SUPERNOVA ELITE
WEEK 1, JANUARY
Hi Guys,
Since I haven't really updated much since completing my Supernova challenge I thought I'd write a little update and talk about my plan.
Firstly, I'm really appreciative of all the feedback / support I had, and I'm sure I will be thankful for it more this year, so again, thanks.
Since New Years, I've been working hard on the Jackal stable; putting a team together to play low stakes hypers, with a scope to move up for various VPP targets. Between that, and a difficulty looking at 6max hyper tables for a few days after 2014 started, my volume has been somewhat lacking. As well as that, my runbad (whilst obviously standard) has been a little gross, and my friend Matt (KasabianP) was in town for a few days.
On top of that, university work has been there, so basically I say: meh, to this first week, and look forward.
My special volume co-efficient (hereby the SVC) was calculated by myself (and I did this generously i.e. underestimating true volume) to be 61 games per playing hour. My plan for the year is 1500-2000 hours, as written about in a previously linked-to post, and I need a game size between $30 and $60. For some reason, that previous post had my total games between 99k and 132k, when in fact: 1500 x 61 = 91,500 games and 2000 x 61 = 122,000 games. Either way, here is the plan:
The first half of the year I'm at university.
I plan to play 500 hours up to July, in the first 181 days of the year. This is 30,500 games
So far I've only played an estimated 10.93... hours = 667 games. I've played mainly 30's and some 15's due to run bad, etc. which I feel is essential in this sort of challenge; flexibility is everything!
Anyways my plan:
I start university on January 13th.
Until then I have 5 days (including today, and also essays to work on).
So for the next 5 days, I plan for 5 hours / day, to total up at 25 x 61 = 1,525 games.
Then from 13th January - 21st March I will average a 25 hour week
So 78 days x 25/7 = 278.5... hours. We'll call this 279 hours x 61 games = 17,019 games
Then April is revision time, so we'll go for 20 hours / week.
30 days x 20/7 = 85.7... hours. We'll call this 86 hours x 61 games = 5,246 games
And May and June will be exams. Exams end June 18th.
So:
For May, and June up to the 18th, I'll play 10 hours / week.
This time period is 49 days, so I'll be playing 70 hours = 4,270 games
So by this point we can total:
Played so far: 667 games
Next 5 days: 1,525 games
Term time: 17,019 games
April: 5,246 games
Exam time: 4,270 games
= 28,727 games.
So I need to play 1,773 games in the post-exam period up until July to reach 30,500 games.
I feel as long as the ABI is roughly 30, the volume of the 2nd half being between two to three times greater, with development from the first half of the year, means I'm in no rush to play 60's yet (but of course would like to do so when I'm playing / running well).
Obviously after graduation, I can smash it playing the remainder for the 2nd half of the year!
So here's the first week:

Just yucky, through and through.
Will be updating as and when, but looking to get in to a daily to every-two-daily pattern.
And of course, a big tune by a great band:
