaking even at 500, and then losing at 1k.

Really trying to get volume up. I only have 232k hands for the year and it's really pathetic for a full time pro. (WSOP doesn't track anymore, so even adding 50k doesn't improve it much)

It's not gonna matter how great my winrate is if I don't play to get the monies... So pushing back on studying for more playing, so far so good.

Actually had decent discussion on this one, few people don't like how I played it, others thought it was fine

Yeah was somewhat interesting hand, I don't think the whale would just call off to a shove. But def know he's never folding to a 4bet and fine to just GII this hand vs him so probably could have gone even bigger with my sizing.

Flop is value, he doesn't fold to cbet's. Turn he was very aggro so just expect him to shove all his floats and SD hands so was surprised once I saw the checkback. Had someone say if he's shoving this hand he's shoving all his 77-TT but I expect him to just bet those on turn.

Regardless, end result is just ownage. Sadly down about 6-7k vs this fun player on the year

My brain is wired the same against this profile, has been working out well for years. Not sure why protection would be more important than catching all of the spew.

Wouldn't defend it to the death, but don't see how it's bad with the right read.

Called with AT high vs a x/r and triple barrel on stream the other day at 500z. People don't understand that if you got a read you got a read. There isn't much room for self doubt at poker.

Similar to what I said above, if he's shoving bottom pair he could shove a bunch of other worse pairs as bluffs etc. I'm fine with how I played it vs him to be honest, just a tough one to lose.

Probably grinded the longest I have had in one continuous session this year, about 7-8 hours. There were def some fatigue mistakes near the end but played pretty strong overall, and was rewarded with a strong 5k day

Ironically, biggest pot I won was at WSOP where I went to sit at a solid 5/10 table. However, WSOP has deep tables so not paying attention I automatically sit down with 2k. Don't really want to play deep with the roll hurting but don't want to lose table so I said "**** it"

3rd hand off the deck I open UTG with AJcc to 25, bad reg cc, aggro reg squeezes to 110, I 4bet to 280 (2k eff), cold caller folds and reg calls.

Flop comes down KcTc4x. I cbet 1/4th, (not sure about this one at all. Would check probably whole range on Ax board, but tbh not sure about this texture.) Villain raises small. I call.

Turn is the beautiful 3c and the money goes in. I thankfully hold vs TT, and all is right in the world.

Fun Past Week

For those interested in the poker just skip this poker, but like updating this blog with some of the things I do last wise. This April, me and my girlfriend bought Jets season tickets and decided to splurge for the price since we are die hard fans and we're only about 20 minutes from the stadium.

This past Friday, we got to MetLife stadium and tailgated with some other friends, had a great tailgate, before enjoying the game and seeing football for the first time in months.
The next day, we went on a double date with some friends and took an archery class. I had never tried it before, but actually had quite a bit of fun.

Took me about an hour before I got the knack of the bow and started shooting with any accuracy and started hitting close to the bullseye from 9 meters. Went to 18 meters and was absolutely horrible but will probably go again in the near future.






Poker Plan til the next end of the month

1.) Continue mixing in 200NL til roll is at 40k. Tough to get consistent volume at 500NL where I am.

The buyin shots I've structured is a good way to maintain discipline as far as some of these games as I've already been very tempted to jump in some 2k games, but relented. Don't really have a time frame on this but think it will happen fairly quickly.

This month

Fairly indifferent with my volume...would guesstimate at around 32-33k hands. Results are pretty good despite down a few buyins at 1k. 200NL feels like play money and I'm significantly better than the regs. 500NL going solid as well.

Was it cool? I've heard so many good things about bow and arrow from people like Ted Nugent and other known people. Archery really emphasizes on self control, discipline and some other inner qualities that can be hard to develop through other practices.

I've been thinking of trying it ever since I've heard about all the good things about it.

I've gotten this more than a few times at the poker table, I personally don't see it, but I'll take it.

Yeah it was definitely cool. I had never done archery before so came in with a fairly open mind. The first thing off your list that jumps out is discipline so I would agree for sure. It's crazy how one little tick can throw off trajectory (even as short as 9m away).

I definitely see myself doing this more often going forward.

1.) Was a lot of fun.

2.) Fairly affordable

3.) Decent workout in

4.) Challenging

So yes would definitely recommend it to anyone.


As far as the AA hand, I had a tough time processing this spot in game. Little bit of background, BU is opening too wide, so I'm adjusting by 3bing a little bit wider, and I think reg in BB is aware so his cold 4b (I'm assuming) is a bit wider, hence why I thought flatting was a bit higher +EV.

After flop I'm honestly pretty lost as far as ranging what his bluffs could be and his value that would take this line, and I just felt like this was a spot villain would underbluff. Thinking a bit more clearly about it it's probably a bad fold, agreed.

I found out my fold was correct, but trying not to be results oriented

August Review

In summation, a success based on results, although there were a lot of things I need to fix outside of actually playing poker.



*Note These don't include my WSOP profits since that is now untracked but results were good as I maintained ok volume (50-55k hands approx) and locked down my 4th biggest month of my career (20 bomb).

A successful month was definitely needed with the roll hurting, so gives me plenty of breathing room and the 2k shot is not too far away

A few random thoughts

1.) I can make a very comfortable living just playing 200/500 NL for the rest of my career. I would make plenty and really not have to go through much swings.

2.) ^That will never happen with me. The game is just way more fun/mentally stimulating for me against the top guys. 5k reg or bust for me.

3.) Despite the breather I have with the BR now, finance are looming. I have to pay my own health insurance for the end of the year, have future wedding/ house to think about it and that is in the not too distant future

4.) The results don't feel too great cause I was a lazy POS this month. I barely studied (which was planned) but there was no reason that I shouldn't have gotten more volume. Also picked up some bad procrastination habits and started getting a little too reliant on energy drinks

5.) Proud of my discipline to not jump in any higher games even if I had an edge and stick to my BRM.


September is going to be a big month, and I really want to stack some good months in a row.
