Another great thread. Definitely following this 1.

Is there anywhere I can read up about how you built yourself into a position to do this? (The games you used to play? how you built your bankroll? etc)

Best of luck.

Thanks mate, I recently wrote a Well elsewhere but instead of referencing that I might try and copy paste the relevant questions and answers here, leave it with me!

Wow, brilliant and detailed reply buddy.

Now you have explained it in the post I understand now more and defiantly admire your work ethic. I kind of blinded myself in terms of not looking past achieving SNE and what it actually means for next year(s) coming, more time off yet most likely more rewards each year.

I don't have any doubts you will reach your goal, you clearly deserve it and it's inspirational seeing threads like this and showing what an actual true grinder is all about.

Gooodluck, obviously subscribing.

Re: Supernova Elite by November 28th

Another awful day, just shy of 400k chips below EV in the last 7 days. That said, the VPP demands of the goal I've set are pretty enormous which is definitely hurting my EV hugely since I'm playing many more tables than I'd like. From tomorrow I'll be adopting a new strategy for the chase, basically premised on grinding more hours with less tables, game mixes and mistakes. I'll also be refreshing my head for tomorrow imagining it as a brand new clean slate and the start of a new challenge. This should help a lot but is likely to make me fall behind pace a bit. After some positive results I'm sure making up pace won't be a problem in November with higher morale and a satisfying profit cushion. VPPs today: 6.2k, but was a coaching day and went out in the evening.

Re: Supernova Elite by November 28th

Had a good day today, the re-shaping of my plan seemed to work out well. Felt much more comfortable and was able to ensure I played really well at all times. Ran way above EV which felt good, didn't generate enormous equity but solidly + throughout. I'll take that with the VPPs tyvm. ~7.5k today but didn't have a completely full day, will be interesting what average pace/day will be required for November compared to what I managed this month. Highlight of the day was mentioning to simpledude as a sidenote that I'm playin quite a few tables while we're chattin, he checks to see I've got 30 tables up haha.

How much more time are you putting in per session now or are you just adding another session onto the beginning/end of the day?

To be honest I'm putting in quite a lot less time than I was a little while ago. I was grinding ridiculously hard for so long, and also initially had a daily aim of 12k vpp when playing the HS 6-max games. Around a week or so ago I was grinding hard aiming for three sessions, 4hr+4hr+3hr, morning, afternoon, and before bed respectively. Sleeping pattern is crucial, and I've struggled a bit with a vicious cycle of having to make extra VPPs before bed, going to bed a bit later, waking up way later>repeat cycle.

Since there's only one month to go now, I'm really not too concerned about churning out the requirement each and every day. Later in November if needs be I could just grind like a monkey and put in a few 12k+ days which should compensate for a few days I take lighter before that. The key is to avoid days where I make miles lower than the average, say 3.5k or less. It's so easy for that to happen if you get a busy day with other stuff and playing gets shunted to the last thing to do. I find Saturdays difficult because there are a bunch of other commitments that take precedent despite the fact I'm on the brink of SNE!! :@

Re: Supernova Elite by November 28th

Today went well overall, made 7.5k VPPs which was great. My aim was 6k given that there were a lot of other things going on in the day, and coming into my night sesh I'd only made 1.5k VPPs. At the tables things were pretty solid, was weird in the sense I lost a ton of buy-ins by running below EV on $60s, ran well above EV on $200s, and ended up running almost right on expectation in $.

Another day ticked off the list!!

Can you see the upswong on the way for November?!

If I can finish this month with two profitable days I might unbelievably end up for the month after rakeback, but currently in the hole.

LoL

I don't think I could emotionally take that sort of swing, I guess that's why I'm not a full time player haha..

Then again, you say if you end the next two days as profitable then with rake back you would end the month profitable which is quite crazy when you look at the graph itself hehe.

Good luck for next month

Oh wow! That graph is insane. 10,000 games in 1 months is truly sick.

Love the upswing from ~7500-7800 games lol Looks weird when the rest of the graph is generally down.

Good luck with the rest of the grind. Will be worth it next year.

Ty, yeah this was a very emotionally testing month, playing for so long consistently losing over such a huge sample was pretty nuts!

Re: Supernova Elite by November 28th

I wanted to post that graph just to get an instant reaction on how it appears and the suckyness. Now I'm gonna show some individual stats which show the month in a different light:

Based on these games I'd be up around $10k for the month so far. For the 9-mans I ran $9200 below EV, and on 6-max turbo I ran $7000 below EV. Therefore at reasonable expectation I'd be looking more along the lines of +$26k for those 29 days, which would look quite different.

I was playing terribad in the 50/50s for quite a large portion of games, but have finally fixed my game on that variant to a point I'm pretty confident in being reasonably +EV, not hugely but a bit after rakeback. Before I was really just entering new territory winging it on feel and trying to see what works and what doesn't. I mostly found out what didn't work to a point I was left with more of what did work.

One lingering question might be, how the hell did you lose that much on 6-max turbos, especially if you "only" ran $7k below EV on them, but lost miles more than that overall? The answer is that for the $200, $300 and $500 games, I lost nearly $22k in 572 games. Thinking of 572 games within a nearly 10,000 game sample shows that over a small high-variance sample, I first of all ran below EV, but quite possibly also suffered terrible card distribution, coolered a lot etc. Of course maybe I just sucked and bled a lot of equity, which to an extent will be the case due to the fact it's nearly impossible to mass table while playing those games, which are some of the toughest games out there. On the other hand, I was gifted God Mode in them for two weeks in August, so overall on this chase I'm up still on them games (JUST) after rakeback, which is pretty hilarious and a huge relief.

I think the long and short of it is that on those games to get a 5000+ game sample, you need to play for the best part of the whole year, therefore any significantly shorter period of time is at the hands of the poker gods. Alongside that point is that to know your true EV in them, you would really need to play a long period of time in them, and risk losing enormous amounts. That's the danger in them games, perhaps I could have overstated my EV in them, or perhaps I'd be pessimistic based on short-term runbad. Either way, scary stuff, and you will see a change in the shape of my graph from the point I cut them out. 50/50s are pretty swingy but we might be talking $10k swings not $30k swings [hopefully] lol.

Re: Supernova Elite by November 28th

Today was pretty much awesome. Didn't manage to play a single hand until evening, then busted a marathon sesh earning 11k vpps in one sitting. Also earned around $5.5k in the process. My mojo is back

Since starting re-formulated plan: 3/3 win days, ran way above ev twice and around ev the other day, ev positive each day.

Feeling knackered but volume sucks early on Mondays so won't miss much if I treat myself to sleep. Happy Halloween

Thanks guys, getting closer but still a long way to go. I'll pass the 750k mark this evening leaving ~247k VPPs to be made 28 days of November.

Today I feel completely exhausted, yesterday was a marathon session and Monday is always tough on the back of a long non-stop Sunday night sesh. I fell asleep all afternoon and have a long grind ahead of me tonight to keep up pace. Plan of action? Watch as many inspiring videos as possible on TED to remind myself I'm a complete pussy
