Read this part, and can completely relate for sure. Have been going through the same thing and my interpretation on it is that Poker isn't necessarily good and for some it may be contradictory (The fact that they want to help and add value to the world), yet poker takes money from other players. The way I have seen it is that poker just is, there are many things that are just transactions from one another whether that is buying a car/ selling a house/ renting a taxi. The goal is to get as much commission as possible. Although it will never be seen the same way entirely in society this is the best way I've seen it and how I have come to a resolution with poker neither good, or neither bad. It just is.

There clearly are better things in the world where there is more value, what they are exactly is a good question. I have yet to find an exact answer of what is better but some would cross my mind are teachers, doctors, restaurant owners, t-shirt designers, anything that involves sports-related fitness/gym-related fitness basically anything that is a necessity to life. It is of course dependent on exactly what they are able to give in terms of value and what reason they are doing what they are doing.

i havent really gotten started yet to be very honest, its been so insanely cold here that i ve not felt like going to the gym (lame excuse i know haha)

good post man and ya i agree, poker is a weird thing once u actually take the time to think about it and it takes a special kind of person to be able to fully embrace what poker offers. sadly given the obsessive personality i have what i ve had happen is that i ignored most of the people that once were important to me and played for two years basically never leaving the house. that clearly is ******ed and i ve reached a point where i need to change many things up pretty drastically. i believe that university might lead to something good for me and others and while i might be leaving $EV on the tables that pales obv to lifeEV in the long term
thoughts: yes! not sure exactly in what capacity, how many, what but i ll def stay involved in poker in one way or another, be it grinding weekends/ the odd evening as a side job/in holidays be it, buying pieces/staking (imo one of the better investment options out there (next to bitcoin maybe )) or be it coaching but again i ll just have to see where all that is yet to come will lead me and how i feel.

Good luck with going back to uni and everything, mate. I think everybody that plays poker has, or will have, the same kind of thoughts as you at some point. It's only natural as it's a very introverted profession.

What is the main purpose for you going to the University Exactly? It seems as if you want to be back in touch the people who were most important for you that you ignored within the two years. What are you trying to find from there? Think what your mainly looking for is balance. LifeEV>>>$EV anyday .

almost closed out the month in style :

played pretty well today and coulda been a big day:

25th in hot $75
8th in $25 6m hyper
7th $11 [1R1A]

and the one above. happy to close the month out with a few winning days tho

overall i learnt a fair bit about volume in MTTs. played tons of turbos this month as i originally started out chasing TLBs etc and stuck with them. while i m positive i m not -EV in them (180s mainly) i think once TLBs go out the window its nonsense for me to be massgrinding 20+ tbls which i did all month. all of my profit has come from MTTs and thus next month i ll go back to using 180s as mere table fillers when i m below say 15 tbls.

been using my FPPs to buy tournament tix this month as well as staking a few guys that have been doing pretty decent lately. all in all month comes to $12.6k which is decent all things considered. gonna try and focus on quality>quantity in feb and do a bit better hourly wise!

also, i ve been tracking my expenses this month and all added up to 1.1keur (i m not paying rent) with regular expenses looking to be 650e and 450 being one time things like festival tix and contact lenses for half a year etc. will be keeping track of those from now on and def work on reducing them as that number seems way too high for my lifestyle :angry:
